IMO, being a noob in your first year and making mistakes is actually the immersive way to play Stardew. You were a city boy and you suddenly decided to tend a farm, a deserted one in fact with no known internet. So, I guess fumbling on early days and possibly having an unexpected deficit in your budget are part of learning.
i feel this lol cuz i really did have so much fun the first time i ever played but bc i got curious and watched videos like these i feel like i should be doing everything perfectly now :’(
@@stalcry02 There's different types of stardew players. Not sure if a person can instantly be perfect or want to. My farm, in my game, isn't as aesthetic as I'd want it to be. Seeing the videos of people's farms on videos kind of makes me discouraged, but it makes money quick lol. I would suggest using mods, such as the CJB cheats menu. You don't have to use cheats to win, but it takes some of stress away for bundles. After playing the game legitimately, the first time around, it has become a lot easier to manage time.
Feel this way too. I don‘t want to play just to make big money, that’s is not why I am playing it. I am happy when my animals are fed and I get to progress a little.
Sebastian is a programmer and has 2 computers, so there is internet
I’m up to my second year, 1st time playing and no where near progressing the way I’m seeing people progressed by year 2 on RUclips. I think I overloaded myself on info via tip videos and now I’m burnt out. I feel like I’m playing it wrong even tho I keep trying to learn the do’s and don’ts

Not just blueberries. The man said califlour for spring. 😂 Parsnip then kale then unload everything made on strawberries ma man.
@@d-swagg9683 kale not potato?
@@trueblueclue I think while yes the potato is more profitable than kale in general, in smaller numbers, the difference between the amounts you'll get back in week 2 of spring 1 when using either potatoes or kale is hardly existent. You'll still end up with 12k-15k when everything is optimized to begin with and you don't really have enough energy to be spending on more than 100 strawberries
@@d-swagg9683 kale is too expensive and lose value. Potato grows at the same speed and have higher profit for this reason
@@d-swagg9683 It's doable if you take advantage of the salmonberry season and other enery food like leeks and dandelions, where time becaises the only issue. Highest amount of strawberries I was able to get Y1 was something like 210, though when the new update came out with the 4 corners map I started a new save and was only able to get 160 this time. And yeah, potatoes are def the way to go, however it's also a good idea to get some parsnips for the last couple days before it's too late to plant potatoes to gain profit towards getting strawberries, that's what I do anyway

‼️NOOB RULE NUMBER 21‼️
Ignore where he says don’t buy parsnips!!!! you need them to complete 2 BUNDLES IN THE COMMUNITY CENTER!!! Don’t make that mistake!!!
I have a few seeds in a chest. From spring.
Ahh, no... not at all. You need only fill three slots with gold star crops. Corn, Melons and Pumpkins do nicely. Just plant the 15 seeds you get at the start and they will do fine :)
If you empty your starting bank into parsnips you'll easily get the 5 golds and 1 plain Parsnip for your cc. After that then kale will give you the most profit in time for the egg festival's strawberries.
@@tootall1488 Yes, because gold quality pumpkins and melons are much cheaper than parsnips.
I like parsnips because almost everyone likes them, fast friendship, also pam loves them, so why not.
I’ve put over 500 hours into this game and pick the fruit bats every time. It can be super helpful in a 1 year community center challenge.
Same here! Not having to buy fruit trees until winter then just letting them grow is so much easier!
the cave becomes useless and that one choice is better made with the more game time spent after year one.
so, with bats you can tile the floor and use the space for other things like a tea and coffee cave.
a treasure cave, storing and showing off some cool items.
so, it is easy to get all the mushrooms by winter if you open the secret woods and make friends and mine.
the wizard gives purple mushrooms in the post.
if you pick mushrooms, the boxes take up space and sort of "lock" the theme of this space.
i pick bats for the future game with far more days beyond the 1st year.
mushroom cave is a choice for early game but eventually means nothing.
bats are for the long term thinker's

