    A few things I've noticed since watching your videos that have nothing to do with your farming practice but are worthy of mentioning ...
    * your hair ... that chestnut color looks FABULOUS on you; matches your boundless energy!!
    * you've grown very comfortable in front of the camera ... you wear your confidence well!!
    * your camera skills have vastly improved from the beginning ... you've found your groove!!
    * your authenticity shines through ... you radiate from the inside out a true & natural beauty!!
    * you ROCK ... your ability to own your mistakes and your successes is what makes you such an incredibly inspiring teacher!!

    • @SandiBrock
      @SandiBrock  5 лет назад +11

      Will you be my friend FOREVER??? Wow!!! thank you so much for this. Its funny... the list of things you mentioned are all the things I'm super insecure about...
      I've always hated my hair.
      I sometimes want to throw up editing my face and my voice.
      I always look bad, but in no way want to glamour up for the barn... so instead, thousands of people get to look at this nightmare.
      and... my failures always knock me down. and they can always feel like they outnumber the successes.
      So this journalling is a good venture for me to go back and see progress. I will never be perfect, but if I'm better than the day before, I'm happy.

    • @TheIntuitiveBodyFoodieNetwork
      @TheIntuitiveBodyFoodieNetwork 5 лет назад +11

      @@SandiBrock Of course I will be your forever friend lol! Heck, who wouldn't want you as a friend?! From everything I've seen & heard in your videos, there is so much about you that is worthy & valuable of love, loyalty, admiration & respect! I get that you are highly scrutinizing of yourself. It's a self-improving quality that drives you to be & do better and is what I believe many of your viewers value so much in you. You own your mistakes. You scrutinize & learn from them, and as a result you grow. And then you share all of that with us your viewers. That is what makes you such an amazing teacher of lamb farming!!
      As for all those beauty insecurities, I wish you could see yourself through my eyes. Maybe then you would see a different beauty staring back at you each day. Apart from being a natural beauty, your greatest beauty lies in your ability to be brutally honest about who you are without apology, especially with your insecurities. In a world where everything fake is valued over everything that is natural & authentic, you are a truly beautiful and refreshing breath of pure oxygen. Very grateful you are in this world. 🙏🏼

    Teacher here, I loved your 5 tips. I am using a similar list. Build relationships with my team members and children. I use pre assessments to determine student needs and classroom activities based on need. We as a team develop systems for assessments and timing based on grade level standards. We calendar assessments and objectives. We then reassess after instruction to see if we need to make adjustments to the calendar or research a concept. We also take on going professional development. This was inspiring. thanks

    I love this so much! I am about to go out to my girls to check my lambing and my babies on the ground. My flock is tiny compared to yours but I am just loving all this info. We are slightly different here in New Zealand as to how we run things, for instance our climate is such that we don't lamb indoors, it's all in paddock, and they are grass fed 100% rather than hard fed which is a bit more on the simple side. Also for me right now I do this because I enjoy it rather than for the financial returns, but from a husbandry aspect, everything you share goes a long way to making us all better stewards to our flocks. I am about 3 or so years in and still learning each and every day and I know I have a long ways to go, but your vids inspire me to grow what I am doing and maybe make it something that is profitable. So again I just want to say thank you for sharing this all with us

    Great vid👍5 great tips, money is interesting issue having experience in sheep I would look at layout shed n think cost putting something in new or second hand n is worth fixing when you have enough finances eg water trough, I seen farmers spend no money having manual fill n clean water trough, time n labour is big cost. Put in troughs but not functioning well then replacing with another trough or putting water lines in deciding cutting lines n changing it. All these silly problems cost money n time so planning n asking people with working experience in this field will save money. Plan your daily jobs n see where you can be efficient despite it cost money to setup it will pay later on. I hope this helps anyone managing sheep setup.

    Great video.
    While I have kept sheep for over 20 years as a hobby, my day job was a building site manager with millions of pounds worth of turn over a year.
    All well run business runs on planning and systems and sheep farming is no different.
    I used excel to project lambing dates etc.
    There is a program called Microsoft project which is excellent and you can produce Gant charts and put costs in etc. I'm sure a smart lady like yourself would breeze through it.
    Just a thought.

    Do you think that you could implement a cafeteria system into your existing system whereby you create a wagonwheel grazing area under irrigation aroung your sheephouse, allowing your sheep,even in their individual groups the way you split them up, to have access to fresh grazing throughout the day but are being fed your special rationsfrom the time they get locked up for the night. Obviously I ask for the sake of bringing your cost to produce down. You are a great inspiration. Thank you!

    The only tweak I have on your lambing cycle as you work those out are what big holidays that are the best prices for lamb each year that you can work your way backwards from - ie when the lambs go for processing for those holidays as you need as many as you can at the right weight by that date for your best returns on that lambing cycle - Easter and Christmas and Jewish or Greek holidays are they big in Canada?

    • @SandiBrock
      @SandiBrock  5 лет назад +1

      Easter remains the biggest market through the year, which I do try to hit... Problem is, it falls on a summer breed (July) and the ewes are the hardest to get bred in this month... If I aim for lighter lambs and breed in August or September, I run into lambing in the dead cold of winter, which doesn't work well either... So I do try to aim for these markets, but sometimes logistics just doesn't line up...

    Great advice not only for farming but for starting any business! My husband has decided to get serious about expanding our beef cattle herd (which means a new job for me) so I love watching your videos so I can apply it to our farm...I wish I didn’t have to get rid of my sheep when I was pregnant with our last kiddo! Maybe some day...

    Hi Sandi, Do you turn your sheep out ? Coming from the UK I have only had experience of sheep being under cover for winter/lambing otherwise they are in the fields. I was wondering if maybe you have them indoors because of the predator risk ?

    • @npknscrb
      @npknscrb 5 лет назад

      Yes, she has stated that she keeps them indoors year round because of predator risk. The main space has sides that roll up for ventilation and they grow a lot of the feed on farm.

      You bet... Dianne is right. The farm is pretty concentrated with coyotes so I made the decision to keep the sheep indoors.

    Do your sheep go outside? Just curious since I haven't seen that. Or maybe you only film in your barn area? Enjoy the info, as a hopeful large acre land owner in the future.

      She had said she lives in coyotes all over her farm. She doesn't want to risk their health.

      Emma was right... We are surrounded by coyotes, so I made the choice to keep the sheep indoors...

      Thanks for the reply! Coyotes are something we deal with in Texas as well so when I finally upsize to more land I'll have to bear that in mind!

    I liked it, because you have put points practically in place as Sheep's farming demands. Secondly your word " working hard is not enough to achieve results, but working hard with education of particular field is important " all the best to you. Wonderful job. Keep it up. It has benefited me. Thank you. Mohammed Suhel
