Most if not all the scenes cut from rocky 8 were of him, His direct sequel to 6 is cancelled as also is the prequel to 1. Irwin won’t let them happen then sly won’t go to the 9th movie
Listen, I like Rocky and I like creed but there would not be rocky without creed in the first set of movies. So it’s only right if Rocky cannot continue to fight for her to be creed to continue after all, they made Rocky son out to be a wimp, so who else is going to be Rocky. Now head Rockies son been a bad MFR did Rocky could continue could’ve continued to produce rocky films and maybe even fight creeds son what that’s not how Rocky story went Rocky made his son out to be a wimp and there was-creed Junior? What else do you do? Let the franchise die or build it up and continue.
I don't see why he needed to say this ahead of the movie's release. He will absolutely put doubt in the minds of large portions of the audience rather than give the new kid on the block a chance to chart his own course. Comes off as deceitful, childish and facetious.
I see your side, and I see his side. There are arguments on both and we can't fail to see that. As far as what was offered to him as far as his character? Well not sure if we'll ever find out, however if they never actually reached out to put out some sort of plan out as far as the character Rocky, then that's also wrong. That being said... Stallone's actions were definitely childish and secretly I think most wanted to see a proper cast off from Stallone to Jordan. I will say that I will be seeing this opening night regardless however because Michael plays the role well and the addition of Jonathon is fantastic.
He isn’t just some new kid off the block, if anything your comment makes it seem like he still needs to prove himself when he does not. Makes you seem like a dick.
I’ll never get people who let other people dictate what they should and shouldn’t go see, in a perfect world everyone would see it to judge for themselves but yes regretfully not everyone does
The idea for the original Creed spinoff was Ryan Cooglers idea NOT Stalones, which i didn't forget when Stalone got that nom he FORGOT to thank Coogler in his speech, its ironic cause Rockys character in this new universe served as someone who wanted Adonis to find HIS OWN legacy & let go of things in the past, even Rocky himself when he almost died, he got a bookstory ending.. but now he's mad that Michael is trying to write for a character which Stalone gets money for without coming up with him.. he's mad cause it's NOT ABOUT HIM anymore.. its not about Rocky.. which shows thats the only thing he cared about in this whole process, his ego.. the worst thing about all this is he KNOWS this type of story creates division for fans, he should've just kept his mouth shut & wish them the best
I thought Creed II (cowritten by Stallone) had a proper end for his character. After the match between Creed and Drago he says "This is your moment" and let's Adonis have his time. I thought that was a great way to slide the franchise into Adonis being the lead character. Plus Stallone was talking for a while about making another movie where he trains another young troubled person which just feels repetitive. It sucks that there is apparently bad blood between him and MBJ but I think it was time for the Rocky character to retire.
That’s not a good ending for Creed being in the spotlight then being challenge and how he deals with it especially someone from his past is the next step
As a lifelong die hard fan of the Rocky series, I have to say this: Before the first Creed came out, Stallone was saying that “this isn’t Rocky 7, but it’s Creed 1” emphasizing that it’s Adonis Creed’s story. Before Creed 2 came out, he posted a small video of him saying that was his final time playing Rocky and saying his goodbyes. Not to mention the beautiful send off scenes they gave Rocky in Creed 2, where he told Creed “it’s your time” as he sat back and let Adonis celebrate his victory, and then Rocky’s scene at the end. So I don’t get why he’s salty now that Creed 3 is now focusing more solely on Creed? At some point Adonis Creed has to step out on his own because he hasn’t won without Rocky in his corner yet. Let’s not forget that when Stallone was getting a ton of praise for his performance in Creed 1 (deservedly so), he never once thanked or acknowledged Ryan Coogler, who wrote and was the one to breathe life into the Creed films himself, so now he feels slighted? Feels off to me
I absolutely understand Sly. Without him, there would be no Rocky and Apollo Creed, hence no Adonis Creed. Rocky is his baby and surely, he cares about it a lot and his frustration is justified. However, Creed is a spin off and it just can't be about Rocky forever. The character went through all kinds of drama, pain, trials and tribulations. Sly gave Rocky the boxer his perfect dignified send off with the sixth movie. He agreed to be in the Creed movies to play Adonis' mentor and passed the torch onto him. He said it in a video once. Even if the Creed franchise will be a critical flop, it won't tarnish the legacy of Rocky.