I’m still in winter year one in my first play through, but I’ve reached the bottom of the mine. Here’s a tip; you can put chests in the entrance to the mines so every time you reach a checkpoint/elevator thing you can go back up and put any valuables or things you don’t wanna lose or to make inventory space

some nitpicks from my experience:
3:17 “dont craft sprinklers yet”
it all depends on how u want to play but it is definitely worth it to get sprinklers early game. energy will be ur biggest limiter during this time, and having to manually water crops will leave u without any energy at the end of the day and will also limit how many crops u can grow.
you can actually get (normal quality) sprinklers by the first egg festival if you rush the mines. with this you will have more energy and can therefor make more profits
4:33 “don’t go mining on a bad luck day”
unless u are trying to clear 15+ floors a day, if you have bad luck that day you can still clear floors easily. its not ideal but it’s def still possible
5:29 “don’t choose the fruit bat cave”
both the mushrooms and fruit bats have pros and cons, but both serve a purpose. mushrooms are best for early day mining trips where you can eat them for energy. fruit bats are best for the community center (specifically getting the greenhouse before winter). neither will make u much money late game so it’s useless to compare the profits
6:48 “don’t join joja”
everybody has a different preferred playstyle so saying that it will “ruin the experience” is just wrong. joja is a more straight forward route where you can unlock the perks of the community center quicker and with little to no effort
7:07 “don’t marry early”
it’s up to the player when they want to marry, unless you are spending ridiculous amounts of gold getting gifts for them there’s literally no harm in it
For most people the community center is very fun to try and find rare items and then feel fullfilled when you get bundle complete
5:06 "save gold star items"
The reward for winning the contest is completely useless since it's easy to get an infinite amount of points anyways
"Do Not Marry Early"

3 words: ginger island volcano.

I'd understand if he said don't craft the first level sprinklers, because those are useless compared to a copper watering can. Investing in quality sprinklers as soon as you can is always a good option.

RAZOR MAIN SKBDBDJDJD
"And only use the fertilizers on multiple harvest crops like green beans."
NO NO NO. Don't use them on multiple harvest crops. They only work on the first harvest anyway so it's not worth it. High value single harvest crops should be what you fertilize.
Also a lot of these are play style. If someone wants to play for money and a cool looking farm, Joja and selling lots of things might be how they play. If someone is really into the relationships with Npc's they might want marriage and kids as soon as possible. It's a game you can do whatever you want with, there isn't a specific goal that everyone has.
Yeah, I had a panic attack when I heard him say that.
But wouldn't speeding up the first havest make it so subsequent harvests can come sooner?
@@fireblast8972 I was talking specifically about fertilizer not speed grow. Technically speed grow can be helpful on multiharvest crops if you do the math (I think there's a way to get one extra harvest strawberries for example).
omg L is that you? (i’m talking about your profile pic, i love death note)
Sorry but I am highly against siding with Joja. The rewards you get from the community center is far better than just having a few items for a little cheaper. Which is only just as much as Pierre's. Besides, can your conscience handle it. (Save the town) (No to Joja)

WESTERN SPY! YOU'RE NOT BORIS!
They also give you a Star Fruit at one point, which increases your maximum energy as soon as you eat it, that alone is worth it.
“Don’t go for the fruit bat cave. It always has nothing” *shows the mushroom cave*. It is completely the opposite. I chose the fruit cave and am getting 1 or more fruit a day. My husband chose the mushroom cave and maybe gets one every week.
The way the Mushroom Cave works is you basically get 6 random mushroom every like 3-4 days. Each of those boxes in the Mushroom Cave will have a mushroom. Pick them all at the same time and like 3-4 days later, you will have 6 more.
I always hear that the Bat Cave is the worst of the two options because it is so inconsistent on how many fruits you will get and on how long it will take to get them. Where as the Mushroom Cave basically guarantees you 6 mushrooms every 3 or 4 days so long as you remember to pick them regularly.
@@bloodwolfgaming9269 yeah I was somewhat new to the game when I commented this. I still think the Fruit cave is better as I am not good at checking the cave and the fruit will continue to pile up while the mushrooms won’t.
@@bloodwolfgaming9269 ??? The mushroom cave refills every day, that’s how I get my early money and shrooms for the bundles. The type of mushrooms are indeed random each day though.
@@ZeldaLover6 Yeah, a few bundles need shrooms too, and after that common shrooms stack up fast and are great for a little free energy/health boost while purple shrooms are rarer but really great for energy/health boosts for mining. I can see the benefits of not having to buy fruit trees early, but what I'm saving on buying salads I get to re-invest in trees. But you do need to be checking the cave every day to make it worthwhile, if you're not obsessive about that then the bats are probably better.
I've picked both the fruit bat and the mushroom. I think I do prefer the fruit. It's pretty close though.

