  • How to program or initialize or reset the sunroof on a 2008 Ford F250.
    This should work for F-350 and 450 of the same vintage as well.
    This one is a 2008, but if you have the same switch setup, it should work for you.

    This worked perfectly on my 2009 King Ranch 6.4. Sir, you are the best. I just installed a new track assembly. The motor started doing crazy things like stopping halfway, not opening, but closing... etc. This fixed it . Thank you sir. I am subscribing to your channel.

    I have that same light fixture and sunroof button control on my 2004 F-150 Triton 5.4 V8(3) Fx4. This is a non-Heritage model though. Maybe it's not available on the Heritage F-150, but it is on mine. Ford......gotta wonder.
    But I did have to rebuild the sunroof system as the brittle parts started breaking and it damaged the tracks. Thanks for the reset info, now it works properly after following your instructions.

    Can you show a video on replacing the switch?

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  Год назад

      If I ever get another one I guess I can. The switches hardly ever go bad.
      But basically you pull down that overhead console... The switch is inside that. The console just snaps into place so you have to get your fingers in behind it and pull it down firmly. Once it pops out, you can see the switch.
      The only catch is, those are older trucks now and those console sometimes tend to be very brittle and will fall apart. And they're not available anymore

    Hi, love your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have rebuilt 3 of these in my specialty auto shop in Florida. All with success. Today after I installed the sunroof cartridge the unit would not close just bump back and open and tilt then repeat over and over until I pressed the sunroof button. I did the reset and it took, however it won’t close in closed position and takes 6 times only moving about and inch before it performs one touch opening. The tilt doesn’t go all the way it only tilts like an inch. Any suggestions? 2008 King Ranch F150

      Have you tried resetting it a couple more times? Sometimes the motors have kind of lost their mind, so to speak, when they've experiences track failure and it takes a few times doing the procedure to get them to act right.

      @@SealofPerfection Thanks for answering so quick. I tried 3-4 times. Should I keep on trying? I was thinking it needs a computer/motor

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  3 года назад

      @@RoadshowChris I guess it's possible. If the track is aligned correctly and the cables were okay, then there's nothing else left but the motor.
      The module is inside the motor, so there's only that and the switch, which seems to be working okay.

    • @RoadshowChris
      @RoadshowChris 3 года назад

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  3 года назад +1

      @@RoadshowChris Yeah, the switch is just a switch. I doubt it's working intermittently.
      All the circuitry is inside the motor. There's no module anywhere else. The motors are "smart", so to speak.
      My only other concern is if the guides are perfectly aligned with each other, because if they're like 2 teeth off, that might put it in a bind and make the motor not want to move it.
      But if you can program it and it fully cycles when you do that, it's probably fine, and then I'm back to thinking the motor is bad.

    I have replaced the rails on my 17’ Superduty. I have cleaned and lubricated the seals per your video. When performing the initialization procedure the sunroof goes through all operations except opening meaning the shade operates and the roof vents. With that my remaining issue is the two pieces of glass are not level. The sunroof is just slightly lower resulting in wind noise. Suggestions please.

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  3 года назад +1

      Adjust it. Open it a bit. Then close it. Use the Torx 25 screws...loosen the two middle ones.
      Then you can loosen each rear one, one at a time...adjust the front glass up until it sits just a hair higher than the rear. Then adjust the front the same way, except as close to level with the roof as you can. Note that some of them won't get quite that high, so just push it all the way up if it won't.
      Then you're good.

    I just replaced all of the rails in my 05F350. My problem is that the up-and-down tilt works fine but the slide back doesn't it just seems to bind in clicks and then resets any guidance on this please

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  2 года назад

      Make sure they are both in sync with each other. When I install that type of kit, when I put the new parts in I push them all the way to the "max tilt" position, and then install the motor to lock it down. That way you know they're in the same position.
      If they are out of time/sync with each other, it can bind.
      To do it, you'll need to drop the motor so you can move the lower guides by hand.
      And: Did both guides slide into the track easily without binding?
      Also: the "grooves" in the upper guides (the part the glass screws to) need to have the "pins" in the lower guides in the right groove. Make sure that's right.

      @@SealofPerfection Thanks for the reply and the great video. My installation of the parts went smoothly. My mistake was that my initial setting of the sunroof (with the 4 screws) was set too high. When I did your programming trick, the sunroof came back to the closed position but was instead tilted up. So, I just loosened up the 4 screws and adjusted the sunroof to the closed position, tightened the screws and it worked perfect...thanks again for your video!

      @@SealofPerfection I just replaced it. And I did pull the glass and inspect it but couldn't find anything wrong. It seems completely out of sync. • @SealofPerfection

      @@slowsixo Replaced what? The track or the glass?
      So when you push "Open" it goes vent? If so, try just doing the procedure and let it go wherever it wants to go. All the way vent...just let it. When it stops, release the button and re-press just like you do in the procedure when it's open.
      Sometimes they are way out of whack and you just have to adapt and let it figure out where it is.
      It's possible the motor is bad. You could unplug it for awhile and see if it resets. Doesn't always work, but possible.