Hit the nail on the head there Rob. Stallone really flubbed this one. That show of bitterness doesn't look good for Stallone. He should have supported Jordan despite what Winkler did to him. As a fan I'm sorry Stallone isn't in the movies all this politics just takes away from what the movie could have been
He was done with the current rocky timeline as the director of the 8th movie cut all scenes with him in it, so he wanted to do a direct sequel to 6 and and a prequel to 1. The producer won’t let him do it.
I think Stallone should just let this go. He's been involved in an amazing franchise and Rocky's send-off was good as well. Whatever happens after, he shouldn't care
@Rick that contract was from 1975. Back then producers were taking advantage of actors who had no names or money. If he never signed the contract nobody would have ever seen Rocky movies. Im not saying legally they must give it back to him but to say “Let it go” is stupid he has every right to be pissed off. Just like they in turn have every right to make movies without him.
@Rick although still done to a certain degree still today its much better now people have a much better understanding of what to look out for in these contracts
I don't get how Sly says he doesn't want the character/series heading in a dark direction. I mean what does he mean by dark if it's the whole coming outta prison thing I don't think it's that dark. I mean Rocky worked for a loan shark Paulie was an alcoholic & treated ppl like crap especially Adrian. Mick dies, Apollo dies, Russia vs USA, Mr T & the new villain seem pretty similar, Tommy Gunn beats up his dad because he beat up Tommy & his mom, him & his son had a falling out all of these are just as dark as a guy going to prison imo.
I think more importantly, I think it was when Winkler started to give control to his kids, is when Stallone lost it. It's like, Ok you made you money, you get your investment back, you were not the creative force behind any of the movies, you got lucky and screwed a kid that wanted an opportunity... now you are handing it down like a family heirloom, It's not like Stallone wants all the rights back, but the dude has been loyal this whole time, and now your kids have something they were never ever a part of, and just want to drain the IP of everything it's worth.. I can see Stallone's frustration since Winkler's kids got control or involved
You know it's still the universe he co-created so he have the right to oppose some of the creative choices but you need to be civil about it and absolutely distance yourself from any shit talking that may occur. Mark Hamill had a lot to say about his disagreement with Ryan Johnson during Last Jedi and rightfully so, but he would never support hate comments and insults towards him, no matter who would do it.
Funny, I swore the movie was called Creed not Creed and Rocky or Rocky featuring Creed. From the first Creed Movie Rocky was dying and was at Peace with it. At some point Creed had to stand alone and separate from the source character. They should have handled this behind the scenes better. I also love Stallone but this character development was inevitable from the start. It's the 3rd movie it's time.
I hate when the old guards do this, in all areas of life. Stallone of all people how tf is this not going to hurt the film? Tf you want them do over the whole movie?. Retired politicians, older Athletes, older music listeners/producers its all hate hate hate just get lost man smh
Hehe! Kristian is definitely wrong. That's like saying, "I sold my car 40 years ago, and now that it is an antique worth a million, I want a part of the cut." I'll tell you what the Stallones' real beef is: With that new law of IPs reverting back to the creator, the Stallones cannot claim since it is a different character without Rocky and a different structure. They have no legal grounds. That's like playing chess and throwing a tantrum because they made a move you didn't anticipate. The popular thing now is manipulating your followers on social media to fight your battles. No matter who you are - that is a lousy thing to do.
Kristian's wrong - nobody took advantage of Stallone... he was offered a deal, and signed up on it. It's like saying Ye got taken advantage of by Adidas... ridiculous. If you don't like the terms and conditions of a contract... then don't sign it. And see where that takes you...
It's CREED Sly, not ROCKY. You didn't even create this, Coogler did. Yes, it's a Spinoff of Rocky, but not one that YOU CREATED. Then, aren't YOU the Guy that gave us Rocky 4 and 5? Didn't those take Rocky to some "Dark Places"? Come on now. Everyone expected that Adonis would have to keep fighting Sons of Rocky and Apollo's Former Foes, and they went in a different (and better) direction. With Donnie's past, it makes perfect sense that He would have to deal with someone from that past, now that He's reached the very Top. It's the Natural Progression of the Series in my opinion.
