These guys are criminally undersubbed!! Love this show!!!!
I concur good sir.
Agreed
I always thought so too. This channel is so cool.
One of my top 5 favorite channels!
@@PacifistNihilist also one of my top five, always nice and interesting!
Both versions are winners. It really comes down to preference. Both are fantastic ports that push their respective systems to their limits!!!
Awesome skits, too. I want a Sub-Zero made Hawaiian Ice!!!
UMK3 on Genesis is one of the best looking games for the Genesis overall - but UMK3 on SNES is nothing special for the SNES, there exist so many much better looking games in diverse genres.
You spelled Snes is the better game wrong lol
@@greensun1334I’ve played a lot of Genesis games. It definitely is not the best looking game on the system. I’m actually kind of disappointed how many cuts they made.
@@opaljk4835 those cuts were made because of the huge roster. Yes, it could've done better, on both consoles. Especially since they're big 32meg (MK2: 24meg) cartridges! SNES UMK3 has even more/different cuts, like the missing stages, but the normal MK3 (32meg as well) is pretty accurate on both systems.
@@greensun1334 I believe the Genesis version it's 40mb against 32mb on Snes, that's why they have 4 more stages. Unfortunately, it's a poor trade off, since graphics and sound is worse on Genesis version.
"Who likes Nightwolf?"
Man, I love him. He is such a badass.
The guys over here dissing the Matoka gonna feel the power of the Great Spirit.
He’s evil
TBH: Its amazing that the Genesis was even capable to go toe to toe with the SNES, especially this late in it's lifespan.
As the Genesis was so late in it's lifespan by the time of MK3 and UMK3 the developers were very familiar with the console's hardware, they knew all the clever tricks that allowed them to squeeze as much out of the console as possible. They knew techniques that enabled them to push the console to it's absolute limits, like getting the console to display a much richer colour pallet than what was previously thought possible and managing to include much more sound effects and digitised speech in the game. The animation of the sprites included many frames so was smooth as well.
@@clarenceboddicker6679 it still looks awful,🤣🤣🤣
@@sliltury2418 lol true
In my opinion the two especially the 1st one was kinda half assed on genesis which was the norm for Probe. Midway doing much better job.

I know this video is old, but my god wasnt this entertainting, from the comparisons to the ending fight! Great job guys
There is also an updated version of Mortal Kombat 3 called Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which was never in the arcades. MKT is on the Saturn, PS1, N64, MS-DOS, Tiger R-Zone, Tiger Game Com and Microsoft Windows.
@John Nada It's based on MK3 though as all characters can run and perform combination attacks and the game plays much like MK3/UMK3.
@John Nada MKT is not a trilogy. It is an updated version of MK3. Look it up on Wikipedia. The "Trilogy" in the name is misleading.
R-Zone Master Race.
Yep MKT is a stand-alone update to UMK3. Only reason it's called a trilogy is because it brings back characters and stages from the first 2 games. If it was a trilogy then MK 1 and 2 would be playable as well and the gameplay wouldnt be that of UMK3.
There's also MK 1 and MK 2 versions of Raiden, MK 1 and MK 3 Kano's, and MK 2 versions of Jax and Kung Lao.
You forgot to mention Sega’s 6-button gamepad. It’s much more comfortable to play this game.
That doesn't even matter. The only extra button is the block button which is fine with shoulder buttons. This is a four button game.
Humorous LOL, even Arcade stand has 6 button. Look at it.
@@HumorousLOL and the run button
@@HumorousLOL wow, you've never player MK3 right?
Humorous LOL nah man. 6 button.
FACT: The Sega Genesis version of Rain was the one that made it to the N64 version of MK Trilogy whereas the Super NES version made it to the disc versions of MK Trilogy. Also on the Sega Genesis version of UMK3, once you beat Shao Kahn on any tower you go straight to Kahn's treasures, in the Super NES version it doesn't do that and show the character's ending instead. The only way you get to choose Kahn's treasures in the SNES version is by playing the 8-man Tournament Mode.
Was thinking if you could upgrade your video feeds coming from analogue’s consoles (super nt and md)
They should be displayed the way most would have it back in the day
They would, but they're not getting free consoles left and right like all the RUclipsrs who review those consoles. So, original hardware it is.
John Nada
They not super expensive, not like the Mini Nt. Honestly, the analogue Consoles are not dramatically improved by any means, they are essentially reference quality.
Calling sub zero Uncle tony is still the best part of the episode.
Woah! Console Wars? I haven’t seen these videos in years! RUclips recommended is bringing me some major nostalgia. Glad to see you guys are still active.
Both had to leave out a lot for Ultimate MK3 because of memory limitations. Frankly, I don't think they should have bothered with either.
Heck, the only reason Ultimate MK3 even existed was to mollify arcade owners who knew that the short turnaround between the arcade release of MK3 (in April 1995) and the release of the home versions (in October 1995, only six months later) would cause earnings from the arcade machine to drop. Most of the additions were lame pallet swapped characters and not really needed anyway. In some ways I think that's when the early series jumped the shark.
So, with that said, neither of these are worth it. Stick with the regular MK3 if playing on the SNES or Genesis.

