You convinced me, purchased and had ford install today, 2hrs labor at 130.00hr here in south Florida. Also bought the kn prefilter like you. I can 100% say that this is a huge difference in daily driving and performance. I immodestly felt the change and the power, the exhaust is significantly more aggressive and poppy like you also said. I would recommend this upgrade for anyone
I have a 2020 gt pp1. Ford has a kit for the 2018+ now but it's over $1000. I'm all about that low end torque gains but yet the factory intake on the 18+ flows just as well as any CAI so I want to keep the stock box. Idk if the stock intake will fit over the 87 mm throttle body tho. So over a grand for a throttle body and tune is too expensive.
Also FYI you have to remember to get your file PC3 file from ford after they program your car? They had no clue what I was talking about, it’s in bold print in the manual. I had to help them find it, it auto generates a file with your cars VIN number. This file is needed if you ever need an update or changes to the tune that they program into your vehicle
I can see how the No Lift is hard to get used too especially the older you are too.. You spend your whole life doing things a certain way and then you can't even lift your foot a little.. That will be very hard for me to get used too. I will probably never use it if I do go with this kit.. But this has been a great video on it on the power pack 2..
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you so much for this video. The part you talked about with the clutch heating up causing chattering when pulling off from a light or stop sign is a question I have wanted answered for so long. My car does that and always wondered why. Now I know it isn't permanent. Cheers
I got 12.5 at 109mph PP2 plus corsa extreme cat back. 20x265 P zeros tires. 2015 GT Convertible 6mt with 331 or 3.55 gears not sure with ones i got. Video coming soon.
Great video on the Ford Perfomance "after Market" power pack 2. There is also a Performance Pack 2 that you can order as an option on the 2018 mustang GT for a limited time....this is different than that.
See I bought my 17 Used from a Chevy dealer.. And I have gone to 7400/7500 RPM without any power loss or Power cutting out.. It only had 1 owner and 8,909 miles on it when I bought it and it did have an Xpipe on it too.. So I don't know if it was tuned or not but the Xpipe is a sign that something may have been done.. The car looked garage kept and still smells like it just came off the line and I have had it 8 months now and put 2,600 miles on it since I have owned it.. But I try to shift at 7100 to 7200 RPM only when I am pushing the car. Most of the time I short shift and just cruise it around and rarely ever go past 7000 RPM.. But there's been those few times where I've went to 7500 by accident and no power cut.. LOL.. So IDK..
@ellared4.9 Got the install completed today. Feels good. Now that the sound tube is gone, it is much quieter in the cabin -- may convince me to get a new exhaust eventually. Anyway, can you point me to the product page for your water-resistant filter cover?
I just put a roush CAI on my eco boost, its ran rich for about a week before it learned to lean back out. When i add the new Ford Performance Throttle body to it im going to undo the battery to see if that will help.
Great review.....Installing this kit on a 2016 GT......This will complete the build using all Ford Racing parts......Not sure if I should change out the 5.0 emblems to GT 350 for another $60 each.....Thanks for more knowledge......God Bless......
Thank you for the video! I have an appointment to get mine on Monday! If I drive normally and don't want to use the NLS, can I just not use it? I heard some people claim it stutters.
Great review vid sir! I see that you also have the GT350 steering wheel. Sounds great. I also went with the PP2, the red lined steering wheel, exhaust and all that. However, although I do like a lot the no lift shift for drag days, for track days is too violent. Can confirm: - Stuttering sounds: it tends to engage too easily AFTER the next gear was already in place and throttle is engage too quick, the engine feels like it’s coughing a fur ball for half a second. The NLS rev limiter doing its thing (feels like a bug in programming to me). - A lot more burbles and exhaust sounds when engine braking. Very rarely sometimes I have had a full single “plack” exhaust blast sound, that sound that an overly tuned car or almost super old falling apart car makes. - At the very beginning of the tune the car was all weird for about 100miles, then all good (mostly accel reaction in my case, don’t know about engine knock, don’t even know how that sounds...) Nice downshifts 👍
I was installed power pack 2 on my 2017 mustang. But every time after I turn off the engine it will have a sound “ BOOM“ from the engine. I don’t know if that is normal or not. Do you guys have the same problem?