Those movies were successful in large part because Rocky was in them. I don't think as many people will be interested in this film without him. Stallone is saying all this in spite of the fact he has his name on it and can make some money for it. It's refreshing to hear people being honest and not worrying about the optics. Robert's take is very weird. Especially as a creative himself. The Creed movies are not "their own thing". So far they have all been tied in to the Rocky franchise in massive ways and worked as direct sequels to that series. That said, I'm sure Stallones ego is just as big as Jordan's. Especially when he was that age.
In the article Stallone talks about how he was unwittingly swindled out of a piece of Rocky. Why should the children of the producers get a piece when Stallone's children can't?
listen. stallone got robbed and he knows at heart he won that. i understand why he cares about where the creed storyline goes, i mean this really is built on his shoulders like mbj even says in the trailer of the film, indicating that even tho sly isnt in the film this wouldn't be possible without him. however we are now at the third movie and going more into a personal journey down adonis' past life isn't a bad direction to take. i just really hope they dont feel the need to connect this guy to clubber lang somehow🤦♂
What’s bizarre is Stallone’s other iconic character is Rambo which was not his creation but rather adapted from a book and even that writer has said that the most recent film he would want his name off of because of the direction Stallone took.
This is so disappointing though. I love Stallone as an actor. Always have since the 1980's. It sounds like he's turning into, (to use the words of Apollo Creed.) a "chump." He needs to get over it. He even said after Creed II that he was done. He's really coming off bullheaded, egotistical and bitter. It's a shame. I plan on seeing Creed III. The trailer was awesome. Stallone and his brother need to shut the hell up and show some class.
I like where we left rocky at the end of creed 2, I thought his story is well told and had a great happy ending. He should have a small cameo because he created it but let’s see what and where Adonis creed goes. Sly doesn’t have to be involved… I don’t see the big deal here. He should always be welcomed and listened to as he is highly successful and knows how to make these movies.
Literally at the end of Creed 2, Rocky fists bumps Creed and says “it’s your time now” and now Stallone is mad that it’s Creeds time. These old heads have never heard of aging with grace.
@@carmelosmith8782 that doesn’t mean that the studio should act like a DICK!! This is Sly character and story…Without Sly and Rocky there were never be an Creed movie. Of course he is going to be pissed of. What kind of idiot are you if you can’t understand that?
While it's more than likely I'll watch creed 3 personally I think creed 2 was the perfect ending for the rocky/ creed franchise rocky went off to be with his son and grandson and Donnie made his peace with the ghosts of the Creed family past
I’m so confused.. At the end of Creed 2 Stallone said that he was done with the Creed movies .. He didn’t think Rockes story could go any further.. Soooo The Film still goes In to production.. and now it’s finished and Now Stallone is salty ? ! Come on .. I love the Rocky movies with ALL my heart but dam Stallone is being a Bitch right now ..
We didn't need a Creed and Creed II. Stallone got made fun of for a heartbreaking performance in Rocky Balboa, yet got praised for his glorified cameo in the Creed movies?
👉👉👉 I truly mean NO disrespect at all, look at the end of the day we all get old. It’s part of life, BUT WTF was the direction Sylvester Stallone wanted to take Creed 3 to. This is a LEGIT question? Rocky managing a boxing PROMOTION. Rocky has FOUGHT, managed, owner of a restaurant, retired, got married, fill in the blank. Maybe it’s time for a new direction, just a thought. Stallone is an ICON in action movies but we all have to adapt and Michael B. Jordan has a good opportunity to take the Rocky franchise to a new generation. 👈👈👈
No one cares about Adonis. He’s a generic character, that was raised in a rich home, leaching off Apollo’s wife and wealth. Gave up a good job to be a boxer to “prove himself” it’s just nonsense.
@@axelstone3131 Yeah & Rocky was a Fighter, Coach, Manager, Fighter again, Retired and owned a restaurant, what’s the next Rocky movie him fighting for social security??? Let’s give Michael B Jordan an opportunity to bring that franchise to a new generation JUST A THOUGHT 💭
I think he needs to realize it a “Creed” movie and not a Rocky movie. I love Stallone and Rocky movies… but he’s had his time. It’s the story about Creed family
Creed is a derivative of the Rocky series it should compliment the Rocky series otherwise its obtuse. Maybe thats what Stallone knows, this is gonna land flat to audiences, without hitting those classic beats. Beats he pretty much patented. (And he knows how to pull the audience heart strings with this franchise, i.e. 4/5 great Rocky films) To not invite his input in some areas for these characters is a mistake, a biiiig mistake. He did it with Rambo, Rocky even the Expendables. Sly knows action heroes. He is old fashioned but this whole series is a throw back to his archetypes of heroes. This generation does not know this. I am Team Sly on this one
@@malachithegreat3889 correct if creed does not respect the franchise then it's another boring boxing movie, just using the rocky connection for money. The problem I have is mbj has zero similarity with the Ali type persona of creed.
