RIGHT ON !!!!!!! THANK YOU . Problem solvers focus on the clip that is held in by one bolt that Jim is showing us. There is two wires held, one large, one small . I found the break in the small wire right where it joins the clip. I cut off the wires at the end and joined them together then spliced on another wire and fastened it under the bolt to make a good ground. I went in the car to check the signal lights. I had a smile on my face a mile wide all lights worked as they should. Thank you TEACHER !!!
+stuzman52 Good question,When I could not get a ground in the fan connector I look at the wiring diagram to see where the fans grounded to .Truthfully the lights just happened to be on the same ground:) Jim

Very thorough diagnostics, and I am a Master Mechanic, but retired 2000. Thanks for the refresher class, I hope you got paid for diagnostic which consumed most of your time. Customer's don't understand. They are paying for your brain.

Here's my present problem.... 2005 Chevy Impala have an overheating problem my mechanic did a carbon Analyzer test on the head gaskets ..... said this is definitely my problem the numbers read at 1500. when normal should be in the 500 range. Anyway, he changed my thermostat, and hoses. and added a Blue Devil Gasket sealer, into the radiator. It seemed to work. flushed antifreeze, but told me this can be temporary. A "Band-aid" now i'm driving and always watching the temp gauge. It stays mostly half way or less..... Now its going over half way overheating range. My question is : can this be my coolant fans not working ? or bleed the system always . I have like 83,000. miles on it, second owner. I cannot afford a complete Head Gasket job..... is there another way ? frustrated and lost in Yonkers NY. Your video is very good wish Your shop was near Yonkers area. Response is appreciated.

Jim i just watched your video on chevy impala over heating. Funny thing is we are having the same issue with hazards lights keep coming on and overheating. I am going to check that G101 ground to see if it was bad. My question is in the passed when i change the fan assembly a year ago. If the car was moving the temp would go down just with wind coming thru the radiator and if stopped/idling the temp would go up. this time as we drove the car the temp kept going up. would you lean to thermostat or water pump. the other thing not sure if it matters is when we would hit a puddle something would start squealing. not sure if it was the tensioner or just the belt ( replaced 3yrs ago)

JIMTHECARGUY, )) I disconnected the Temperature sending unit/temp sense, so How can I test the instrumentation temp gauge in my cars dash board by itself to check if its working correctly, what do I need to do? 1.) How can I test the Pressure of the water pump and the pressure of the radiator while the car is idling and running? I want to know what the pressure is through the radiators hoses and water pump hoses, how can I do this? 2.) The Water Pump is "increasing" the radiators coolant into the car engine and into the radiator core to increase the flow of the coolant? 3.) How can you test if your radiators hoses and water pump hoses has to much pressure the pressure is to higher than normal operating pressure?
Hi Jim, my low beams are not working and I used a diagnosis tool to activate the relays and I have power but I do not hear the relay click for the low beams. I hear it click for the High beam and Daytime running lights low and high. Does the BCM activate the low beam ground? I've already replaced steering switch, headlight switch, hazard switch, relays, bulbs. I did clean this same ground mentioned in your video.

You will need to check power and ground at the fan to see if the fan motor is no good or if the is an other problem.Make sure the car is up to normal operation temperature and does not over heat when checking.Keep me posted

My impalas heater wasn’t blowing hot then I put a new thermostat in come to find out it didn’t have a thermostat to begin with then after that my car started over heating ?
If a fuse is Burt out for that fan the you will need to check the wiring for any cuts or shorts .If that is good then the fan should be check. it may be no good.
hey I have a 2003 chevrolet malibu with a 3.1 l engine and I just recently got the wiring fixed for my fans, got brand new fans, an oil change, new intake gaskets, so the fans work perfectly now but once I got to my house from driving 5 min from the shop I heard some bubbling, lifted my hood in saw all of my antifreeze just leak from the reservoir cap. what could be the possible problem? reply soon as possible..thank you
+jimthecarguy well at the shop after they had bleeded my cooling system for hours the temperature was a little before half from them having had the car idling for such time in when the gauge finally hit a little over the half both of the fans turned on & ran perfectly so yes the fans are good. the temperature gauge stayed normal until I was about a block away from home. in as far as the coolant cap I'm more than certain that it was on tightly and correctly. I had a guy tell me that the radiator was fine and the guys at the shop says the engine is good. but my uncle in-law says that its Bc my coolant cap is worn out or and it could either be that I need a new thermostat, and or a new water pump. what do you think it is?
I hear you. But the temperature went up regardless of the fan being on and that's when I got out the car to check what the bubbling sound was..in the antifreeze was just leaking out of the Reservoir tank.

Antonio, check the plastic elbows that run to and from the heater core into the motor. The elbow closest the water pump had a hairline crack in mine and it would not leak until it was really hot plus the water would evaporate on the hot motor which made it difficult to determine where the water was coming from.

Grand am 3.4l I have replaced EVERYTHING water pump, thermostat, radiator all was going good I was running water till I could resolve the issue. Took a 2hr. Trip. When tried to leave it overheated idk if the water had evaporated but now I’m trying to fill it again but need to know the proper way to bleed a closed system

Oh yes for sure .I usually tell people to start with there will be a 1 hour charge and we will see after that how much it will cost.

Great video. Always wondered if it is better to crimp instead of solider, when you have wires that are subjected to vibrations.

Solder can’t withstand vibration as well because the joint is so rigid and therefore brittle

As soon as you said the lights weren't working properly I thought it might be a bad ground.

quick question i find a broken fuse to the fan re-lay, could that be the reason why that one fan is not working?

If the pump is leaking water then you will need to change it.
