Is the VW California a good choice for Offroad-Camping? We took a closer look

The Vw-Van with its simple camping conversion is very popular, but the interior is not designed to whitstand the stress on gravel roads. We have checked a California which has already run 60.000 Kilometers, many of them on gravel roads. And the results are not that good.

I drive a T5 California and I totally love the interior, it’s the best interior fitting on the market. The only thing ratteling when I drive is what is my kitchen equipment and I drive quite a lot offroad. It is a 4 motion, with differential lock, Seikel suspension with higher clearance and underbody protection.. The rateling noise in the kitchen I fixed with the stuff you put on furniture used to prevent from scratching the floor, it looks OEM, like it belongs there. Never had problem with the cabinet in the back opening while driving. Never noticed the sounds from the table or from the windows (but they are a bit different on a t5). The cover from the roof slides a bit off, but it never fully opens. The roof tent you can have with the whole front openable (panorama dach) for some extra money and can be retroffited on any T5/T6.
