Furthermore it will likely also cause the ship to handle very poorly as your essentially loading more cargo than specified. I think a lot of people are overthinking cargo, semis don't even fully fill their capacity all the time.
Thanks for showing the cargo possibilities. Keep in mind that the C1 Spirit cargo layout (2x 8x4x2 for 64 total) can be fit inside the Zeus with as much ease as in the Spirit. The loading struggles begin when wanting to fill 128 all the way, making use of the full width and the 3rd layer in height. Hope they at least get those tractor beams fixed before this goes live.
Great video, thank you for showing these differences. The C1 is hard to beat for cargo hauling right now and it can actually fit 112 SCU comfortably. I buy my cargo as a set of 7 boxes that are 16 SCU each. If you fill it all the way back to the ramp, the middle walkway will hold 48 SCU.

I don't get the Tractor beam setup from the start. And in this case both ships the tractor beam should have been mounted on a rail inside the cargo hold on the ceiling that would extend the cargo bay and the tractor beam on the rail should roll along on the ceiling and at the Ramp of the ship in the back it should then extend out of the ship. Also the tractor beam should scan the box while picking it up so you know whats is in it. And when placing it on the cargo grid there should have a hud display in the corner like a tetris layout with the cargo containers with certain colours depending on the cargo and a manifest on the side with materials and amount and maybe prices. This so you see where you have placed certain boxes etc. And by giving each material a certain colour and also use that colour on the manifest list. Like Gold is Yellow so the Cargo box on your Hud display is also yellow and Copper is Orange etc. This way if we need to unload a certain box we don't need to remember where we put it we can just look at the manifest and the colour on the tetris layout on the hud display while in the tractor beam operator seat. This would also be great if you have differend persons loading and unloading certain cargo. Or maybe load certain cargo by NPC's and unload by players. Tractor beams and cargo still needs a lot of work.

Until inertia becomes more of a problem and things that's not anchored down jostles around and blows up your ship. C1 will have to fly much more gingerly with loose cargo like that.
This is a pretty cherry-picky take in my opinion. Yes you currently can stick a third 32 SCU off-grid in the Spirit and that works fine for waste or whatever, but that's not usually a great idea for other stuff like delicate/volatile freight, and Soon/eventually it will likely be a bad idea period. I just don't think it's advisable to be thinking the cheese we get away with now as any sort of real/actual benefit/feature on a ship. OK so apples to apples then; the CL has twice the cargo grid capacity of the C1, and as to weapons the C1 has less guns but more missiles, so maybe it's a fair match there, however for components it's same sizes but the Zeus has two or three to one on the Spirit in important places! If you match up the brands/manufacturers on Erkul like for like on both ships it's a very different picture to stock loadouts. I like them both for various reasons, but for my backer bucks, it's no contest at all. The Zeus CL is nearly twice the ship for the cash price difference of an Aurora.🍻
You can get more than 96 in a C1 if you fill every bit of it lol I can get at LEAST 128 in my C1, now mind you, that's using 2 and 4 scu crates to fill some gaps plus a 16 at the very back. So if you do to the C1 what CIG did officially with the Zeus, they're pretty even in terms of cargo capability. If I REALLY wanted to cram more in the C1, I believe I could get a little more out of it, but I haven't actively tried to go over 112 because screw loading a bunch of 1-4 scu crates when i can load 7 16 or 3 32 and a 16
o7 ! Whit the C1 can fit around 122 /126 Scus, over each 32 Scus containers in each side u can fit another 8 Scus, and behind of the the 32 Scus u can fit other 4 Scus each side , and in the middle in one of the 2 sides u can fit another 20 Scus , and in the entry , u can fit another 16 Scus , and that is the max , but with space to pass very well and still have a Nox bike if we want 2 😂 ! only this Zeus its better its the stair's to get out 😅 ! I’d still pick the Zeus. Similar size with a lot more bang for your buck. Tractor beam can also reach inside. Also has a turret and more health, bigger guns and worse flying.
I defo can see some great appeal, for me as a cargo runner I would pick a slightly smaller load that is easier to put in by hand and get out of dodge fast, especially with 1000 pirate… I mean player servers coming
Yeah not sure why they made it that tight in the back. I would think they could have made the ship .5m longer and .5m taller and .5m wider and still been smaller than the C1 but also had just enough breathing room. Really dumb that they made the rear ramp so narrow. I wonder what vehicle they were trying to limit people from putting inside. With manual loading you can fit 152 on the floor by putting a total of 12x 1SCU or 6x 2SCU boxes down each side not on the snap grids. The difficulty of the loading you showed has definitely persuaded me to pass up melting a ship for this thing. Shame too because it does look good.
