Hi Brian, I just found you on utube and I am so excited to follow your tutorials. I am an avid Bob Ross fan and love painting with oils. Will begin this one and follow each step with you and learn so much more on techniques. Love the way you are set up with the camera angles which captures every step from mixing the paint on the pallet to detailed brush strokes. So clear and easy to follow. Thank you for being a great teacher and so lucky to have found your channel. Keep up the great work, thank you. Alice👍

I’m a complete beginner, love this tutorial. Can I ask what type of paint is this? 🙏

Sure. These are Bob Ross oil paints and brushes. You can find them on my website at www.artpartyunlimited.com click the shop or supplies button in the drop down menu. Thank you for the comment!

Suppose instead of liquid white, I use a thinned layer of pthalo blue, and then go over that with ultramarine blue at the top?

Sure! What you are talking about is what we call a "wash." It is an excellent technique that we employ in our original works. It is a super effective way to get your sky color in. The benefit is, of course, is that you thinner will dry quickly, leaving you a drier paint film that is easier to paint over.
Would suggest adding a bit of white as you progress downward so that you gain proper atmoshepheric perspective.

@@artpartyunlimited that would be amazing. We miss having that option. Doresa and I really wanted to do the willow pic. There are so many cool ones to do!

If we can get our liveswitching up in time you might be able to do the willow. We should have our piece of equipment arriving this week and then it's learning time/practice time with the new system. We could still do the willow as a dedicated online video class using our old system like when you painted with us before. Hopefully we'll get an announcement out before January that we are ready to proceed. Keep your fingers crossed!
