Sad but true, had this equipment for past ten years and had no idea what it did. Just never took the time to find out what it did and it collected dust. It will go back to work on Monday.
I want to praise Festool customer service. My 4 mm cutter failed after 20 cuts. I called Festool on Monday and a replacement arrived in NJ today! I don’t think that they could have handled this any better.
That's interesting. I am not sure about the cordless tracksaw though. I always wondered what's the purpose of buying a cordless track-saw and connecting a vacuum pipe to it. Just get the corded version and run the power line through the vacuum, thereby eliminating the need to pair your bluetooth batteries etc.
I know the word on the street is the older corded version seem to be under powered so a bunch of the IG influencers were pushing how good and more power the tsc seemed to have
There will probably be a cordless vacuum soon too, really eliminates the need for mains then. And if you're in the garden or something, the dust bag might be enough.
WTF??? That's confusing.... 1.) Does the secondary button on the extractor hose (time mark @6:50) sync up the primary button on the same strap, or does it sync up the battery??? 2.) @29:30, why did you recalibrate the left side when you already calibrated it first?
a question, at 28:06 do you have to calibrate these length stops when you change blades to, as some may have a different set, or kerf to them, so the distance from motor housing to the front tooth face is different.
The only problem I have run into is keeping them balanced when using a shorter track. Most of the time I add the extensions just for a counter balance.
When I try to slide my guides onto the track the two black straps on the track stick to the guides, then curl off at each end. How do I stop this from happening?
What happens when the board you are ripping is shorter than the table /surface you are working on and you can not overhand the guides at the end? especially when using the narrow rip attachment? Would this be a limitation and prevent you from using this setup? I seem to like this better than other products on the market that seem to be a bit flimsy and probably prone to losing calibration.
I have a track saw and initially started off with two shorter tracks joined together to rip plywood. I must say that one solid track is the only way to go!!!!!!!
Hi. Thanks for the onformative video. I recently purchased (on OfferUp) the Makita Track Saw system. My question: I'm looking into the TSO parallel guide system. They offer a 20" inch rail, a 30" rail, and a combo set of 30"/50" rail ($100 more than the 30" set). In my spare time, I enjoy building small furniture for family and friends (book cases, shelves, tables, etc. in my side-of-the-garage shop. In your opinion, which rail size would you recommend? Thanks again!
I just bought the set and used these to breakdown a 3/4 sheet to build a mobile compressor station with AZ drawers...They were flawless...Every measurement was square and perfect to dimension. I don't know about the TSO, but I know these work! Very happy.
at 22:02 one fact you did not say, is that this is way safer than a table saw, as YOUR hands are on the opposite side of the blade, one on the trigger, the other well clear, and the timber is clamped down to the table, so no possibility of accidents.
Great video. Taught me a lot of tricks about the guides I've got. But the question asking "How do you make the guides longer"... Could you please let us know how, if possible, to make THE PARALLEL GUIDES longer (which I bet was also the intended question).
My guess is the attachments allow you to cut off a standard piece of sheet goods 49-48” meaning if the parallel guides only alllow 40” max then the attachments allow you to cut up to 8-9” safely & accurately. Those numbers were just an example
I also thought the same the first time I watched these, however, stick with Sedge and you'll find that his energy is infectious and his breadth of knowledge is immense. He's a man with a long Woodworking history.

So useful as a reference video for recalibrating my parallel guides-thank you again.
Just ordered my set, hopefully arriving soon. Thanks Sedge for showing the calibration and setup
Please help! I lost the thumb screws for attaching my extensions and I cannot find replacement part numbers to order new parts. Can you please help?
Hi Sedge, a brilliant and informative video! Always look forward to Fridays!

You sold me! I was considering a 3rd party parallel guide. These look more robust.
The only problem I have run into is keeping them balanced when using a shorter track. Most of the time I add the extensions just for a counter balance.
I bought a 3d printed lug to go on each guide to stop it tipping works well.
Why a flathead large screw drive adjustment. Why not keep it conservative and consistent by using the 5mm hex?
‘ Big Slotted Screw ‘ reference of the flat head screw driver parallel guide adjustment .
When I try to slide my guides onto the track the two black straps on the track stick to the guides, then curl off at each end. How do I stop this from happening?
I noticed that you did not tighten the two screws at each end to firmly lock each guide to the track as shown in the written instructions.
one tip, at 16:27 in the V groove, add some white paint (sharpie marker) so this forms an arrow to define this as the refference mark.

So, how do you make the actual parallel guides longer? Not the track.
I was thinking the same thing🤔, great video though👌🏻
Do these come with a systainer if I buy the set? If not is there one available?
I'm going to watch this again every August. That way it'll be like Sedge sent me birthday wishes too!
What size rail you using. I have been putting 2 of the 55 to gathers
Do Festool manufacture an Engineers Vernier(Scale) Gauge?
Festool could make one best suited for setting up. UK

Great to hear!
Can you use a quick clamp with the parallel guides ??
Ya or the trigger clamp as well.
at 22:02 one fact you did not say, is that this is way safer than a table saw, as YOUR hands are on the opposite side of the blade, one on the trigger, the other well clear, and the timber is clamped down to the table, so no possibility of accidents.
This vid along with the MFT table just made my day WOW thanks Guys
Do these guides work on Mafell tracks?
Sedge you really should not grip the timber behind the saw one pinch and that saw goes backwards. Trust me I lost a finger doing it.
I have owned these for years and couldn’t get them calibrated, now I can set them up properly. Thank you so much.
Great to hear!
Hey Sedge just recently purchased the FS 5000 will these work just as well with the supah long track

But I would still see a need for making them longer as sometimes you work with a 5’ sheet goods
Really like your videos! I would like to see an episode on the SYMMETRIC SYM 70 RE. Greets from the Netherlands!
Hi from Newquay, Cornwall. 😊👍
Where can I get a Festool face mask?
Thanks
Hi from Groton Vermont

Why the hell would “ everybody be wearing a mask at home?” Lemmings or what?
Americans manage to make our European tools being advertised as topshop pans . Unbelievable ....
tso its mats better TSO
Very annoying presentation.
I also thought the same the first time I watched these, however, stick with Sedge and you'll find that his energy is infectious and his breadth of knowledge is immense. He's a man with a long Woodworking history.
Why should anyone whearing that useless mask?
