I've used RMC Hybrid on a few exterior projects, most notably my mailbox post. The post was made from western red cedar, and the Hybrid has held up very well over the past 2 years. Full disclosure, you will need to touch up and completely recoat as the wood dries out. Overall, RMC Hybrid is a quality product that does work
Thanks, I am happy to hear that you had good experiences with Hybrid. But I can't really grasp how your experiences are compatible with my test. It seems to me that your mailbox post is exposed to rain all the time, so the coating does protect it, put in my test it soaked up the wine? Not sure what to do with that...
@Wooden Soul if it rained wine, my project post would have similar results to your test, but my wife would sure be happy. Good stuff as always, and looking forward to your test of the ceramic.
Hahaha, I would be happy too, if it rained wine 🤣 In all seriousness, it can’t mean that the Hybrid coating still allows some liquid to penetrate the wood, and the wine color visualizes this. I wonder if Hybrid has better UV protection than regular RMC 2C? Thanks for your kind words and I am also looking forward to that test 😆
Great video as always my friend. I think any oil hard wax finish will protect to some extent, but is not totally impervious. I thin’ only an enamelled finish will truly protect over a long period of time,. Anxious to see the results of the nano coat experiment, but just like the Black Forest coating, I’m highly sceptical.
Yeah, I think there are limits to oil based finishing, unfortunately 😫 I remember you said that the Black Forest one is no good, so I am curious to see if your experience is confirmed
Um...you didn't test with WATER...you know...the clear stuff the drops from the sky? How often will red wine sit unattended on a piece of wood for over 60 minutes? Even if it does, a quick sand and reapply fixes it.

The hybrid wood protector holds up better to UV exposure. According to Rubio.
I know, apparently that’s the only advantage. I should test that too 😆
Thank you so much for making this! I am also glad to know that the extra cost will not be worth it in my water-exposed projects.
Most welcome :D
He didn't test with WATER!

No, I always test red wine because I drink red wine and the chances of rain in my living room is slim… 😆
