@@EvenLease44 You mentioned that refueling in Pyro is... difficult... at the moment. This begs 2 questions: 1.) Would a Starfarer be helpful here? and 2.) Does the Starfarer even work correctly now (as in: can you refuel ships with it)? Last time I tried a few months ago refueling a Reclaimer it went bad, to say the least. Tried at least a dozen times to initiate docking. And when it finally worked, upon contact, the Starfarer glitched INTO the Reclaimer, glitched out of it a moment later and had "taken" a few cargo containers that were loosely placed in the cargo area out (while glitching through the containers somehow locked onto the cargo grid of the Starfarer and were pulled out of the Reclaimer). Long story short... can you do a current review on the Starfarer? With Pyro coming up that would be very interesting to see.
My brother recently picked up a Zeus CL, and we've been comparing it to the Spirit. Our group also flies freelancers and cuttys. I think the Spirit still holds it's weight in being able to fit 2x 32scu containers easily. Other ships in this class might be able to fit more on paper, but it becomes a game of tetris fitting everything in. And by comparison, the C1 REALLY is a solo ship. Cutlass, Zeus, Freelancers all require a couple people to get all your firepower up, but the C1 flies very comfortably as a solo ship, and we use it all the time. It never feels like the "wrong" ship to bring. It's like an f150: little bigger than it really needs to be, missing a couple features like a second exit, and it's definitely more of a pavement princess needing a big parking space. But man it just shows up and can move stuff in any environment, with any team comp, in any fleet. It's really just a fantastic ship, with a no BS design and layout that does whatever you need it to. Oh, and the engines sound absolutely insane, and that alone makes it a top tier ship.
@@mare7970 agreed, freelancer max is really good! I wish the freelancers would get a gold pass update and improve the layouts and missing features that other ships in it's class have.
@@3SmidgeEnergy i agree, also the stupid mini cargo area of the freelancer needs an overhaul. im fine if its labeled as shielded cargo, but without any further functionality, the little room doesnt make any sense.
@@mare7970 If it was up to me to fix the freelancer, I would use that mini cargo space to add weapon racks, engineering station, and maybe a kitchenette area. Then make the turret a remote turret (its 2024 come on CIG), and maybe widen the cargo bay just a little bit, and you have an updated ship that keeps the same design, while just adding missing features that other ships in it's class have.
So were the grid changes rolled back or something? I used it a few days ago and they had brought the cargo more towards the center, restricting how much you could place in the center and figured it was a deliberate change to reduce the C1's effectiveness.
I want to see more Pros and Cons for each ship. I don’t want them to meet every wish of the community. That said, if it doesn’t have a second entrance I would want to see some pros that make it worthwhile to still make it viable and question if it’s worth it because of other benefits etc
An example of how ship grids should be laid out. All these odd cargo sizes make no sense. A real hauler would never be messing around with odd grid shapes, stacking of varying box sizes. This is the perfect step up from starters that can haul.
Think of the single entrance as a security protocol. If you have 3 32SCU containers, no one can get to you fast, so you have plenty of time to jump into your bunk, launch escape pod.
Went back to the c1 after i got a zeus. The zeus was nicce but that weird cargo grid and and in flight feel just didnt feel the same as the crusader. Still my fav daily driver for cargo or roc mining
Glad the cargo grid got reverted back. Now you can get 96 SCU as 3 x 32 SCU containers and still have just enough room to squeeze by. But pure hauling run you just use the built in tractor beam and add another 8 SCU to the back area to boot. Love my C1 it just feels like home.
Escape pods are always a nice thing to have, them being the bed would make me a little paranoid. One successful cyber attack while I am sleeping and I am drifting in the void. Going down with the ship just feels more perforable than that.
A C1 Spirit would be a huge addition to my hangar. I've only been flying the arrow, and space combat gameplay in that gets a little bland after a while since it's so limited. But having a cargo hauling ship would give me a new gameplay loop and allow me to delve into other things to do.
@krushvor2774 love how Drake ships look and feel in general, for the cutlass I like the side doors and just how spacious it "feels" even if it is slightly less scu capacity.