Nice vid, I went with the PP1 because I hate the GT350 intake (I had it on the power pack for ecoboost last year). One suggestion, if you're pulling timing bad change the spark plugs, the OEM ones are gapped all over the place. I had a huge spread in mine, just replaced with motorcraft ones from the dealer and they were spot on. Also check for updates to the tune, there have been one or two by now.
@ellared4.9 - purchased the filter wrap. Did you remove the air filter to install the wrap, or were you able to fit the filter wrap over the filter while installed? Mine seems like a tight fit without removing the air filter first...
I have this kit in the box waiting for a little free time to install on my '15 GT Prem 50yr, 3.31 rear end. I like your take on paper filters and the silicone cover also. You said you have a base GT - 3.31 gear correct? Thanks for the great review.
Very cool. Couple questions for you, I want to scuff and paint the top of my coolant reservoir matte black, I'll remove, mask connections and hot/cold markings. See any issues with that? I don't see dropping $100 for a plastic cover or aftermarket tank. Also, how important is an oil separator IYO?
Adam Mohler my catch can is about 75% full every 6000 miles, so I think it's worth the price of admission. As far as painting the coolant reservoir it's really hard to do a good paint job yourself it will likely flake off after time passes.
ellared4.9 Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be looking into a catch can. I may try to scuff a small area on the bottom of the coolant tank and brush paint a test strip then do a peel test. Plastics will react to paint in strange ways depending on their composition. Part of me thinks even a failed paint job would look better than the stock plastic look, figured maybe it's worth a shot.
@ellared4.9 So the power pack 2 changes the redline to over 7000 rpm, right? Does the physical redline move to accommodate this change, or is it just something we just have to realize after installation?
You’re so knowledgeable on this I wonder if you can answer a question, or point me in the right direction... my dealer installed Stage 2 pp for me in late ‘17, and I was really happy with the performance difference. They used their own laptop and never gave me any files or downloads afterwards. A few months ago, a check engine light resulted in them replacing my entire intake manifold, and I swear (it could be my imagination) I feel like it’s lost a step. Tech told me replacing the intake manifold did not change the Stage 2pp tune, and said there’s no point in trying to reapply the tune, though I’m not even sure they saved what would be needed. My question- could it be true that replacing the manifold, and doing whatever programming that required, would not impact the Stage 2 pp tune? Is there any way my car can tell me what tune it’s running. I’ve had good experience with my dealer till now, but this situation is frustrating. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
The car would run horribly and have a Check Engine Light if the dealer installed the factory Calibration with PP2 hardware on the car. You could try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and seeing if that helps, but it's quite difficult to diagnose issues without actually being there to look at the car myself.
ellared4.9 That’s helpful- didn’t think about the idea that the stock calibration wouldn’t run right with the larger throttle body and intake. It’s probably ok then, as it runs fine. It doesn’t lack power, and I fully acknowledge that it may just be my imagination. Maybe I got so used to the better performance over the last year that it feels normal now. Thanks again.
1st question Where did you buy it for $608? I paid $670 from. CJ ponny. Second question i will be installing PP2 at a regular ford dealer. They told me 2 bring my own laptop for a tune part. Do you think this will not effect the warranty? And also, do i have to send a receipt from a dealership or on top of that do i have to get a licence number of the technician that did the install? Looks like they will have me upload the tune by myself at their facility. Any tips, to look for any problems right the way after the install?
Ivan Fedyshyn I got mine from Levittown Ford with free shipping during Black Friday. You want to use your own Laptop and down load the program with your email before you go to the installer, so that if anything happens, the stock tune will be on your laptop (not the dealer's). Also, if you need to adjust a setting in the calibration (there's only 2 or 3), you can do that from the program on the laptop. It will have no effect on the warranty. You'll need to keep your reciepts for the install AND the original purchase reciept. Scan them and e-mail them to Ford Performance's warranty division. If a dealer installs it, you shouldn't need the technician's credentials. Make sure they don't crack the airbox at the bottom from corner by shoving it in and make sure the MAF sensor wiring has enough slack and is properly secured to the air box using the provided clip
Great video👌 been thinking about either this or the power pack 3 i had a pro cal tune on my 13 and was very dissatisfied with it but this looks more promising.
