Literally the moment when The Killers knew they were going to make it, as they had no idea it was such a big hit. Took England by storm soon after that. Also became a huge single in Asia and Australia and they started touring the world months after this. Must have been the best feeling, to have that many go nuts for the first song they wrote. I love youtube for these moments.
3 days before they were playing in a club in New York City. The group always wanted their sound to be "big", the type you could blow people away in a festival, arena, or stadium. The was the first time they could actually try that, and it went so well, it changed their lives forever. Three months later they were doing big shows, within a year they were headliners and invited to Live 8. But this is the moment it all started.
Seeing this now makes me wonder if back then they could ever imagine playing this at the main stage with Johnny Marr on guitar. What a ride it has been.
Blood Romance He’s given up drinking and smoking altogether, he works out, and he eats healthy (but I don’t think he’s vegan). Those things will all make you look, feel, and sound better.
This reminds me so much of my special hubby Baldwin and his friends and the fellas who passed me around. One day their all going to be world dominating famous rappers. Mark my words. I think we may even be better.

Why didn't Brandon reach the highest note at 1:09 and actually he does? Did he change his singing technique? Seeing him clearly out of tune here in 2004 than now more than 15 years later.
Brandon couldn't really sing at the start of The Killers, someone who knows how to sing can tell that just looking at him. His neck and shoulders are stiff and you can tell how red and swollen he is because he can't really control his breathing. If anything, Brandon is proof that singing is something you are born with is just a myth. Not only did he learn it, he did it well into his 20's.
Yeah he wasn’t supposed to be the singer of the band originally and was just supposed to play keys. But he became the singer and he even said they used a lot of auto tune on hot fuss but he ended up becoming a great singer and used no auto tune on their next album.
My then housemate was at Glasto that year but he missed this performance - including the bit at 3:00 where the Killers go from being a band you'd like if you like The Strokes to being Britain's favourite band since Oasis - because he wanted to see Starsailor instead.
Loved Starsailor, but they seem so inconsequential to The Killers now. The Killers might be the best stadium band in the world right now. Brandon has never given a bad performance. It's insane how much better he's getting as a performer.
Ask him if he remembers who was on after them? I thought I went to see the Walkmen and there was this amazing band on before them. Had no idea who they were. But when I looked for schedule they weren't even on same day. Mandela Effect in full errr effect
Fun Fact about Mr. Brightside: Despite its upbeat feel, the song deals with issues of infidelity, paranoia, and jealousy. This is due to Brandon Flowers' heartache when his ex-girlfriend cheated on him while they were together.
I really loved this song and their debut album as I hit 18… the memories! Went off the killers after their second album. I thought they were indie and cool but soon realised they were just pop trash just like the rest of them lol. Learned my lesson there
now go watch their performance of the same song at the same festival 15 years later. unreal man.
This show is why they wanted to play on that stage for the secret gig in 2017. It's the same stage at the festival, albeit it's bigger these days!
And with arguably one of the best modern British guitarist and their idol, Mr. Johnny Marr.
unreal
Shame it wasn’t with Dave or Mark, you can’t beat the originals
@@mrangryeyes4789 ya I noticed the blonde and curly haired guitarists weren’t there in like 2022. Did they leave the band? ),:
the most British song by non British band

Simultaneously filled with joy that I was there, and utterly disturbed that it was 16 years ago.

This song shaped my life in so many ways, I was 10 when this show happened. That’s nuts and awesome you were there. What a historic moment.

You’ve literally no idea you all do it and despised for it
From the first chorus, You can see by the look in his eyes and the expression on his face that he realised what he and the band had.

Love this song but it’s clear how much Brandon’s singing has improved over the years
Thanks Adam Sandler!
Ben Townsend thanks Ben Stiller !
I just watched this after watching the 2019 Glasto performance. Honestly worlds apart, it's amazing to see how much he's improved
He sounds almost like Morrissey here
@@ludrixte1938 yeah, he sounds like johnny marr doing morrissey here
IT'S THE NATIONAL ANTHEM
Too right
for the cucks
One day i'll reconcile that The Killers are American to the fact that they made this song
Seeing this now makes me wonder if back then they could ever imagine playing this at the main stage with Johnny Marr on guitar. What a ride it has been.
they played it on the main stage a year after, in 2005
perhaps the best song of all time.
Love this, but vocally Brandon sounds even better these days.
Also he looks better these days
he's sober and a vegan that's why

JUST SOUNDS LIKE IT!!
Coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta, gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss
It was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke
And she's taking a drag
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now
Let me go
And I just can't look
It's killing me
They're taking control
Jealousy
Turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
'Cause I'm Mr. Brightside
I'm coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta, gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