Love the C1. It's really the ship that got me to come back to SC. I had tried the game before and was kind of meh, but I came back with ILW and tried the C1 and loved it so much I gave the game another chance.
Still believe it is one of the most gorgeous ships in Star Citizen. I think it needs a couple tweaks compared to its competition, but ultimately I still adore the ship.
i upgraded from the avenger titan to the c1. i love both and they both fill the same role, a great multi purpose solo player ship, just different sizes. my main two gripes with the c1 is that the pilot seat isn't in the centre, it just feels weird to me after using the titan for a long time. the second problem is that there's only one entrance, a ladder entrance at the front would be great. i like the fact that there's a door between the ramp and cargo area, it gives the ship a little extra security from randos on foot
Maintenance costs and expidition times are mich lower for the c1 compared to the Zeus. Which is important for me since I already have other bigger ships. I wanted a smaller all rounder that can do solo things cheaper
I personally recommend this ship, it has treated me very well. Not overly large, good amount of cargo space, and if you have a friend you can lots done but still very viable solo
I know you're usually talking about the stock loadouts of ships, but the term "capacitor" is no longer a thing in the form it was before, because now you decide how much energy you put into your guns, so it's no longer some set magical capacitor varying with ships, but the guns themselves and how much power you have to put into them to achieve their maximum performance. Generally the DPS of cannons got reduced and also how much a 'magazine' of any gun can hold though, so it's still true that the Spirit lost DPS.
I have the C1, love it. Waiting for the Best in Show paints to be delivered, then I'll apply the C1 -> Zeus CL upgrade I've got hanging out in my hanger. 🙂
This ship is amazing for its price one of the best daily drivers out there, i also really appreciate the pyro streams, excited about 4.0 even if its a little lighter on content
As someone who works in aviation as a structures mechanic, I work on freight planes for a living, at a heavy maintenance facility. The idea that a cargo ship would only have one entry point sounds absolutely absurd to me. This ship would have been my daily driver if had more than one way to climb inside. I could forgive the 1 entry point if the cargo ramp were slightly bigger to allow for an Ursa to be able to fit in it's cargo hold (You can fit one if you shoot off the wheels). I huge missed opportunity which I hope that CIG will rectify, but I'm not going to hold my breath. The Freelancer MAX will always be my ship of choice in this ship size/class.
I love the C1, my only problem with it. It's that the C1 is too wide to dodge bunker torrets and too big to land in front of bunkers, but the Cutlass doesn't have those problems.
I really love the look of the ship, both inside and out. Don't have it yet but i will probably get one ingame at some point. But to me it feels as if it loses out to the Freelancer most of the time. C1 and Freelancer have the same (ingame) price and comparable weapons loadout. But the Freelancer has far better shields, has more acces points and can carry more cargo while still being a lot smaller.
Totally understandable! I am also excited to see the Intrepid, it'll be smaller than this ship! You can also fly this ship during the IAE event in a couple weeks (nov 22nd) for free!
Love the design of this ship. Just wish there was value in the huge chunky wings. They dont house components, they dont house missiles, they dont seem to improve flight performance. Why are they there?
I love the look and feel of the Spirit series. However, when the Zeus Mk II CL was released I immediately can see it as a better cargo hauler. if you were planning on running the Spirit C1 as a daily, which I have for the past while now, it does a decent job, but it's not amazing. Compared to the Zeus the only thing it does better is speed and maneuverability from what I have experienced. (I don't own a Zeus). Looking at the Spiti's model in 3D I feel like we could get an extra 8 SCU on either side of the ship in the cargo bay if some more hull was taken out. Or, better yet, allow us to store 3x 32 SCU boxes (2 on the side, one in the middle on grid) with a small ladder somewhere on the ship for access; like the Zeus. This all being said, I wouldn't be surprised if there's another ship released within the next 2 years that "dethrones" the Zeus.
It wasn't the capacitors that got nerfed, instead all cannons got a max ammo count of 15 on all ships regardless of the capacitor. You can test this out by removing some of the cannons, and it's still capped at 15 ammos despite having more power for each
Hello sir, I'm so amazed by your work! Everything is at its best, from the beginning including the intro following with a detailed and refreshed view of existing ships without giving any tiny detail left! But could I ask for a Valkyrie review? There are many TAC wanters but I don't think we are ready for such beautiful and powerful Wessel! I think Valkyrie is good for the start and awaiting time, she is smaller but yet powerful for multicrew, can I ask for a review ? I know there are many Valkyrie reviews but these are very outdated!