I think people aren’t used to honesty and confuse it with being “grumpy” because we are so used to people promoting and selling a film, praising it blindly like it’s the next greatest thing ever until the next thing.
Stallone should be given a percentage of Rocky. Its like Stan Lee and the Marvel characters. (That wasn't fair and honestly I don't know how that ended up besides hearing some court battles years ago) The creator should be entitled to some percentage and some input. But I don't agree in bad mouthing a project or an actor or director. One reason I dislike comments sections most of the times. There are ways to do this respectfully and professionally. Still I'm a big Stallone fan
Never been a fan of this storyline to be honest. Stallone said once couple months ago in an article that he wanted to go with another storyline where Rocky is going to mentor a poor Mexican kid. I think this aligns with the Rocky spirit. I think this idea is a way better storyline and for Stallone to tap out. But Jordan was a producer in the first one so they didn't have any choice but to go with Creed spin off.
Once again people are missing the mark and appear to be easily missled. Creed is not called Rocky and its not called rocky for a really good reason, because its not about rocky lol. So no stallone needs to learn to get over one of his characters thats not him getting his own franchise that wants to go in its own direction. How is this point missed. Its not rocky and yes im a huge rocky fan, prob seen 4, 100 times but its clear its not a film about rocky so...humans what are we talking about?
Actually im pretty good at art and I've been called an artist most of my like lol so with that being said, yes i do agree that MJ after owning the rights could do what he wanted with their music. No one told made Stallone do this unless they did then i take it all back
I've been a Rocky fan since the 70's and it is one of my franchises. I love how the franchise was extended into Creed and Creed 2. However, Rocky's story ended perfectly at the end of Creed 2. I'm looking forward to Creed 3 depending on how they explain the absence of Rocky. The premise looks good.
Rocky Balboa to me was that guy who made me work harder in the gym. He made me work harder in life even though he wasn’t real. I wasn’t really hyped by the trailer and hearing Sly is not only not in the movie but isn’t happy with the movie makes me not really wanna go out of my way to see it. Maybe I’ll rent it or watch it on TNT when it’s on.
Lol. You create one of the most successful franchises of all time, then have it taken away from you. Then tell me how you would feel. You have absolutely no perspective on this.
I think it’ll scare some people off. It’s worrying because Rocky is his baby and I get being angry if you think you were screwed over. Watching the first trailer it felt wrong not seeing Sly in it.
I don't understand why John is saying it's not big blockbuster films sir the first Creed was on a Budget of 35-40 million and the film made 173 million almost 200 million. What do you mean ? That is a huge success did it make Avengers money no but that's a huge win. Second Creed was a budget of 50 million and made 214 million off a budget of 50 million and you don't think that is a huge success but when you talk about Blum house movies on there budget and the numbers they make I don't see criticism for that ? Are they making Avengers numbers ? No but those are still huge success so I don't understand when he say there not making that much.
Of course it will make an impact how could it not, the real question is how much, I can imagine that many big Sly fans will skip the opening and wait for the cretics and word of mouth before seeing it, so if the movies turns out to have bad reviews well forget the people who would normaly pay for all the movies with Sly in it whether they are good or not, all that remains to be seen.
I'm a Stallone fan. There's nothing wrong with him disagreeing with the way things are going. He's allowed his opinion. Do I think it will impact people going to see the movie? Not much. Everyone already knows he's not in it. People are going to see the continuation of Adonis' story. They're going to see MJB and J. Majors. I am happy to hear Sly's take, but I don't think it will have a major impact on the viewers. Creed was MJB movie. A Coogler movie. My wife and I are just excited about this one as we were about Creed I - maybe even moreso.
