    Had a great comment by Fi Morrison with thanks. The comment was about whether the 20psi we dropped our tyre pressure too was when the tires were cold or hot. The answer is we had just started the day from camp and the tires where cold. The reason this is important is that tire pressures increase based on how hot the tires are. So you can expect an increase of about 4psi when the tires are hot. So if you are driving on the freeway and get to the entrance of the beach your tires will be 4psi greater than when they are cold. So if you reduce the pressure and stop on the beach for a swim fish or other, it’s a good Idea before you take off to check them again because if you have too low pressure in your tires ie below 15psi, you increase the risk of rolling the tire of the rim when you turn the vehicle and or generally drive on the beach.
    Thanks Fi Morrison great pick up and we will be sure to cover this very issue when we next to a vid. Cheers. Alex.

    Thanks for the info about driving van in to the beach. I have T4 FWD and I take it to the beach. It’s all about the tyre pressure. I usually go down to 15-18 psi. Can’t do heavy off road obviously but beach is ok.

    Hey mate, great video👍 We are thinking to buy 4 motion VW Crafter LWB to be able travel around Australia as a family of 4. Any recommendations or anything we should know before purchase? Obviously our new VW Crafter LWB will go into conversion as a home on the wheels for 2 adults and 2 kids🙂

      Hey jacekostek. Thank for your comment. Glad you liked the vid. That was the first time we took our van into the beach so it was special for us.
      Anyways. Your crafter is a great touring machine but it is limited off road by ground clearance. Given you will be travelling with 4 On board and all gear to travel around Australia you need to start thinking of your gvm to make sure you don’t exceed it. I would be considering getting a suspension upgrade and possible a gvm upgrade if it’s available. As for the van itself I have trained a few people at our 4motion driver training course with the vans and they have no drama other than watching the ground clearance. I would recommend you have a chat with Rick Toutounji at Kombilife Australia 0401 971 311 to see what they might recommend. Hope all this helps. Keep us posted on your adventures. Oh. And invest in a set of 4 maxtrax. Best bit of recovery kit you can carry in your van as you have no rates recovery points front or rear. Cheers. Alex.

      My blue broad brim hat i scored from a chemist at it’s the kooringal brand. Pretty common. I have tried to destroy it over the years but it keeps giving.

    Hi mate!! Thanks for the videos, I loved it. I’m thinking in buy it a transporter T6 4 motion 2008. My dude is about 4x4 trucks around Australia, I’m not from here so I’ll loves some advise from people who were travelling around Australia….. Would you recommend it at t6 4motion?
    Thanks a lot!!

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  2 года назад +1

      Hey mate. Depends on where you want to go and travel around australia. If you want to have the ability to have no restrictions ie cross the Simpson desert or climb the Vic high country then the 4motion is not for you. But if you want to stay on the main firmed gravel roads and perhaps tackle a few beaches then the 4motion is perfect for Aussie touring. The vans just just limited be their clearance and of course the fact they have no low range and a proper 4wd system ie a centre diff lock but the 4motion system is a very good AWD system as you see in some of our vids. Hope this helps and I hope you join the vw 4motion van love if it suits your travel needs. Cheers. Alex.

      Brand. I remember my first time on the beach at Stockton beach nsw. Did not reduce my tyre pressures and had no idea what I was doing. Thank god someone stopped to help me and teach me a few things. He even came me a spare uhf to keep in touch with him during the day. That’s what we love about the rv world. Everyone helps. Hey mate. Took my T6.1 4motion on the beach about 6 months ago and was devastated to get it bogged, I realised after that I needed to turn the traction off 😂, had it back on the beach again this week and it absolutely smashed it no problems. We’ve eyed up a couple of other spots since and been a bit wary with entrances to the beach with super deep tracks and poor clearance, do you have any advice? Or just avoid those and find beaches with better entrances

  • @SteveWebster376

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  3 года назад +2

      Steve. No mate. I would avoid the rear diff lock. What we like to see on the beach is the wheels having the chance to get traction as it moves along and the rear diff lock can possible end up causing more dramas than it is worth. They would be useful if you got stuck and had some maxtrax under them. Have a good one and that beach is a great beach to have a crack on. Cheers.

    Water wading depth, ? Hi there VW experts, keep the cool vids coming, what is safe wading depth for crafter 4motion, ?

    • @4motionadventures934
      @4motionadventures934  2 года назад +1

      Ron. Thanks for your kind comments re the vids. I know the wedding depth on our transporter is 300mil albeit with an approx life of 2inch we can play with a one 400mil. I am not 100% sure on the crafters wading depth however I am pretty sure it’s around the same. Remember the air intake sits on the right hand side of the engine back (as you face the van) and is forward facing so it’s not in the best of positions to protect the engine from water ingress. I would check the vehicles manual and be guided by what it says as being recommended. Let me know what you come up with for my own info and I will in the interim make a few enquiries and come back to you. Cheers. Alex.