I really love this ship, but the biggest dealbreaker for me was the small hanger issue it had on release, which made me melt it for a Connie. I kind of miss mine again, now...
My only complaint about this ship is the fact that I wish the entrance was a little larger to fit the Nursa. Other than that, it's a good daily driver.
Yeah in the current gameplay it’s not the end of the world, just kind of annoying. Soon with fire propagation and engineering, having one entrance might be a lot more than a little annoying haha
Mostly agree. It's Crusader, so it's pretty and it flies really well. The primary detractor for me is the landing footprint. The Spirit is just unnecessarily wide. It's better now that it gets a medium hangar, but the Freelancer and Freelancer Max are just overall the clear winners in this size class. Though I'm using a Cutty Black as my low volume hauler right now. Being able to sling boxes out the side doors straight onto an elevator is definitely the way to go.
Yeah, I landed a A1 Spirit, Zeus ES and a Connie Taurus in the same spot at Brios, in front of the cargo lift. The Spirit just squeezes in. Overall the Spirit is faster than the Zeus, but the Zeus has more shields, and I like the cockpit design.
@shawnc5188 I really wanted to like the Zeus, but I can't get past the tiny cargo ramp. It flies amazingly well, but I just need to accept that I'm a more a MISC guy than RSI.
I picked the Freelancer over the C1 and the Cutty Black. Mainly because that was the shop my sons showed me tore me into the game. I now love it despite its ludicrously aged design. I'd do like the C1, though, and have played around with it. Speaking of the Freelancer, you might want to look at it again, as they've increased its speed and handling a bit. It still suffers from its aging design, though.
Now that they have changed the hangar size for this ship so it doesn't bang against the sides when it lands I find it more enjoyable to use. I think I do prefer the Zeus CL for a daily a bit more if I don't plan on doing any cargo.
My #1 choice if I had to choose an all-rounder to be my primary ship. The one entry is the biggest annoyance I have that I think they should change. The other issues are rule-of-cool (very wide with the empty wing space/think they could extend another row of cargo out or make it large enough to carry a bigger vehicle to make it a bit more special) or are balance issues or way to make it unique (ie low shield but showing Crusader quality through high hitpoints). But the one entry just makes no sense from a logical design standpoint. A quality manufacture like Crusader wouldn't have done that for safety/convenience/usefulness.
I never see the lack of a second entrance a negative. I've used both the Zeus and this, and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've used the ladder exit on the Zeus. When you have a cargo ship, you do most of your gameplay revolving around cargo, which means you'll be in the cargo bay anyway.
While true my mind always comes back to “when fire is here” or “when engineering and component failures are here” what ship will be the one to stand on top for crew survival when it’s time to evacuate!
I really regret upgrading my referral-reward-CCU'd-to-Cutty-Black to the C1. Even with the double cargo hold (effectively) of a Cutty, the C1 just feels inferior. Sleeker looking, sure, but functionally inferior.
I was so excited for this ship, but ultimately the Zeus ended up being exactly what I wanted this to be. I keep giving Crusader a chance and apart from the Herc, I keep being let down :(
C1 is to big for my taste, but still it's very valuable ship. For now I stick to Cutlass series. Smaller, faster, better manuverbility, I need only to equip Cutty Black with bucket due to lack of toilet.
I feel like the spirit series needs to be revisited because why do the different variants of the Zeus have different component amounts but the spirits don’t? Like the A1 needs to get at least one more shield since it is more likely to become under fire then the other due to it being a bomber
I currently have a Zeus CL and as nice as it is I just can’t decide how I feel about the cargo grid. I previously had a c1 and melted it some time ago but I’m seriously thinking about getting it again. The shop looks soooo sleek and I like how straightforward it is to load cargo… not a huge fan of playing Tetris to get the most out of my Zeus. Thoughts?