Flawless ending!!! UMK3 for SEGA GENESIS was my favourite game ever! Great video!!! 💪👏
Hey Pat, you actually did a pretty good impression of Shao-Khan!
By 96’ The Genesis was showing its age, which is why we had Sega CD and 32X, Before it was close now, it’s a huge gap between SNES and Genesis by 1996
Also on SNES, the voices are really muffled to my ears. Yeah, MegaDrive is scratchy, but more easily-understood.
Omg Metropark! Hahaha. Welcome Pat! You’re doing an awesome job, great to see you and Dan continue the channel
If y'all haven't noticed, on the Super Nintendo version, you can't jump back, up, or jump forward easily like the Genesis version, you virtually have to hold those directions down to get it to work, which is why I can't stand that version. As a matter of fact, every Mortal Kombat on the SNES does that garbage, and it makes jumping trashy.
Shame the music and sound effects weren't compared.
How about making a video about Sega Genesis Battletech vs Super Nintendo MechWarrior 3050?
The reason rain looks better on the Genesis It's because it's more like the arcade😊
There's an arcade-perfect version in the 'Premium Edition' of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, for the PS2.
@bee boo It's only on PS2 if memory serves correctly. The Premium Edition of Armageddon was never released on Wii or the Xbox. Deception got a Premium Edition for the Xbox which came with Mortal Kombat, and both versions of Shaolin Monks came with Mortal Kombat II.
I agree the Genesis ver is slightly better... But here's a couple interesting differences: Human Smoke is missing his arcade moveset on Genesis, he's just a copy-paste of Scorpion. Also Scorp doesn't yell GET OVER HERE on the Genesis.
You guys missed the "infinite kano" cheat code for the Sega Génesis. Great video. So lovely memories.
Wow, Sega made a "Komeback" with this "Mortal Kombat" game.
Also, MK3's "Sub-Zero" is kind of a jerk. Those poor dogs. 🧊🐕🧊🤣
Console Wars, Volume 2 - Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Nintendo 64 vs. Sega Saturn vs. Sony PlayStation
You should do one on the 32 bit UMK3 (Saturn) vs 16 bit UMK3 (snes & genesis)
The shadow of Cyrax counts, but the Parallax of the stage does not? Interesting ...
Great video dudesss!
you can add missing things on sega genesis version with rom hack including new levels. ı notice in mega drive sega version there is no street river level.
One of the Scorpion's fatality are diferent between Snes and Genesis. From Snes only apear multiple Scorpions and end black. From Genesis Scorpion transport the oponent in Scorpion's lair and the opponent is burned and exploded.
How about u do a spiderman one the one based on the animated series
Weird call, guys. I've never heard anyone call the Sega sound "better".
It was a weird episode to be honest. If anything, it should have been tied. Snes won Two, and Sega won Two. I have no idea how Sega ended up winning. Nothing against the Sega version though
@@Keyblademster I've always been a little confused about these situations, because when I was a teenager and playing these games I had SNES and Genesis, like most everybody, and I ALWAYS preferred SNES versions. SNES graphics, SNES sound, it was always better imo.
That’s it, are we doing this?!?!?
How about Mortal Kombat Trilogy Sega Saturn versus N64
How about the jungle book for the snes and sega genenis
UMK3 on SNES was my first MK game
Please do Mortal Kombat Trilogy (Nintendo 64 Vs. Sega Saturn)!
I still don't know why they didn't put Johnny Cage in UMK3.