It does baffle me, it was announced when auto loading was the main thing, maybe they overlooked the manual and how fidgety it is to load cargo in a tight space
CIG overpromised when they said the Zeus CL would carry 128 SCU. The only way they could make it carry that much was to cram cargo slots in like sardines.
Yes and I know as a hauler it will be a nightmare sting to fit the last row in will be like pulling a spring back to put it in place, it would have been great when announced, bite since then they have taken 90% of auto loading away so it makes it useless now I’d rather 6 boxes making 96-112 over 26 boxes at 128
@@NoobsGamingSC exactly. The real effect of this is that it doesn't really have 128 SCU of space, but something closer to 110. At least most medium cargo missions don't go over that.
Well, first of all, they didn’t over promise anything they promise you exactly what you got go back and look at those videos. They quite confidently say that we removed everything in the way to let you cram in as much cargo as humanly possible I’m pretty sure they use that term analogy to cram in so now they delivered exactly what they promised and if you think this is just a CIG thing boy you must never have ever flown a real aircraft because let me tell you something if you want to take a Cessna 172 which is a general purpose light aircraft meaning it can do a bunch of different things, but by standard what it does is it transports people but you can remove the seats get some special certifications and turn it into a bush cargo plane if that’s what you want it to be but it’s by no means efficient shit is crammed everywhere and to balance out your CG. It’s crammed in some of the most ridiculous places you see there’s a lot in real life or you can look at the Kodak aircraft which are again general purpose aircraft that can be fitted to do a bunch of different things including hauling cargo but when you have them haul cargo, of course very small cargo door in comparison to a purpose built aircraft like the dHavilland beaver so of course you can fit less shit through that door, making it a bigger pain in the ass you see there’s a lot in real life aircraft design it’s not unique to CIG hop off the dick a little bit
Oh, and when it comes to how they handle cargo missions, I don’t like the way they handle cargo missions because you can’t tell until you take the mission but if you’ve ever flown cargo in real life for hire, you know that you don’t always get to decide the dimensions of your cargo in fact, most of the time you do not which means you are eligible or an eligible for certain cargo, even if you could carry that amount of weight because of the shape size and dimensions of the cargo you can’t carry, which makes you in eligible for it again a very real life problem.
Brother, the C1 holds literally half the cargo of the Zeus. If you wanna talk ease of loading, then compare loading the Zeus with just two 32SCU boxes. It wins there too.
The c1 holds 96 easily, to get 96 in the Zeus is a lot more work, there is even space in the back of the c1 to get more if wanted, the video is more about ease of use For not much loss. Every trip in a c1 that I make I get 96 cargo. I’ve never looked at the c1 as a 64scu ship, always a 96scu. The c1 is my main daily and for me to consider using the Zeus instead it would need to have the same easy loading, the new cargo loading is a big thing now, it needs to be easy
I came to exactly the same conclusions as you. I was really excited about the Zeus but then after doing Hauling missions I began to appreciate how much difference it makes to be able to load easily and to use any combination of any size of crates. When the hauling mission gives me 8scu crates, as it very frequently does, then my MSR will only hold 72SCU and the Freelancer Max only holds 64scu! The Zeus CL will also only take 64SCU. Yes when you are trading you can choose what size crates to use but trying to get those 2scu & 4scu crates slotted in perfectly to get full capacity is time consuming at best and near-impossible at worst. The MSR requires you to not just move 2x2scu & 2x1scu crates into the secret area but also put 9x4scu on top of the 3.24scu crates which is really hard when you cannot see what you are doing up there. Now add in that the C1 is faster and more agile as well and it seems my desire to have the latest cool ship is not so easy to justify :-)
As the C1 my daily driver is only half the cargo capacity, would love for a ship of similar cargo capacity be compaired to the Zeus. One of the Connys variant or something closer (100-150 SCU) to the Zeus capacity rather than one with half the grided cargo.
@@CitizenScottok if hull dimensions are more important than components and actual cargo grid, let's go with the freelancer max. Even though the Way bigger ship does not have double the cargo grid space, even the Taurus. Considering it is a cargo focused comparison.
Yeah i shoulda kept my C1. Mistakes were made. God I hate MM. You have to be at your most vulnerable with no shields in order to load your cargo. what kind of BS is that? I'm probably just going to stick with my star runner for my medium freight hauler. Nice big wide ramp and cargo hold that can hold 114 scu on grid with nice wide and tall back opening that can makes it a breeze to load/unload and it it can hold a vehicle.
Eh? lol not sure what you mean. I was looking forward to the Zeus, I went and bought it ages ago and if cargo was auto load like it was when I got it, it would be a great ship, but now we have manual loading at 90% of places it doesn’t make sense to pick it over a c1
When cargo has mass the extra boxes you cram into the C1 that are not locked to a grid will bounce around and destroy your ship from inside out.