Stallone got paid to sell the Rocky franchise and he stated he wasnt coming back for Creed 3 right after Creed 2 came out, so whats his beef? Now he's made that he isnt in Creed 3? Talking from both sides of his mouth
Bit of bullshit he’s given us when he should be hyping up the new movie in his legendary franchise. Also it’s not very supportive of Michael B. Jordan who he’s meant to be passing the torch to. When Jordan is doing it so his franchise can live on. A bit of bullshit
Are you stupid? This was never about “passing the torch” he was forced to do creed. Didn’t want any part of it for years. I suggest you really learn about what’s going on behind the scenes before leaving such a dumb comment. Ryan coogler always saw Apollo as the hero. He wanted to make a black rocky series for the black community. Hence, he created Adonis, a son Apollo never had, that isn’t cannon. That wasn’t created by Stallone or was stallones idea. Be upset all you want. It’s pretty fucking obvious at this point what the creed series is really about.
I'm sure Coogler wrote a good film and hopefully, Michael B Jordan does a good job directing. However, I do think it isn't a good idea to have a Rocky spinoff without Rocky in it.
Stallone is starting to remind me of old basketball players that feel they have to criticize everything new gen basketball players are doing/saying. Grumpy is the word. Creed is about Creed, not about Rocky. Drop it and move on. It will be a success regardless whether salty Rocky fans see it or not.
This is probably a combo of a lot of things. Going off Stallone’s statements here, I think it’s plain and simple that “Creed 3” has a tone and direction that simply isn’t in line with what he usually wants for these types of movies, and that’s fair. But on the other hand, MJB did say they wanted to take the film and franchise in less familiar territory, which is also fair. It’s also worth noting that Stallone, as far back as the release of “Creed 2”, stated that he was done with Rocky as a character. So it’s like: which one is it? Seeing the trailer for “Creed 3”, I didn’t really miss Rocky. We’d obviously have to actually see the movie to give a final analysis, but given the storyline, what purpose would Rocky serve, other than the thankless role of trainer/confidant. With the first two movies, his presence is justified from a story perspective. For a story like this; something so intrinsically tied to a point in Adonis’ life that has nothing to do with Rocky, I totally understand Stallone seeing that there’s no role for him, and Coogler not writing one for him. Rocky has his happy ending in “Creed 2.” Nothing wrong with leaving it at that, and seeing where Adonis goes. As for Stallone, his statement on “Creed III” isn’t really all that bad. Compared to what he said about the Drago spin-off, he seems more content with this. But then again what do I know? Stallone flip-flops all the time when it comes to these things. It seems like he just wants these films/properties made on HIS terms, which is fair considering he created “Rocky”…… But the concept of “Creed” was something that was pitched TO HIM. There should also be a level respect with to those in the “Creed” side of things wanting to go in a different direction.
@Rob C Mate your analysis and overall view of this " situation " is by far the BEST comment I've read. You expounded perfectly on the dynamics behind Stallones view and the delicate balance between seeing both sides of the matter. While everyone else is preoccupied with taking sides ( or at least 90 percent of these comments. A few others make some good points as well) you present a pretty thoughtful and on point assessment especially when concerning the fact that the Creed project was presented to HIM. Again an excellent and well articulated comment that hits the nail in its proverbial head 👍
@@c.ostriker5572 Thanks man! I just... try to be civil in an area of the internet where it's simply not always the case haha. But yeah, I think it's important to see all sides, to check how we got to *this* point. It's probably a moot point, but why don't we... I dunno... *talk it out* ? Lol. Cheers, pal!
@@axelstone3131 "Dragged into Creed" is one way to put it, for sure. Because yeah, he was done after "Rocky Balboa". But given the idea and how it was pitched to him, Stallone wasn't gonna pass it up. And honestly, it paid off. For the first time, he didn't have to shoulder writing or direction, and he scored himself a Golden Globe award, and an Oscar Nomination. That wouldn't have happened had he just stayed content with "Rocky Balboa". It's been his MO. He's always said he's "done" with characters like Rambo & Rocky. He said "Rambo" was going to be the last film of that franchise. Then he flip-flopped over the course of a decade until he dropped "Rambo: Last Blood". He said he was done with "Rocky". But independent of the "Creed" movies, he said he had an idea for a new "Rocky" movie, so with Stallone it is a "never say never" situation.