Disagree on the sprinklers. It costs a ridiculous amount of energy to water your plants just starting out, and if you don't want to spend so much energy watering your plants, you have to ante up quite a lot of gold and resources to upgrade your watering can. Sprinklers offer permanent benefit. Every day you can use the energy lost from watering on fishing or mining to earn a profit. It probably takes less than a week for sprinklers to pay for themselves if you're doing your best to use your energy efficiently.
On my new save I got 8 quality sprinklers down by the start of my first summer, and now I'm making bank.
I fully agree, sprinklers is something you should craft as soon as possible
I agree, quality sprinklers all the way. I finished the community center except for the bulletin board in my first year in part thanks to this. Lets you focus more on fishing and mining and spending time building relationship meters too
Yeah on my recent play through I got 30 quality sprinklers around the end of the first spring and they have been a godsend through summer so far.
I disagree, because you can use the bath. Then you can go mining and fishing all day when it’s raining.

@@azailealopez3371 Frozen tears are found in the mines but it's usually level 40-79 if I'm not mistaken. You can also find them by fishing when chests show up (I recommend fishing on high luck days). Hope that helps a little
When I first clicked this I was curious as to why it has so many dislikes. After watching, I know now. Most of these tips are great, like getting a silo before cutting all your grass and getting a coop or barn, save trees for tappers instead of cutting them all down, save the seeds for field snacks, go to bed before 1am, wait until you can craft the quality sprinklers, wait until rain or winter to upgrade the watering can, don't walk around with a tool selected, avoid the mine on a bad luck day, keep gold quality stuff for the fair, avoid the trashcans around NPCs, don't sell the ancient seed artifact. But the other tips are... well terrible.
Don't speed run Spring? What does that even mean? Collect everything you can in spring, year one or you have to wait until year two! Don't buy parsnips or other low cost crops? You need these things for the community center. You can't get five gold parsnips if you don't buy and plant them. Don't fertilize your crops? Are you insane? You can make basic fertilizer with the sap you collect from chopping down trees. It costs nothing and gives you better quality crops for more money and the gold quality bundle. Don't carry valuables into the mine? Yo, if you fuck up just save scum. Quit the game and reload, especially if you lose 140 iridium ore! Good lord, man. Don't choose fruit bats? That depends on how quickly want to finish the Community Center. If you want to do it quickly you will need those fruits which can be turned into wine or used for energy or gifts. Most of the towns people don't like mushrooms but they do like fruit! Don't join Joja? Maybe not for your very first play through, but if you want that achievement you'll need to pick one time to go with them. Just know it's expensive and you will lose out on those friendship points.
DON'T GET MARRIED? What's wrong with you, Sharky? You married Leah, that's why she appears useless. She's moody! Honestly, you should get married as soon as you possibly can. Your spouse will provide you with gifts a couple times a week (which often you can give right back to them and they'll enjoy it!) and once you get to 13 hearts you get a stardrop! Plus the achievement for getting married and there's another one for having kids!
Of course joining joja cop will losing some of important especially bundles has many good stuff for early game if you can complete them
I got quality sprinkler easily without worry crafting, marry is optional if you can do it
If you are too busy with the mission and forgot to talking it will reduce her/him faster each days
Thanks to the bat cave I was able to complete the artisan bundle due to all the rare fruit (the one that only come from planted trees like apple)
Also, you should try to buy a sweet gem berry during summer so you have the extra energy in Winter
I would definitely pick fruit cave because it means you can complete the greenhouse bundle without needing to lots of money on fruit trees and have them only produce in one season. No-one makes their main income from the cave anyway
personally i do use the mushroom cave for food and income but yiu do have a good point
Yeah I agree I almost completely finished the community center in year 1 and it saved me like 20000 gold
I picked the bat cave and only got the greenhouse in summer of my second year because i couldn’t finish the artisan bundle without a fruit tree and they take a whole season to grow and only produce fruit in one season unless you have a greenhouse. Havent harvested my mushrooms in like two seasons because i have like 50 of each and i never use them.
@@Bumbybleh I finished the community center in year 1 with the mushroom cave on multiple playthroughs. Also you can't say it saved you 20.000 gold, since you really only need apple and pomegranate for the bundles. They cost 10.000 and you also make profit out of the fruits for a long time. And you need them for the Bulletin Board, so you can complete the greenhouse first and plant the trees there making you independent from seasons.
Because of that I think the mushrooms are the the better choice, I do agree though, the fruit bats aren't bad. I also had playthroughs where I chose the fruits and I was very happy with it. This video makes it seem like there is only one choice, but depending on the playstyle the fruits may be the better one.
I agree. I’m on my first play through and I’m struggling to get the greenhouse. I picked the mushroom cave. I picked it because all of the Reddit threads said its better to have a steady income via mushrooms but I’m up to my second year spring and it’s getting painful waiting an entire season to possibly get the fruit I need. I feel like if I picked the fruit cave, once I got the artisan bundle done and didn’t need the extra fruit anymore, it would’ve been a steady income via selling fruit anyway.