Furthermore it will likely also cause the ship to handle very poorly as your essentially loading more cargo than specified. I think a lot of people are overthinking cargo, semis don't even fully fill their capacity all the time.

The Zeus CL is nearly twice the ship for the cash price difference of an Aurora.🍻
thank you for this video, not sure im gonna buy the CL but maybe the ES instead
I'm going to do a video showing the hand loading of it so people can see if it is a ball ache to load
Wouldn’t be the freelancer Max be a closer comparison?
In cargo size maybe, but I was comparing because I can or could get close to 112 in a c1 so it doesn’t seem to far off
You can get more than 96 in a C1 if you fill every bit of it lol I can get at LEAST 128 in my C1, now mind you, that's using 2 and 4 scu crates to fill some gaps plus a 16 at the very back. So if you do to the C1 what CIG did officially with the Zeus, they're pretty even in terms of cargo capability. If I REALLY wanted to cram more in the C1, I believe I could get a little more out of it, but I haven't actively tried to go over 112 because screw loading a bunch of 1-4 scu crates when i can load 7 16 or 3 32 and a 16
Where do you get the larger boxes at?.. most ive seen at the Refineries were teh 8 and sometimes 16's
should maybe have raised the roof just a touch inside to make it less tight
I’d still pick the Zeus. Similar size with a lot more bang for your buck. Tractor beam can also reach inside. Also has a turret and more health, bigger guns and worse flying.
I defo can see some great appeal, for me as a cargo runner I would pick a slightly smaller load that is easier to put in by hand and get out of dodge fast, especially with 1000 pirate… I mean player servers coming
@@NoobsGamingSC good points. To each their own. I wish they could both fit an Ursa but 😒
Yeah not sure why they made it that tight in the back.
As a pure cargo runner, Argo Raft all the way!!!
(If you want it enclosed, Freelancer Max)
The Zeus is a work of art but the C1 is a better functional ship. Its just lacks a ladder as do all ships.
if you really want, you can get around 156 scu in the zeus.
Yes, I did think around the sides you could add more
CIG overpromised when they said the Zeus CL would carry 128 SCU.
I mean, they did kinda say that exact thing.
Does Q slow the tractor like in the others?
Oh I’m not sure I can try it cheers
@@NoobsGamingSC On my keybinds Q cycles different modes. makes it easy to control fyi
The c1 is my main daily and for me to consider using the Zeus instead it would need to have the same easy loading, the new cargo loading is a big thing now, it needs to be easy
i'd argue the c1 can actually hold 112 scu of cargo even..
@@NoobsGamingSC The cargo grid disagrees. Just sayin. Also, you're not gonna want loose fragile/explosive cargo in the back when that's all ingame.
@@CitizenScott Oh for sure defo not on grid, and defo when fragile cargo is about we will look at ships differently
Yes defo I think I could fit a few more in the back at least another 16
The real issue is with Hauling missions, since you can’t choose the box size. A lot of the room on the Zeus is unusable for size 8 scu boxes.
Yes I think at tops you may get in 2x4 size 8 down the main area and maybe 1 more at the side of one area so maybe 9 size 8s
@@NoobsGamingSC Yeah, I got in 91 SCU for a mission but it was packed precariously and a PITA to get aboard so I’ll stick with my Taurus.
Loading and unloading cargo manually seems about as fun as having your toe nails pulled out
it really is an ancient Chinese torture technique.
As the C1 my daily driver is only half the cargo capacity, would love for a ship of similar cargo capacity be compaired to the Zeus.
One of the Connys variant or something closer (100-150 SCU) to the Zeus capacity rather than one with half the grided cargo.
Defo could look at it also maybe the max with 120 could be a good one to test against it. But to be fair the c1 can fit 96. 32 less than the Zeus
Those ships are way bigger though. Like WAY bigger.
@@CitizenScottok if hull dimensions are more important than components and actual cargo grid, let's go with the freelancer max. Even though the Way bigger ship does not have double the cargo grid space, even the Taurus. Considering it is a cargo focused comparison.
@@Volf1916 I agree the MAX is the best comparison.
How is this fun
It all depends on what you want to do in the game, some may not look at box missions as fun but others do, it was box missions that lured me in
Yeah i shoulda kept my C1.
Cope harder 😂
Eh? lol not sure what you mean. I was looking forward to the Zeus, I went and bought it ages ago and if cargo was auto load like it was when I got it, it would be a great ship, but now we have manual loading at 90% of places it doesn’t make sense to pick it over a c1
@@nerdglider well first thing to say is..roc has nothing to do with cargo hauling? and second thing is....duh yes it does fit into C1 easily ?