@@thedefinitionisthis Thanks mate. I totally agree with you on that, which is why I responded to Your accurate comment. I don't respond to ignorant, snarky comments that are lacking in insight and/or have biases born out of bigotry, personal prejudices etc.... I refuse to acknowledge them. We are living in interesting but delicate times from a societal perspective and there are some angry people out there who flock to social media to vent their angst on platforms that are totally unrelated to their issues. Hence why especially on RUclips you have so much toxicity regardless of the topic. At any rate again I appreciate your insights and in particular the closing observation which is the most IMPORTANT one. Stallone was officially done with Rocky and stated as much after Creed 2. The Rocky Balboa story arc had completely run its course and the beloved character simply had nowhere else to explore. If anything Stallone SHOULD be grateful for Coogler being instrumental in him having one more fantastic go of it with the accolades he recieved from the Creed Movies( And let's face it, Apollo Creed was a FASCINATING compelling larger than life character) which he, im quite sure knew would be a possible hit given the storyline. And it certainly held up well. So his low key criticism at The direction things are going which Jordan and Coogler have creative control over, comes across a bit off putting at least to me before the Movie has an opportunity to have its debut. Appreciate your input and stay safe, enjoy the holiday season and good health for the incoming year 🙏👍
Totally with Kristian on this. Stallone IS Rocky and the franchise. He's earned a piece of the Rocky pie, and to pass it to his children like Winkler and Chartoff.
@@Mr10before9 And who created Creed, the character? Stallone. Is it so wrong for him to ask for a fair share? Contracts are contract, but all he’s asking is to do what’s right.
@@lrtvhighlights3687 We’re going down a rabbit hole here. I don’t mind creed without Stallone, but all I’m saying is he’s given them millions and millions of dollars, and wrote almost all the films. Is it so much for him to own a little piece of the pie?
You know Stallone has gone crazy when he shared that picture of Winkler's severed head and other super disturbing imagery on his Instagram. I get that the franchise means a lot to him but good grief
I think it's very weird the inconsistency in John and co's views on "Dave Chapelle deserves more money cause he got screwed" and "eh Stallone had a career afterwards, who cares"
Stalone bigger rights to the character & more power for where the character would go, Chappelle show never gave Dave that, he was mocked for standing up for himself & any deals the show got after Dave didn't see a penny
@@jayinri6658 Thats a decent point. One could argue that Chapelle's net worth skyrocketed after the show, just as Stallone's did after Rocky, though neither got compensated well for the original work. But yeah, I'm not sure what the deal was necessarily but Stallone clearly has certain rights to the character and world (though when he got them or how much I have no idea)
He has every right to feel how he feels…Rocky started cause of Sly. What’s the saying though? Out with the old, in with the new. People would rather see Creed (or Adonis Johnson’s) story. Idk the legalities but it’s not an IP Sylvester owns. They can do what they want with it.
Apollo Creed need his own movie to show how he rose up from the gutter to be the heavy champ of the word. I know Carl Weathers is a older man now but it still can be done in someway
I just find it odd that Stallone found it to be too dark. He's always been weird about that sort of thing. I remember reading about how he thought the original script for Staying Alive was too negative. Did he even see Saturday Night Fever??? But what's even stranger is he's had plenty of dark moments in films he's written like Apollo getting beaten to death in the ring, a woman getting waterboarded in the first expendables and I can't even count on both hands the amount of dark shit that happens in the Rambo movies or cobra. Don't get me wrong I have the utmost respect for Stallone as a person and as an artist. He can be a great actor and writer when he wants to be but his logic can be confusing
I believe just as people may be turned away, there will also be people who will be more intrigued to watch it for the same reason, in my opinion 😅🤷🏽♂️
Rocky is a memorable character, so is Apollo Creed, but Michael B Jordan's creed Jr character is not memorable. The first 2 creed films weren't bad but they also weren't great. Doesn't have the same heart as Stallone's Rocky.

Hi, personally i though it was " solid " but i prefere the first one, mainly because beating " the son of " was in my humble opinion too cliché ... it might also be the fact Rocky 4 has always been my least favourite, did not like that Usa vs Russia atmosphere, Russians are always depicted as the evil 😅🤪 i am glad creed 3 is going to be a departure from that idea, i think Jonathan Majors might even overshadows Michael B Jordan character in the movie. What would Sylvester Stallone do if he got the rights of the "Rocky" franchise back? He felt, hell he even KNEW that the 4th "Rambo" film wasn't the end of John Rambo's story

I dont see that. If this were Creed 1, that'd be one thing. But this is Creed 3. Nothing Stallone says matters anymore.