"don't make sprinklers, they are expensive"
Me in my first fall with 8 gold bars and already 10 sprinklers: excuse me what?
Yeah, every quality sprinkler I place is 8 crops worth of daily watering I get to skip. That's time and energy I can then immediately re-invest back into mining for more resources. I feel like 8-12 quality sprinklers by fall really pay for themselves in no time. As a side benefit, once I have quality sprinklers down, it doesn't matter when I upgrade my watering can (vs timing it around rainy days and events).

I never liked Joja because your character hated working there so I instantly boycotted them
I have an evil character who's plan is to climb up the hierarchy and become the owner of joja, to destroy it from the inside. He couldn't succeed and came up with a better plan. Moved to stardew valley, befriended everyone, then became a joja member and ruined the town. He became a respectable member of joja and years later fufilled his plan. Not only he shut down joja, but also ruined pelican town, and made half of the townspeople leave. I also did Pierre's darkest timeline, which means i married abigail (i fucked his business and his daughter). Rp-ing in stardew is super fun.

Wrong. By getting married, you can get an easy stardrop that wilm help you out a bunch in early game. The sooner you get married, the better.

@@TheFrozenSheep I'm just waiting on a rainy day in spring so I can get the mermaid pendant in year 2.
My first time ever playing and I was married to Emily by mid/late summer. 😂 Ofc I was at the bottom of the mines by then so it was easy cuz she a gold digger.
I was with you all the way until the last tip. Common guys, it really isn't that hard to keep your spouse happy. Get into a habit of talking to them, kissing them, and giving them a like or love gift every day. When you get to the point of marriage, you are likely not short on supplies so you can easily give them daily gifts, and it literally takes 5 (in game) minutes out of your day to do this. Seriously, you have no excuse to ignore your spouse. If you keep them at at least 10 hearts or higher, they will do things around the farm for you, namely watering your crops, feeding the animals, and giving you breakfast, including coffee.
As for kids, I can completely agree with you on that. Kids are completely useless, and that is one of the huge gripes I have with this game. They are just for show. I'm still waiting for a mod that makes it so your kids do chores for you.
Child labour. xD
I chose the fruit bats, and didn't need the fruit trees for the community center!
Yeah and u can also process the fruits to make more profitable stuff
Ok I know this is an old video but please buy the fruit bat cave and make the berries into jam and wine. The mushroom cave is pointless because you get another mushroom cave later in the game.

I kinda beg to differ with the bat cave thing. When I sell the crops dropped by the bats it's always purple stars and those are worth a lot. Plus it kinda helps with small quests, various gifts, and the community center collections.
agreed
Something I'm always surprised that people don't know is that if you're unsure whether or not you've donated something read the description. It will say that Gunther can tell you more if you haven't donated it yet.
Doesn't it always say that, though? I walked in with a bunch of Gunther items and he didn't want them.
no it shouldn't, it should tell you a short description of the item
If an item says "Gunther can tell you more if you donate this to the museum" that means you have not donated. If it says it's description, it is either something you cannot donate or you have already donated. :)
jmarkellos you look like gunther
but there are items that never say "Gunther can tell you more about this" that you can donate, I stg I've seen a lot like that
You know, since it's better to dedicate a full day to mining, if you die in the mines just close the game and reboot, game doesn't save until you go to sleep, your loss wont be saved until you sleep.
Shark: Dont get cheap crops! *Me who earned 600 coins off of 10 parsnips* Me again: Oh was i not supposed to do that?

"Do not chose Bat cave" Bats get you fruit that can help finish the Community Center before you get the item yourself like pomegranates, cherries, apples and oranges even while not in season just to name a few.
Yeah this guys advice is kinda BS tbh
Also highly useful for mining. Just pop into bat cave and pick up the fruits before going to farm ores... Keeps energy/HP high
Rather go farm 250+ gold ores plus gems and monster parts and have food to support me than 4 mushrooms now and then 😂😂 to say I can make them ores into 50 gold bars and sell for almost 20k coins.. (for first-2nd year players)
Yeah the bats are better for the early access to aprocot apples ect.

i mean when there were choices i always paused my game and carefully considered each option and also looked up on steam and reddit what people thought

3:21 Actually, it's only standard 'Sprinklers' that you need to avoid like the plague. 'Quality Sprinkler' on the other hand, is worth the payoff.
5:55 Fruit Cave, on the other hand, has the argument that it CAN pull up 'Artisan' fulfilling Community Centre fruits.