I agree the CL's cargo grid is a mess but you can still achieve a good amount of SCU on it before it becomes annoying. The deciding factor for me was the size of both ships compared (the c1 is quite a bit bigger) and the amount of entrances but if that doesn't bother you then you have to pick which you feel most comfortable with! Both are fantastic options.
C1 after the CL/ES seems a step back, poor access which is a big security issue in.....well anywhere. I buy ships as an indulgence so know nothing od stats, but the C1 is pretty, has some nice paints. Wouldn't use the Spirits anymore thay are sub-standard, and not the new standard. Intersting though, luv your Pyro vids, very inspiring. Kudos
I think the C1 is a really nice ship, though I do not currently have one in my ASOP list. I'll get one some day when I have some spare (few millions) of UEC to spend on it. :-)
I Would really love to give my mini normandy a 10/10 but there are a few things that are not so great. - only one entrance - having crucial components "exposed" at the only entrance - no defensive turret - very weak shielding - small fuel amount If these things are improved at some point it would become the perfect small allround freighter.
Are you sure the rest stops aren't working? I found a random Pico sitting in my Shower/Toilet and it recommended I fly to Gaslight Station. I do LOVE the C1, but honestly would use the Zeus over it. I'm really excited for the Intrepid and Starlancer Max.
Man I would love to win this one. I've been grinding it since I started and I love it since the day they released it. I know the Zeus MkII is better, but this big girl is just ❤️❤❤
You should take the C1 over to Terminus, heard its a great planet that grants you the force I did not know the C1 had missile bays that come out from the ship, very cool!
I've flown one and really liked its handling... but disliked the single entry\exit (a lot). I've pretty much decided to stick with my Cutlass Black until I can buy a Zeus in game.
I"ve always liked the Freelancer and the Cutlas Black is a competent fighter (Fasster, more maneuverable) also with one shsield. HOwever, the CUtty is paper thin compared to this ship, and while it only has one shield, Lik ethe Cutlas BNlack, I like the look and cargo ccapability, its quick to load 232 SCU container, and having the tractor bean is great (Cutlass hass it, this one iss better, only Connie Taurus has sslightly beter possssitioning of Tractor Beam). Wasss tempted by the Zeusss CL or ESS, but ultimately, this shas more than twice the HP of a Zeuss. and its not as big.
Another complete review. I love this ship so much, I feel like there isn't another ship that directly competes with this one. I just wish it had better shield and capacitors, and another entrance (a ladder like the Zeus's would've been amazing)
You mentioned the tractor beam being hit or miss... Does it actually work? It never worked for me that's why I went for the Zeus, it's tractor beam has worked for me 100% of the time.
It works but its positioning makes it really difficult to move boxes, as it’s directly over the middle of the ship so it doesn’t allow smooth movement - especially with bigger boxes!
We have some exciting new ships coming to the verse soon, keep an eye out for the reviews! Thank you for watching!

@@EvenLease44 thank you!! You do great reviews btw!! Look to you for all my ship info
One of the reasons I love the C1 so much is the grid. The Zeus for example just... feels wrong. C1 is an amazing ship!
I agree, the C1's grid is much easier to handle compared to the Zeus!
I really love this ship, but the biggest dealbreaker for me was the small hanger issue it had on release, which made me melt it for a Connie. I kind of miss mine again, now...
Well the ship now has a bigger hangar.. if you know.. you wanna give it another shot!
It's a good day when an evenlease ship review drops.
Now if I could play on the servers it would be even better!
3.24.2a can't come soon enough
You’re awesome! I agree the patch needs to be doing some patching and get live back up to speed!!
My only complaint about this ship is the fact that I wish the entrance was a little larger to fit the Nursa.
Other than that, it's a good daily driver.
I have t say with my gameplay style, I never used the side entrances on the Cutty Black. One entrance was definitely not a deal breaker.
Yeah in the current gameplay it’s not the end of the world, just kind of annoying. Soon with fire propagation and engineering, having one entrance might be a lot more than a little annoying haha
I actually love the C1 Spirit
great stuff man
Thank you!!
Thanks for the update, I’ll take a look at the freelancer again and see if the changes warrant another video!
