- An interesting intro before the rookie Patrick Ewing's first ever regular season game in the NBA. Thought that he footage is good enough for me to upload the whole thing, uncut. For highlights of the game search "Ewing's (18pts) NBA Debut vs. Moses Malone (35pts/13rebs) (1985)". October 26, 1985.

I loved that too! He was such a complete smooth player despite his size. Always appeared to be a classy warm person. He hurt his hand/wrist once & i remover crying when it happend. Haha I was a kid & couldn't help it!

opening night belongs to the NBA champion
season would start in October/November
playoff games would be changed
Eastern Conference Finals on CBS and TNT
Western Conference Finals on NBC
NBA finals games 1,2,5,7 on NBC games 3,4,6 on CBS
NBA TV remains with fan night Tuesdays

I watched that game and the Sixers wer e my team. Talk about baptism under fire against the hardest and one of the most underrated greats in Moses Malone.
Great times when the NBA was still watchable.
He is definitely the greatest player to ever were a kNick uniform. Strange how the Knicks never won the number one pick since that year. 1973;. 51 years and counting. still have my Ewing 1995 Jersey.

Note that this was the debut of the shortened backboard where you saw no gap between the bottom of the basket and the backboard. The reason why they closed the gap between the bottom of the basket and backboard was because players were hitting their heads on the bottom of the backboard.