I’ll never get people who let other people dictate what they should and shouldn’t go see, in a perfect world everyone would see it to judge for themselves but yes regretfully not everyone does

Gotta agree with Rob. Sly needs to be more professional.
Don’t forget Stallone didn’t even want the movie to be made until Coogler made Fruitvale Station.

That’s not a good ending for Creed being in the spotlight then being challenge and how he deals with it especially someone from his past is the next step
creed 2 had a 50 million dollar budget and made 214 million. Its going to do just fine
Feels off to me
Have to agree with Rob; this seems really petty.
Sly got an award nomination for the first Creed and didn't even thank the director
As a fan I'm sorry Stallone isn't in the movies all this politics just takes away from what the movie could have been
Rocky didn’t need to be in Creed 3 after his ending in the last film. So idk what’s the problem here.
Ego, some people just dont think anyone should have their time, it should be all about them and what they did in the past
Didn't Stallone say he was retiring Rocky after Creed 2?!?! Saying he didn't want to play Rocky anymore or am I mistaken?
He was done with the current rocky timeline as the director of the 8th movie cut all scenes with him in it, so he wanted to do a direct sequel to 6 and and a prequel to 1. The producer won’t let him do it.
I think Stallone should just let this go.
He's been involved in an amazing franchise and Rocky's send-off was good as well. Whatever happens after, he shouldn't care
The problem is he wasn’t only “involved” he created all of it so you have to understand why he is bitter and pissed
"Involved"
He created it. He wrote or helped write seven out of eight movies, or something to that affect.
Creed II was the end of the Rocky connection and start of the Creed franchise.
I'm a rocky fan and I'm watching it
I don't get how Sly says he doesn't want the character/series heading in a dark direction. I mean what does he mean by dark if it's the whole coming outta prison thing I don't think it's that dark. I mean Rocky worked for a loan shark Paulie was an alcoholic & treated ppl like crap especially Adrian. Mick dies, Apollo dies, Russia vs USA, Mr T & the new villain seem pretty similar, Tommy Gunn beats up his dad because he beat up Tommy & his mom, him & his son had a falling out all of these are just as dark as a guy going to prison imo.
nice debate. I actually enjoyed the banter with everyone, in my opinion, making great points.
We all LOVE Rocky!!! But Creed IS a spin-off. It isn’t Rocky for better or worse Its CREED!
That's like saying, "I sold my car 40 years ago, and now that it is an antique worth a million, I want a part of the cut."
I'll tell you what the Stallones' real beef is: With that new law of IPs reverting back to the creator, the Stallones cannot claim since it is a different character without Rocky and a different structure.
You don’t have the details, nor do you know what has gone on behind the scenes. In fact, your opinion means fuck all.
Frank Stallone has more Golden Globe nominations than Micheal B Jordan.. Mic Drop!
People will go see this for Majors
Gotta take Rob's side

“Michael B. Jordan may win a few fights, but a Rocky Balboa he’ll never be.” 😎
Why would he want to copy Rocky when he’s trailblazing his own successful path?
You can wear the shoes but you'll never fill em
Once again people are missing the mark and appear to be easily missled. Creed is not called Rocky and its not called rocky for a really good reason, because its not about rocky lol. So no stallone needs to learn to get over one of his characters thats not him getting his own franchise that wants to go in its own direction. How is this point missed. Its not rocky and yes im a huge rocky fan, prob seen 4, 100 times but its clear its not a film about rocky so...humans what are we talking about?

Hearing him be nasty about it only makes me want to see it more. It’s so petty. I hope it’s a huge success.
Because John is a shrill
Thoroughly disagree with Christian on his take regarding Stallone.
I'd love to "get screwed" and then go on to make $400 million. Anyone else?
I agree with Rob. MBJ is directing this film. Way to support your protégé of the franchise!
Michael B Jordan is an Oscar nominated actor, nuff said
Not an Oscar nominated director tho
Doesnt mean anything if the script and directing suck. He has to prove himself so until he does it’s ok to be skeptical
I agree with John and Rob, as much as I understand Harloff, John and Rob and even Ray is more realistic. That is showbusiness. Business.
I feel Kristian got screwed over for a shitty deal he did, and is projecting on Stallone. Which is why he’s so irrational
Stallone is starting to remind me of old basketball players that feel they have to criticize everything new gen basketball players are doing/saying. Grumpy is the word. Creed is about Creed, not about Rocky. Drop it and move on. It will be a success regardless whether salty Rocky fans see it or not.