Do you have a Mortal Kombat 3
sure snes version had better graphics and sound but i never thought it was not that complete

Still like the episode.))))
*Gasp* the Next Episode is Bart’s Nightmare SNES VS. SEGA GENESIS
sega almost always loses.
and there is a subway and soul stage on snes. how did you mess that up?
Great episode! But being able to go to the bathroom without losing your game is a win for Nintendo in my book...!!!
Sega also has chameleon via cheat code and game genie
Alone in the dark: a new nightmare (one of the best aitd games to me and it has many versions, all fairly different). But i'm not sure if there was one on the saturn and nintendo (not sure).
You forgot to judge how good the songs sound. Remember, quality sometimes takes over quantity. The few audio comparisons you did showed far superior SNES music, but I don’t know without a proper comparison if the quality boost is worth the extra songs.
Yeah the SNES should've got the sound. Music is much better on the SNES.
16:35 noob what? as Shao Khan says DONT MAKE ME LAUGH :D
The ending was a masterpiece
Do Fatal Fury 2 next, it’s close but better on Sega I think.
The 8 player Tournament is the best mode. All the things that Sega has arent needed at all. Stages dont do anything at all

Good to know.
New, Console Wars - Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Nintendo 64 vs. Sega Saturn
PlayStation
@Anthony Cook they're talking about between the N64 and Sega Saturn
Saturn's version was pretty solid, and pad was definitely definitely better with the dpad being 8 way and all buttons being face buttons.
Saturn definitely wins that, even if the Playstation version is likely better than both. The Playstation and Saturn versions both basically had the presentation of UMK3 arcade, which the N64 just couldn't match.
@@THENAMEISQUICKMAN yeah but the n64 version is still good in its own weird way
Shao Kahn called, he said he still wants his payment for that sound clip
You didn't mention that jade neutral stand is different, in sega it's like mileena and on super nintendo it's like kitana
A few things you guys were missing. The voice grunts in the Genesis version sound more like the arcade. The music is also closer to the arcade. The SNES version has more Shao Kahn taunts (when you fight him) and has Human Smoke's pop up combo that is missing from the Genesis version.
And the 2nd fatality of Scorpion are diferent like in Genesis he transport the opponent in his Lair and the opponent end burned and explode (in the snes just apear multiple Scorpion and end black, lame).
they also forgot to mention that the sega genesis version has a second cool glitch exclusive, Glitchality.
in both versions Animalities were removed, but, in genesis version someone accidentally left in Kabal's Animality's input command. If you try and perform an Animality with Kabal, he loses his head and some very strange things can happen.
is extremely fun to do because crazy things happen, and it rarely breaks the game.
Pffff
@@sergiomendoza251 both ports have the same fatality where the opponed burns in the hellish background (it's called hades I think). The multiple Scorpion fatality with the black screen is the arcade original fatality, the 16bit consoles just can't handle so many Scorpion sprites, so it was changed to a simple burning enemy.

21:55 "Pong is exclusive to the seeeeega Genesis" These are the last words that I would hear from someone talking about the system with blast processing.

Finally (U)MK3 episode!
But i have to point out a few things
Yea, SNES have might more colorful graphics and more details on some stages, but SEGA is Higher resolution + the character sprites are higher def too and do contain more frames than the SNES.
The 8 player tournament mode cheat was present on vanilla MK3 SEGA port as well and i'm pretty sure i saw this cheat on UMK3 SEGA, but i am not quite sure
The gameplay is butter smooth on SEGA as well, unlike the SNES wich has input lag (it's not really bad, but you do notice it)
A track wich is missing entirely from the SEGA ports but avalible on the SNES version of (U)MK3 is the Shao Kahn's defeat theme (wich is the main menu theme of MK3 on PS1 and PC, but it exists on the arcade as well)
And for the voice sample, the SNES has voice samples wich are lacking from the SEGA version - Liu Kang has more voice samples on SNES, the cyborg robots as well, and when you defeat Shao Kahn, you hear him screaming just like in the arcade, unlike SEGA wich reuses one of his soundbytes.
Anyway, great episode!
Or you know , you can just play UMKT Hack
SNES is still better as Sega Genesis has ruined it's looks in presentations with the FINISH HIM and sound effects that you get from the SNES version
I was always disappointed with each Mortal Kombat game on Sega Genesis which they didn't bother getting the best color graphics after the first Mortal Kombat game
I thought that Sega had more time to get everything done right for
Mortal Kombat 2 and UMK3 for Sega Genesis
But they failed to deliver a more impressive performance than the SNES to get better color graphics and better look to the games
@@bazzerker35s the game was ported by the same developer (Sculptured Software) and they did pretty good job for both but SEGA is much closer to the arcade.