@@fredboy007 Can you add a little more clarity on the part from Amazon? Ran that part number in amazon, and all I saw over 20 pages of parts were computer parts. Want to keep mine as stock looking as possible. I appreciate the write up. Been looking at it a while for my PP 2016, and this answered quite a few questions I had.
Those kits were known to cause spark knock and run too lean. Wait till it gets hot gets worse in traffic. That hood vent will still mist water on the filter too.
Do you get any hesitation or like a little hiccup between shifts at WOT when not using no lift shift, mine does it and I suspect it has something to do with the no lift shift map
Martin5.0 if you removed or changed the clutch pedal spring, it'll likely cause that issue. Other wise, you likely aren't removing your foot completely off of the clutch before apply the throttle during fast shifts.
ellared4.9 I don’t think it’s that I’m pretty sure it’s in the tune, not to be snarky but I’m well versed in how to use the clutch and when using no lift, it works as it should it’s just WOT shifts without using no lift there’s a hiccup when the clutch is let out and you floor it in the new gear... just wondering if anyone else with the stage 2 experienced this, Thks for reply👍🏽
Martin5.0 I've been driving cars with manuals over a decade, but I still make mistakes. Everyone that I've heard having that issue, including myself, was because of the issues mentioned above. You could have a defective clutch switch, but it's unlikely. It's also highly unlikely that it's the calibration. Thank you for checking out the video, by the way
Martin5.0 I've had the power pack 2 on mine for about 6 months and I have the EXACT same issue. I had mine installed at the dealer to keep the warranty and took it back to them after I noticed the issue. They claim that everything is fine and that since there are no codes it is performing as it should. I also contacted the Ford Performance tech line and they referred me back to the dealer....no help. It does not have the hiccup if I actually USE the no lift shift, only happens when shifting aggressively above 5k rpm, WOT and when I dump the clutch in the next gear.
Jacob C. I can live with it, it’s more annoying then anything, I’m positive it’s a tuning issue the computer glitches when you floor the gas kinda like it thinks you want the no lift because your flooring it other then that I definitely feel the power gain and I like the package, it’s not a big enough issue to get rid of it
Unless you gave them your laptop or a storage device to put the stock calibration on, you don't have it. It can't be saved to the procal tool. The tech that installed the calibration may still have it in the computer he used if he hasn't deleted it.
So before I left for the dealership, I actually downloaded the ProCal tune on my laptop using my voucher number. So the dealership actually used my laptop for the calibration because it could only be downloaded one time using the voucher. Then when they gave me a storage device with the stock calibration, it was the same file name as the ProCal calibration I downloaded from Ford Performance. I'm worried they may have just given me the ProCal calibration on accident. What does your stock calibration file name look like?
Jeff W I can't remember, but I'll try and look it up when I get some free time. I wouldn't worry too much about it though; you shouldn't need the stock tune for anything
I was just thinking if I ever wanted to re-install the factory intake if I decided to sell eventually, I would need to re-tune to the stock calibration. Thanks for your help.
@@fredboy007 Ok, just wanted to make sure nobody was copying your page. You think adding long tube headers with this setup is worth it? I’m in CA so it’s 91 octane only.
OGmedia only if my foot isn't completely off of the clutch pedal. I also have the stock clutch helper spring. I've noticed that people that remove it, tend to have more issues.

Bill Lovest if you buy Ford Performance parts and register everything properly with Ford then your warranty will be honored. There are only a few parts not warranted but I’m not sure which ones exactly. The Mustang Performance Parts are all covered as far as I know. The best way to do it is to buy the parts and have them installed by your Ford dealership. The dealership should register the parts and installation with Ford but you can have an independent shop install them and register everything yourself. He talks about it a little bit in the video. Here’s a link for all the warranty information on Ford’s Performance Parts. performanceparts.ford.com/warranty/include/pdf/Select_Parts_Warranty_Statement_2017v2.pdf
Ryan Lange thank you I really appreciate your help I’m thinking about even going with the stage 1 since my car is a Daily driver I’ve read that some people are complaining about water in the filter, and I also don’t like the idea of the car running Hot, this is confusing. I just got the Ford Racing Borla Exhaust Yesterday and want to buy everything together so I can Ford put it in all at the same time.