Remind me of Vince McMahon 😂
I've personally got no interest in Donny's childhood backstory coming back to haunt him. The heart/soul of the Creed movies is how Rocky drives it. 💯
But it's called Creed not Rocly, I loved that Rocky was a part of Creed 1 and 2 but I'm also happy the 3rd one is about Creed now.
@Rob C
Mate your analysis and overall view of this " situation " is by far the BEST comment I've read.

Creed is already a spin off so it needs to do it's own thing otherwise it would just be black rocky ... Stallone is just being Stallone that's all 🤣
You know Stallone has gone crazy when he shared that picture of Winkler's severed head and other super disturbing imagery on his Instagram. I get that the franchise means a lot to him but good grief
Can you blame him? Stallone made Rocky.
Rob on point as usual
In the audience question segment later, Kristian brings that up.
You guys forgot to mention Sly's first film that started it all. That porno he starred in called Italian stallion........
@@kingspawn2412 Clearly you didn't watch the video. I'm only responding to the statement that was made. Relax. Bub.
@@kingspawn2412 You're the one missing the point. So sad. 🤣
Rocky is a memorable character, so is Apollo Creed, but Michael B Jordan's creed Jr character is not memorable. The first 2 creed films weren't bad but they also weren't great. Doesn't have the same heart as Stallone's Rocky.
exactly
If I can change! than you can change ! We all can change!!!!!
This spinoff lost me when they made Apollo Creed an adulterer.
That is what i hated as well. They ruin Apollo's character to create a brand new one.
@@anubusx wrong
This dude is a ICON that being childish. This school play ground stuff. Stallone you're 76 years old now at like it. Also I think he should support the movie if you got money to be made.😎😁
Honestly it’s gonna be hard to beat creed 2 that movie was dope
Hi, personally i though it was " solid " but i prefere the first one, mainly because beating " the son of " was in my humble opinion too cliché ... it might also be the fact Rocky 4 has always been my least favourite, did not like that Usa vs Russia atmosphere, Russians are always depicted as the evil 😅🤪
i am glad creed 3 is going to be a departure from that idea, i think Jonathan Majors might even overshadows Michael B Jordan character in the movie.
Anyway, i hope we Rocky and Creed Fans will enjoy that movie !!! I am a real fan since i am a kid 😊
I'm sure if they paid him for using his creation he would have a different attitude toward it.
@@bdove2007 Come on. You know it's way more complicated than that.
Money is the motive. These are all new characters. But they should consult him but at the same time sounds like stallion wants his input and I means he wants to control it.
The thing is creed need to be his own person facing his problems and consequences and not having to face the past of rocky
"Why....cuz i just told u ray" lol
sly comes off as very childish here. like they said, "you gotta let the kid go to college and find himself." creed is for all intents and purposes is a new franchise at this point. he had his time as rocky.
The only thing I agree with Frank Stallone on is that his brother was robbed of an Oscar. Other than that, dude is wylin’.
I like Michael b Jordan but I do think he is overrated. He is a decent actor, not a great one. Mediocre I think is a fair assessment.
Off topic
@@billyobfas6962 off topic but I agree as well. He is the same in every movie, acting like an angry baby all the time. He couldn't even change his "what up bro" voice, when he played a lawyer in the movie with Jamie Foxx
He is not great, but he is too young to be a great actor also, usually guys get great in their 40’s
@@ymk_86Exactly my point I'm not hating jordan he just isn't as good as Denzel Washington or Viola Davis. Look at the Legendary roles they get. Chadwick also played lead roles abt leaders or heroic figures. Even set to play a Black Samurai before his death. Jordan keeps playing a handsome veteran who falls for a pretty girl. 😂😂😂
@@joshuaj.chinda9873 😆 for some reason he always finds a way to take off his shirt and make sexy faces all the time
What would Sylvester Stallone do if he got the rights of the "Rocky" franchise back?
He felt, hell he even KNEW that the 4th "Rambo" film wasn't the end of John Rambo's story
Isn’t Stallone a producer on the film? Even if this is a bad movie, a jab like that seems personal. I mean hell, this couldn’t be worse than any of the Expendables movies. And on top of that, dumping on MJB's debut as a director. Not cool.