Now that they have changed the hangar size for this ship so it doesn't bang against the sides when it lands I find it more enjoyable to use. I think I do prefer the Zeus CL for a daily a bit more if I don't plan on doing any cargo.
The best change ever having the hangar size adjusted!
C1 is such a beautiful ship.
I have a C1, but I find myself using the Freelancer MAX for hauling missions more often. The MAX grid is much more useful.
The max is fantastic!
Would of been nice to have a Lou while out on our space adventures
I feel like the spirit series needs to be revisited because why do the different variants of the Zeus have different component amounts but the spirits don’t? Like the A1 needs to get at least one more shield since it is more likely to become under fire then the other due to it being a bomber
This would make total sense to have component variation between variants! Let’s hope this happens sooner rather than later!
I do like this ship, but a ladder entrance in the cockpit would be a great improvement.
That would be amazing!
Where were you flying this? A body of free standing, unfrozen water on Microtech? Or were you flying this somewhere in Pyro?
Flying this on the planet of bloom in pyro!
Kudos
This is a great ship and I hope that the Freelancer gets an update to help match this.
The C1 has been my daily driver for a long time
Its a great daily driver!
I still think it's one of their best.
It is quite phenomenal! Can't wait to see of the Intrepid dethrones it, in a way.
I think the C1 is a really nice ship, though I do not currently have one in my ASOP list. I'll get one some day when I have some spare (few millions) of UEC to spend on it. :-)
I Would really love to give my mini normandy a 10/10 but there are a few things that are not so great.
- only one entrance
- having crucial components "exposed" at the only entrance
- no defensive turret
- very weak shielding
- small fuel amount
If these things are improved at some point it would become the perfect small allround freighter.
I agree with all your points! I’m hoping the intrepid avoids some of these issues.
this is my dream ship, im still on the mustang but saving up :P
Such a beautiful ship
It really is!
Are you sure the rest stops aren't working? I found a random Pico sitting in my Shower/Toilet and it recommended I fly to Gaslight Station. I do LOVE the C1, but honestly would use the Zeus over it. I'm really excited for the Intrepid and Starlancer Max.
We do not speak of Gaslight! The only thing that station refuels is NIGHTMARES. I’m super excited for the intrepid and max as well… cannot wait!
Man I would love to win this one. I've been grinding it since I started and I love it since the day they released it. I know the Zeus MkII is better, but this big girl is just ❤️❤❤
You should take the C1 over to Terminus, heard its a great planet that grants you the force
I did not know the C1 had missile bays that come out from the ship, very cool!
Ah yes, terminus where you find your true potential with the force. 😂😂
@ Its basically dagobah, minus the swamps 😂
Grid update was nice
I will be going to this during IAE, the cutlass has served me well but it’s just fallen too far behind the competition
Awesome videos
Thank you!!
Is the damage per second still true? Because when I look to the RSI website, I see 2 slot of type 3 weapons, not 4 as it said here. Thanks for help!
I feel a decent replacement for the C1 will have to be the Zeus CL.
The Zeus is hit and miss deepening on how you handle cargo, the CL’s grid is very funky and makes it difficult.
I loved my C1, but the lack of amenities and the rediculous wingspan pushed me to the Zeus CL and I haven't looked back
Its a surprisingly big ship given its small interior!
@EvenLease44 it was worse when the C1 was assigned small hangars. You really had to line yourself up perfectly to fit
if it only has one entrance, how does loading the center aisle work then if you need it to get to the cockpit
I've flown one and really liked its handling... but disliked the single entry\exit (a lot). I've pretty much decided to stick with my Cutlass Black until I can buy a Zeus in game.
What upgrades ya recommend for the c1 just got it a few weeks ago.
it makes me sad that an ursa cant fit in the cargo bay.
i love the Spirit series , but it needs a second Entry :D
I agree! Needs another one!
It absolutely needs better components or more and a second entrance!
My main ship, crusader knows how to make them
Crusader is good at two things… ships and making doors!
@EvenLease44 Thats right!
9:53 can a PICO fit in the prisoner pods/escape pods?
Absolutely.. 😈
Great Info, don't want that one, the Zeus is my choice.
Zeus is a great ship!
It’s my daily driver, but the tractor beam is really hit or miss