Bill Lovest no problem. Here’s a link that takes you directly to Ford’s Performance Parts website if you don’t already have it. All their parts available for the Mustang and other cars is on here as well as all the warranty information. Good luck. performanceparts.ford.com/
Mike UT the gains are definitely noticeable, but not mind blowing. I wouldn't expect that just from an intake and tune; regardless of who you buy it from. Others say it's a massive difference, i'm just not one to exaggerate.

ellared4.9 I don’t think it’s that I’m pretty sure it’s in the tune, not to be snarky but I’m well versed in how to use the clutch and when using no lift, it works as it should it’s just WOT shifts without using no lift there’s a hiccup when the clutch is let out and you floor it in the new gear... just wondering if anyone else with the stage 2 experienced this, Thks for reply👍🏽
Jacob C. I can live with it, it’s more annoying then anything, I’m positive it’s a tuning issue the computer glitches when you floor the gas kinda like it thinks you want the no lift because your flooring it other then that I definitely feel the power gain and I like the package, it’s not a big enough issue to get rid of it
Hi,Just trying to find that pre-filter. Where'd you get it ?
Dean Oliver K&N RF-1020DL
Does the tune change the fuel type from 87 to 93?
Running anything less than 91 octane fuel would negate and performance gains and cause damage to the engine with this calibration.
base mustang gt does have a sport mode. push traction control twice
Michael Carnes yea, I know, but it only loosens up the stability control settings a little.
Can you post link where you order from?
NCGUNS I bought it from Jegs and had them price match White Bear Lake Ford's Black Friday deal.
Does the intake tube leave an open vacuum tube after install for 2017 Mustangs?
Jeff Walker i think so, I'm not for certain though
Is this bad I have a 2017 also we have a extra vacuum tube over a 15-16?
I thought they give you a plug to fit in the vaccun
Is your steering stock? Not sure if I've seen the flat bottom steering on the GT
Haroon Shahab it's an X550 steering wheel from Late Model Restoration.
@ellared4.9 How do I know if the dealership actually handed over the stock tune to my car after the install? Can I email/message you?
Thaaank you!
Can You Run E85 with it ?
Only with a proflex commander
Good review. Thanks.
Good information
What's your exhaust set up?

Did you change your name?
Yes
@@fredboy007 Ok, just wanted to make sure nobody was copying your page. You think adding long tube headers with this setup is worth it? I’m in CA so it’s 91 octane only.
@@mikehughes8023 the O2 sensor placement is different with longtubes and may not be safe for the engine with this calibration.
Need to put some coolant in that thing.
Do you get that stutter or stumble if you don't use the NLS while switching gears on the higher rpm?
OGmedia only if my foot isn't completely off of the clutch pedal. I also have the stock clutch helper spring. I've noticed that people that remove it, tend to have more issues.
@@fredboy007 how often would you say it doesn't work for you? 10% of the shifts?
@@NeonDude20 that sounds about right
@@fredboy007 Hmm that's unfortunate...I think that would hold me back from getting this...
I installed SYNC 3 from Hellhorse and programed the new bezel... Now I have all driving modes in my base GT... I upgraded so I can out the phone away given new laws in FL, so the drive modes was a bonus ;-). www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/hellhorse-performance-digital-cluster-and-sync-3-upgrade-bundle.121149/#post-2808189
Greetings I bought my 2015 in December with a 84 Month 100,000 mile warranty will putting this in void out that warranty? I see there is a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty I paid like 3,8000 and don’t want to loose the one I got

Bill Lovest it's best to contact Ford Performance, I don't know for certain.
Good luck.

So the power gains are "meh"? It seems, by your tone, its a pretty underwhelming tune?
Mike UT the gains are definitely noticeable, but not mind blowing. I wouldn't expect that just from an intake and tune; regardless of who you buy it from. Others say it's a massive difference, i'm just not one to exaggerate.
I think hes just meh cuz at the end of the day, you always want to go faster!
I have been planning to do this Kit and thats funny because I've been thinking planning on drilling out the same spots on my grill too even if I don't do the kit I was still going to open that grill up a little more.. ruclips.net/video/GEJINM-16Pk/видео.html

It's the x550 steering wheel from LMR.
