Henry Cavill's training for the role consisted of extensive sword-training (besides the rigorous bodybuilding required to prepare his physique for the camera). He said, "I spent all of my free time, and when I wasn't on set, with a sword in my hand. It was getting used to the weight of the sword, using it day in and day out. I had three swords where I lived, and four at work. And it was just non-stop practice, practice, practice."

For those that didn't read the books, Geralt was *very* sad that he killed all those people, and eventually (the one who sent them). So much so that he had to go to a temple of healing for a while to get it off his mind. The show kind of just glosses over this as if it was another day in the life of Geralt.

I understand that it's idiotic screenplay, directors, writers and so on blame for the most part, but Henry didn't help one bit with the situation. For people who do not understand this scene:
Geralt killed off those goons because they wanted to murder all those people on the market to force Stregobor to leave his tower so that Renfri could kill him. Geralt decides to kill them for "the lesser evil" that he did not believe in at first. At the end people throw rocks at him and tell him to leave Blaviken forever while he actually saved their lives, but without them knowing that. Then Marilka, (Marilka's father in the book) who knew what really happened, tells him to leave to leave anyway because of Geralt's safety.
I hoped I kinda informed some people because this story was very unclearly explained in the series and you actually have to read the book to really understand it.

I understand your point but I've seen a lot worse than this tbh, I thought they done quite a good job with how fast he was at taking them out, didn't really give much of a chance to group together and fight, he dealt with each fighter within seconds of engaging them.

When i first started watching the witcher, i have no clue that geralt was played by henry, known as the actor of superman. His voice is just so different and it took me 2 episodes to realize that he is indeed the actor of superman. This just proves that he is a great actor as it seems that he can take off a personality and wear a new one for a new character.

with the style of combat here the reverse grip is actually perfectly fine and was used in this manner for hundreds of years. Reverse grip is good with the grapple/stabbing motions he's mainly using here and you can see him change his grip when switching to slashing motions.

Witcher is not a fencing master. He uses sword as counter balance and to deliver killing blow and not for swordplay.
That's why he might hold it awkward and why carry it on his back, which is considered ridiculous in that world.

Hey can we all just stop for one second and truly appreciate the camera work at play here? Look at any fight scene from say the Bourne ultimatum, then watch this. They don't change the camera 750 times in 20 seconds. In fact this is one single shot with Cavill ACTUALLY doing the action. Bravo to whomever put this scene together. Thank you for making it watchable and also extremely badass. They did the same thing in GOT battle of the bastards with the tracking shot of John fighting his way to ramsay.

The bandits were supposed to disguise themselves as regular civilians in town just for the big market fair. They were going to kill innocent people one by one until the mage came out but Geralt put a stop to that. That’s how it went in the books. Killing bandits and ruffians is one in the forests thing but killing people in town is uncivilized 😂

In truth this akes sense, novigrad is a huge city where there are countless thieves and underground criminals. Huge gang slaughters are common and dont necessarilyhappen in the open like that. Many of the slaughters in novigrad were probbaly just attributed to gang wars. In this case the entire village was watching him kill a huge gang relative to this small town.
