As someone with a birthday that always falls within a week of father's Day, sometimes on the actual day, nothing makes me feel better than someone, especially my SO, making sure that we celebrate the two separately. As a kid the two were almost always lumped together for convenience, and that made it feel less special, and like my birthday wasn't as important. Good on that husband for taking the extra consideration to celebrate his wife on her own day, and taking charge of separating the plans. And happy birthday, RUclips dad!

With the grandparents story, I didnt realize while my grandparents were alive, but now that I am older, I was constantly pushed aside. I don't hold it against them as I was in the most stable home, but it still hurts that, as the only girl (all of my cousins are male), I wasnt given the same opportunity to be close to my grandparents.

For the grandparents story, i agree with morgan and jerry but to a point. i am a child of a single mother, never have known my father, and yes i was very close with my grandparents but i never was jealous of vacations they went on or felt the need to spend time with grandparents more then my cousins. maybe that’s just my mindset cause i’ve always been content with just me and my mom but idk

Based on the relationship described it seems like their cousins are close to them and probably, for example, just call to catch up. They prolly see them as parents as well… does op call just to call? Or just sits in the sideline basing their opinion on what their parents say and taking everything personal? They take personally what their cousins get and they don’t… do they feel bad when it’s the other way around? When they go so many trips, get so and so gifts and their cousins don’t?
I get that the grandparents were trying to help the single parents and I guess as someone who has been pushed aside by grandparents (my step-dads parents) I understand the feelings and just wanting give up on the relationship. especially when it’s more than just trips and no matter wether in the argument the cousins were right or wrong they always took the cousins who didn’t have parents side it’s draining and frustrating and it’s sounds like it has been pointed out to them and refuse to change and at what point is it not worth it to put continue yourself through the hurt for the relationship and approval of the people who continue to cast you aside and show favoritism
I agree with you. It seems unhealthy to me to chase a person who has already rejected you after confronted and to be the facilitator of the relationship when you’re the grandchild. You’re just setting yourself up for failure. It’s better to spend that energy and time with the people who actually cherish their relationship with you.
The ice cream recipe is difficult as it’s procured from different ice cream stores. So the main store that I got the products from a store in Los Angeles call Gingers ice cream. Other product is insanely good however it is also insanely expensive. One flavor that I did use is from Baskin Robbins the trusty jamoke almond fudge and that is priced reasonably at nine dollars a quart. Compared to the other product that is roughly $30 a quart or $15 a pint. The flavors that I used from Gingers are , Keylime, sour cherry chocolate fudge brownie layered and a graham cracker pie shell one flavor at a time freezing between layers. And the second pie in a graham cracker crust, chocolate fudge with brownie from Gingers, and the mocha almond fudge from Baskin-Robbins. Then but some fudge that I detail the surface of the jamoke almond fudge fudge brownie pie commonly referred to as a Blackbottom pie, and then refroze them until serving. I will say the key lime and sour cherry was an amazing combination. I do recommend everyone try it. Anyways I want to thank all of you for watching the show and being a part of our lives. Dad

We’d all have a feast and then sit down to hand out gifts, and every year my cousins always got big dollar items while my sisters and I got hand me downs or essential items like pants. I only learned years later into adulthood that the parents were buying the gifts and then giving them to my grandparents to gift to us. So my mom could only afford small things as a single parent. My aunts and uncles were more well off and got the lavish gifts. That whole time I thought we just weren’t liked enough.

Mother ultimatum story: as an oilfield wife myself, I can completely understand the never ending feeling of loneliness and feeling like ur a single mom, or entirely single but with a diamond ring on ur left hand. In that regard I understand completely. Do I agree? Absolutely not, but I understand and her feelings are valid. However the ultimatum is not the way to go. She needs to figure out her marriage on her own, hopefully they can get into marriage counseling and she can see how much damage this person is doing to her family and everything works out ❤️

The take for the grandparents story is ridiculous. Those kids don't deserve to be punished by having grandparents taken away because their cousins don't have a father. If she's done putting in the effort to maintain a one sided relationship, there's nothing wrong with that.
May sounds selfish tbh. My Dad does help and has a different kind of love for my nieces and nephews whose sperm donors are not in their lives. We all do as aunts and uncles as well. Some day when my son is older I will explain it to my son hopefully he has a good heart and is able to understand 💙 however I do take my son around my Dad whenever possible and he's a toddler because I do believe that kind of bond is needed. Not only on special occasions.
