- It finally happened, a legit NPC marriage candidate got the Mermaid's Pendant and there was no wedding to be had.. I had no idea this was even possible but turns out it was! Never before has Mumps been rejected by someone.. there's a first for everything! Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always!

Wow! That is a deep theory
The Tea Set is INCREDIBLY rare. You can only receive it from the marriage candidates during the feast of the winter star (so no children, no old people, no married people, etc).
You get one chance per year, you have to get one of the potential spouses as your gift giver (12/28 chance), and then you have a 1/14 chance of getting it...and that's ASSUMING they all have an equal chance, and that the chances aren't weighted towards the less valuable stuff. Or basically a 3% chance per year. 3% in itself isn't too bad, but the TIME involved to be allowed to roll the RNG on that 3% draw is staggering, especially on a "normal" playthrough of the game.

@@frogslegs9502 AFAIK the Tea Set is on the "default" set of gifts. Some NPCs have overrides, which are Clint (metals), Evelyn (cookies), Marnie (eggs), Robin (wood & stone), Willy (fishing supplies), and the children (dolls, clay etc.). Everyone else will use the "default" list, which includes the tea set

DF the tea set is a gift that you can only get from the feast of the winter star from all but a few of the npc's. You have a wierd luck for getting unique items recently

Okay, so i have a theory! There really isn't a way to prove it though.
Its hinted that Abigail is the Wizards daughter, which you know. Caroline used to say she'd take walks to the wizards tower, and not to tell Pierre. The Wizard was previously married to a witch. When going to get the magic ink back, the wizard says he made a mistake that drove his wife away, she turned green and started flying around the country side.
I think, his wife came home and caught the wizard and Caroline in bed, (green hair Caroline, so the witch turned green) and he got Caroline pregnant, thus driving the witch away. Which is why you can use a prismatic shard to get rid of your children at the witches hut. She hates that her husband had a child with another woman. Now Caroline is the reason the witch flies around cursing the country side. Everyone thought Mayor Lewis and Marnie had drama, The wizard and Caroline both cheated on their spouces.
Thank you! I just got to this part in my play through, and i also just rewatched the DF video for Abigail and the wizards Daughter. I thought it was interesting. What else could the wizard have done?
To add to your theory, Abigail has dialogue that she once dyed her hair purple...and then after that, it just stayed that colour.

Hi DF I saw on the last vid someone commented about seeing Demetrius hiding behind a bush near the playground where he normally hangs out, and when they saw him there was just a “...” dialogue bubble above his head. You should look into this for one of your videos!! I believe someone said it was on summer the 20th but idk if there’s a definitive date for it to work. Anyways yeah bye

I saw it happen two or three times in my game as well. It only happens during summer when Demetrius visits the fountain and walks around near the bushes. I believe what happens is, is that his AI is so clumsy that he walks right into a bush and gets stuck there.
Because if my memory serves me right, I seem to recall him standing behind the bush for a short while, displaying either "..." or a question mark above his head and after a few seconds walking right through the bush and quickly hurrying home. The same way NPC's behave if they get blocked by someone or something.
That's just what I recall. I'd have to play my game again to make sure.
That's just Demetrius doing research! But i've never seen anyone else do it, so that part might be a glitch🤔

If you divorce a spouse during the two weeks before the baby arrives, the birth/adoption event doesn't happen. It's basically treated like the pregnancy/adoption never existed. Kinda sad, really.

Video Idea: Some rocks in the mines are broken with one hit, some need two hits (especially with an iron/ gold pickaxe, which most people use in mid game), is there a better chance to find a ladder/ shaft when mining the "stronger" rocks, than the "easier" ones?
