Best Method to Add Remote Start | DIY Detailed Install | N2 Designs 2010-2019 OEM Key and Phone App

- In this video, I thoroughly filmed myself installing the N2 Designs Remote start kit and cellular app module for the 5th gen 4Runner G-key. PLEASE FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS. While this install is pretty straight forward and basically plug and play, its important to follow N2 Designs instructions because you may not have the exact setup I do and therefore maybe you need to do one more step. Check out the video to me install it on my 2015 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro!

Good job on the explanation of the install. The remote start is one of the best options I’ve ever installed on my 4 runner. It’s well worth the investment. With the cell phone antenna add-on, the car Link app works flawlessly. It shows the batteries voltage the outside temperature and if you look further into the app you have a map of where your vehicle is. You must preset your heater in the winter and your air conditioner temp in the summer but the more you use it the more you appreciate it. A must have.

The more videos of this I watch, the more nervous I am to try to do it myself. I've had this remote start for at least 6 months waiting for the confidence and time.
It is a bit intimidating to do wire tapping. If you are uncomfortable with it, maybe a friend that is more comfortable could do it with you?
@Overland Engineer it's really pulling all that off and finding the right set of wires. Vikings Garage put something in the wrong place the first time, and if he can screw up, I know I can.
Just pick up a 2017 4runner SR5 premium for the wife and the only thing it doesn't have that she wants is remote start... Looks like it's gonna have it now as soon as they are back in stock.

Can I have my vehicle start at certain times of the day using the app?
Congrats! Remote starts are awesome. I went with the OEM remote start because it turns the vehicle off when the door is opened. While some view this as inconvenient or doesn't make sense, it makes total sense. It's a safety/anti-theft feature. If someone breaks into the vehicle while it is running and unattended, it prevents them from driving off. Likewise, if kidlets get into a running, unattended vehicle, it'll shut off preventing a potential tragedy from happening.
Well the vehicle immediately kills when the brake is pressed and you can't put it into gear until you press the brake. It will only stay running if the key is inserted before pressing the brake and shifting. So it seems safe enough and anti-theft enough to me!

I have owned my 4runner for about 2 months now and I am absolutely terrified to do anything to it. Is there any advice you have or where to start or what to get set up etc.
I guess it depends on why you are terrified. I bought one with 100k miles knowing I would change stuff. If I had one brand new I could see that. If you are terrified because you feel in experienced, just start with little stuff and build up confidence. Thats all I did. RUclips has plenty of content to learn most things.