If Sega had better color graphics and presentation to everything that Super Nintendo had then Sega
Then it would of been better but to be honest I never liked any of the Mortal Kombat games on Sega Genesis as they looked so different compared to the Super Nintendo

@@bazzerker35s If you don't know anything about the Genesis then your opinion is shit. Plain and simple.,
Great video! The only thing I'd add just for the heck of it is that the SNES version is missing some animation frames. For example in Cyrax's self-destruction fatality there are less frames of movement than in the Genesis version.
Also the Genesis version wins because they modded it into Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy and that game is amazing
I'm sure there's small things I missed. I didn't know the trilogy thing. That's cool.
I checked a ton of website. Not one mentioned the trilogy thing. @Captain Kirk
@Captain Kirk Actually they do A LOT of research before EVERY episode, I can vouch for that personally. This was more of a side note that I notice. In fact there are MANY things I didn't know about both versions myself. For example, I didn't know about Shang Tsung's transformations in the Genesis versions or how Smoke and Noob have Brutalities and Babalities in the SNES version. This is not information that is easy to come by and the fact this was in the video was an eye opener. Things fall through the cracks all the time, instead of complaining what there isn't in the video, appreciate what we did get.
@Captain Kirk glad to see the art of conversation is still alive.
Captain Kirk Wow. Talk about "polite"... The very fact you even like your own comments soildifies the fact your support on those comments are completely artificial and that no one actually likes what you're saying.
Also, emojis. Need I say more?
The best sound does NOT go to Genesis. Eww.
Sega sounds like crap music wise.
OPINIONS!!!
That's all a matter of a opinion. Personally I enjoyed the Genesis grittier sound than the too clean sound of the SNES.
Snes sounds like plastic bucket, and so much missing SFX.
MD sounds more closer to Arcade, despite less quality.
The actor playing Sub-Zero, whoever they are, will in future episodes be billed as "Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated" I have a feeling. A powerful performance.
If you look really closely you can see its Pat, his powerful performance even obscured his identity from you.
Maybe he doesn't
Just make sure not to make fun of him, or he’ll teach you a lesson and freeze your dog
Three episodes in and Pat already shows his chest! XD
The boy can't help himself. lol
To me in all fighting games the Sega Genesis is much better because it has the six button controller and I know you have to buy it. Doesn't come with the console but I rather have the option to buy something better then to be stuck with a controller that is extremely basic and it has an uncomfortable d-pad. Also the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat is faster and that makes it very intense
That ending! ROFLMAO

Even I knew it was a tough call for which version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was better. Both versions have their ups and downs.
It was tough. The winner changed a couple of times. First Sega won, the SNES, then Sega again. Tough indeed.
Sega wins!
Mk11 is about to drop. I can't wait
MK11 looks like its been dropped... out of someone's ass.

I've never seen one single person with both 6 button pads for Genesis back in the day. It was horrible to go to a friends house and play with the 3 button pad as a second player everytime. Only because of that I have always hated to play fighting games on Genesis.
elbitxo That is so weird, my mum had the exact same issue. And also only owned one 6 button controller.
Oh well! I got two in late 1993. I feel your pain :)
Mega Drive should have come with them as standard from 1993 onwards.
The fact that you didn't seen anybody with the 6 button pad doesn't mean anything. I remember playing as a little kid with the 6 button, which was pretty common when mk3 came out
Except the D pad for the snes sucked bad for fighters.
They did come standard from 1993 onwards.
