  • We meet the team at Skyline Campers who talk about one of their VW T6.1 4Motion Camper-Vans and we then take it for a drive on the wild side over a 4WD proofing ground. Being an AWD 4motion van with no rear diff lock, we drove the van over obstacles we felt the average person would drive so for all those die hard off-road enthusiasts, stay tuned as we hear there is a SWB 4motion weapon being built by Skyline that we have been given permission to shall we say, “push it a little harder”, all for the love of travel of course 🤪.

    This van is far more capable than what you guys took it through. These are the obstacles which even a Corolla can overcome with a bit of scraping

    Excellent video once again Alex! I love the short grabs giving some idea of where the van can go. I also like the fact that you are being true to the name (4Motion adventures)...you are not just reviewing Trakka but showcasing other Australian conversion companies of this fantastic vehicle. I plan to do a course with Vic Widman once I get my 4 Motion soon from Campervans Australia. Perhaps we could meet up sometime and you could give my vehicle a go. I have incorporated a number of modifications and accessories based on what I have seen in your videos, so thanks for that, it gave me a little bit of joy to watch them during our 250 plus days of lockdown in Melbourne!

      Thanks Ian. Appreciate your kind words. Yes we are true to two things. 1. Our love for the 4motion machine. 2. The love of travel. And we will continue to share information on any builder of these vans to bring information to the public who reaches out to us because we think there is a van builder that suits everyone. Cheers. Alex.

      Hey Ben from Korea. Nice to meet you. I hope VW import these vans into Korea. If not, reach out to them and rattle some cages cause we think these vans should be all over the planet spreading the vibe brother. Stay safe, stay well and if you ever come to australia let us know. Cheers. Alex and Olga.

    with running an adjustable suspension kite like that, did they lower the rear diff like Seikel do?

    One other point I would like to open up for debate. The use of induction cooker. My van will have 240Ah Lithium batteries, 360w solar on the roof and also a 300w solar blanket and a 2000w inverter. However, I was recommended not to run an induction cooker because it would still suck too much power. I originally bought a Ecotouch portable induction cooker (as used by Achtung Campers as an option) but I returned it and decided to stay with just the gas hob in the van and my portable coleman gas/butane cooker. I considered a diesel cooker but decided against it because my wife is Asian and likes to use a wok and she comments that she can't control the heat level or speed for what she wants. She does not like induction for the same reason. Any thoughts folks?

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  2 года назад +2

      Ian. Mate. Cooking outside on a humble $20 gas butane cooker is just awesome. Thats what we just used tonight and it cooker us up a treat. The diesel cooker we have which is a webasto has however also been useful in super cold climates ie -5 with snow let me tell yia. So I guess an induction cooker ain’t a bad idea depending on where you intend to go. That’s whats so cool about these vans. You can build them to suit your needs. But to me personally. I love the fact we can go bush and then retreat to the sanctitude of our home away from home. Have a good one and we hope to see you on one of our 4motion courses. Ps. We have some exciting news coming re our courses. Watch this space. Also. Please let us know what you think might be useful so we can create content to help. Cheers. Alex.

    Do you do the camper conversion in the SWB transport or just the LWB?

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  Год назад

      Gday outdoors. We don’t actually work for skyline campers.
      I understand however that they do conventions for both the SWB and LWB. Check out their website for more info. Have a good one. Cheers. Alex.

    I didn't see any Solar Panels on the Roof?

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  2 года назад

      Hey Paul. The solar panels were mentioned but not installed on this van due to the roof rack system so we were unable to secure any footage of it. We have seen it on other vans they have and it looks like a neat set
      up. If you send me an email to our email address contact@4motionadventures.com I will reach out to them on your behalf and source some pics and more info and send it over to you. Or of course I am sure if you reach out to them they will accommodate your enquiry. Hope this helps. Have a great week and thanks for the question. Cheers. Alex.

    Great introduction and test, but your test site is still not challenging enough. It seems that ordinary cars will have no problem taking these roads, right?

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  2 года назад +1

      Hey mate. I don’t think an ordinary car would do what this particular van did on our test. Ground clearance for a start would be challenging. Often the footage used to translate the tracks does not show the actual difficulty. Plus we aimed to show where these vans should be used off road for the average tourer. Remember these are AWD vans with a great traction control system. It did not have a rear diff lock which also limited where we could take it. We are told there is a short wheel base weapon being built that we will have access to for further testing and we have been given permission to push it a little harder so watch this space. Cheers. Alex.

    • @Badgerseed

      You are correct, I farm and can honestly say that the standard Highline 6.1 could handle this type of terrain if you have experience driving off-road.
      Please post another video of the van been tested to limitations.

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  2 года назад

      @@Badgerseed thanks mate. Agreed. We will ask permission to push the van a little harder when we next take one out for a spin for those interested in learning more about the extreme end of its capabilities. Ps. I hear on the grapevine that there is a kick butt SWB weapon being built that will be offered to us to shall we say “push the boundaries” so keep a look out for that vid coming in then next month or so.
      Thanks again for your feedback. Of course we have pushed our our own T6 a little harder and you can check out some of the vids we did over some of the moguls if you get some time.
      Have a good one. Cheers. Alex.

      @@4motionadventures934 I agree with Alex! There is no way my Honda Accord could go where the van just did! I think the reason it appeared so easy is because that is how excellent the 4 motion system on a raised transporter is.

      I've got the T6.1 highline multivan with rear diff lock and hill decent... the all wheel drive system is great but it goes up a notch with a diff lock...I looked at the Seikel under body protection but decided it wasn't worth one of my kidneys which I would have to sell to pay for it..surely there must be someone in Australia that can manufacture the same protection plates?... the bull bar looked like it blocked any parking sensors or were they difficult to see

    A two wheel drive would of done the same

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  Год назад

      Maybe but then again maybe not. Let me know when you are in the area and perhaps we can test it out. With the right wheel placement and road surface a 2 wheel drive can do heaps more than people think. And given you can’t buy a 4 motion new anymore it might be time to test the limits of a 2wd van. Cheers
