- Mortal Kombat II (commonly abbreviated as MKII) is a competitive fighting game originally produced by Midway Games for the arcades in 1993. It was later ported to multiple home systems, including the PC, Amiga, Game Boy, Sega Game Gear, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and various PlayStation consoles.
Mortal Kombat II was the second game in the Mortal Kombat series, improving the gameplay and expanding the mythos of the original Mortal Kombat, notably introducing more varied Fatality finishing moves and several iconic characters, such as Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena and the series' recurring villain Shao Kahn. The game's plot continues from the first game, featuring the next Mortal Kombat tournament set in the otherdimensional realm of Outworld, with the Outworld and Earthrealm representatives fighting each other on their way to the evil emperor Shao Kahn.
The game was an unprecedented commercial success and was acclaimed by most critics, receiving many annual awards and having been featured in various top lists in the years and decades to come, but also perpetuating a major video game controversy due to the continuously over-the-top violent content of the series. Its legacy includes spawning a spin-off game Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks and having the greatest influence on the 2011 reboot game Mortal Kombat, as well as inspiring numerous video game clones.

My favorite game of all time. Also the first and only MK game I ever beat. This brings me back to the 6th Grade (school year '95-'96), 12th Birthday. I will always love this game.

WTF i had never heard of friendships until now, I didn't play the game much but yeah before I saw this video I was like "wtf is a friendship?" and then I saw it and I literally DIED laughing that shit is SO much better than a fatality

Much better game play spirit and music then snes but i will never forgive Sega for excluding the long screem sound effect on pit or acid fall
I think one more missing here.. is when shang tsung turns into raiden.. then make friendship. The small raiden replica will become rusty like that..

Someone didn't know how to do Raiden's fatalities right cause the first fatality of Raiden was Ultra upper cut hits you and then exploded and the second one was where he shocked you until you exploded

To bad it’s so hard to do
As a kid i had no clue how to do any fatalities. No internet. No guide book. I just smashed buttons until i got something lol. The only fatality i ever did was Liu Kangs dragon one and a couple of stage fatalities like the uppercut into acid, ceiling spikes and off the bridge.
6:29 - Sometimes they stayed stuck to the spikes and sometimes they fell off.

Fun fact, did you know apparently the Friendship was included in Mortal Kombat II after people apparently complained that the fatalities in the original Mortal Kombat was too 'gruesome'? Haha, all this time that never occured to me.

I had this for my Mega Drive back in 1995 or something. Later I saw the SNES-version. And I like my SEGA-version more.
........why though? The snes version had overall better color, gameplay, and graphics, and the blood squirts were almost arcade perfect. Overall it was much closer to the arcade than the genesis version. Genesis had choppy frames all over the place. The only thing I gave the genesis was the outline of the characters were slightly sharper on some characters.

I know the Genesis had an on screen 61 color limit, but this game looks like it's using a lot less than that.

Friendship. Friendship? Bad Sega Mega Drive version doesn`t have Shao Kanh narrator voice (exept: Fight! and Finish Him/Her), but Sega 32x version fix all limitations

UMK3 is my ULTIMATE favorite. However, MK2 had/has the best fatality music. Although UMK3's version is similar, MK2 sounds a lot better.
