It's crazy how Charlette has all these political goals while Rozemyne is just oblivious to politics. She really doesn't get it at all. Doesn't get how important it is to everyone around her while she just accidentally waltzes to the top, trampling everyone else, while wearing blinders.
She’s in a completely different environment. But she’s also in her mid 20s and they are just a bunch of kids. That’s one of the reasons why she’s strangely extremely competent.
Theae short stories are great for showing us all these little interactions and that the world still turns when Rozemyne isn't there. It also puts her weirdness into perspective with the rest of the world.

Rihyarda's POV is interesting in showing how her personal neutrality, as far as factions feud goes, twisted her understanding. She should, otherwise, have understood that, obviously, it simply wasn't possible for Sylvester to discuss imprisoning his mother with his retainers ( even if the fault ultimately lies with him being lazy and having done absolutely nothing to distance his mother's crownies from his entourage, something he won't even do years after he imprisoned his mother, Rozemyne had proved to him just how incompetent his overall retinue truly is and Damuel ( a layknight, no matter how good at paperwork he can be, meaning Sylvester's archscholars didn't even bother to hide their misgivings all that much... on paperwork which ends in Aub Ehrenfest's hands, talk about confidence and lack of respect ) sniffed out long time embezzlement ). Well, I wouldn't take Lamprecht's view of Oswald's, or anyone else's for that matter, thought process at face value ;). It's clear as day that Lamprecht is pretty subpar, as far as his household goes, being, by far, the less skilled in pretty much anything out of all the Linkbergs. His own view of Oswald notably doesn't take into consideration the mad devotion Wildumb's head attendant has towards Veronica and his absolute faith in the FVF's mindset. For instance, while Lamprecht considers Oswald nice to let him resign if he so wished, he doesn't realize that, in fact, Oswald is doing all he can to get rid of anyone who's not a Veronica's devotee in his charge's retinue, and Lamprecht in particular since he's Rozemyne's brother ( all the more since Oswald, being so faithfull in the FVF's mindset, is eagerly eating all this " family " bullshit that Veronica used her whole life to hide her absolute selfishness and egotistic mindset ). Oswald is intensely delusional and is, and will continue to be, sure that he can reinstall Veronica in her tyrannical throne ;). Ah, Lady Jonsara, you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you ? Don't you realize that your son won't even be baptized by the time Lady Philine will be able to take your sorry asses ( yours, your husband's and those of the lump of flesh which exited from your uterus ) out of HER estate and in the gutter ? No matter how unpleasant it would have been for you, you never had any other choice but to butter up your step daughter, no matter what...

Decades of embezzlement of money AND mana and of mass murdering was absolutely harmful to the duchy ( hell, the FVF believed all along that they should eradicate the Leisegangs, likely something like 80% of the archnoble population of Ehrenfest, it would have been impossible for Ehrenfest to survive something like that, it would have literally withered away in the course of a couple years at best ) ; no matter how twisted one's understanding can be, there's no way that such massive mismanagement could have been done with Ehrenfest's interests at heart ;). Rihyarda is pretty skilled at her art and certainly a model archnoble in many ways, but she's ultimately living, and thinking as a matter of fact, in an Ehrenfest that isn't the real one simply because she can't comprehend that any Ehrenfest noble, all the more a very high ranking one, could deliberately harm their very duchy for their personal interests and/or irrational grudges ( and the fact that the " ennemy " were the Leisegangs for most of her life couldn't help her understanding since, while certainly not being saints themselves, the Leisegangs actually truly care for their duchy... in which they likely lived since before even its birth ).

Hartmut has 2 older brothers. They're not named iirc, only mentioned in passing and in the Fanbook family trees. [Edit: I stand corrected, one of the 2 brothers is named]

14:15 That book is worth way more than an entire season of work for the household. It's more like a year. And if you count the living expenses to buy rent and food, then with what is left, it would take them multiple years to buy a single of those books... Gunther, as a gate captain, so a relatively high position, only gets 3 large silvers in a season of work. Effa certainly gets paid less, and same for Tuuli. She's not getting paid the price of the hairpins...
This is specifically referring to the winter seasons worth of work with the hairpins they make for Benno at that point in the story. Between Tuuli and Effa, as that would be Tuuli's metric for money as she knows what those are worth. This is about the value of their labor and what they produce, not actual money they bring in because it's a reference point of how many hairpins that book is worth, not Tuuli trying to see how long it would take to buy a book.
@@TrashTierWaifu By that point, Corinna had already bought the exclusive rights for the hairpins (end of P1V3). So Tuuli and Effa could no longer get paid for hairpins as winter handiwork. Tuuli is very explicitely referencing the price the hairpins are sold to customers, not what her pay for those hairpins are: "I knew the hairpins I made *were being sold* at a high price"
@daedalron yes, that is what I am referring to as well as Tuuli. The number of hairpins they make for the entire winter between Tuuli and Effa is close to the book enough that Tuuli can comprehend it's value. I was not talking about their net income being equal to a book. I would also point out that the contract with Corinna allows Tuuli and Effa to continue making hairpins as winter handiwork.
@@daedalron " So Tuuli and Effa could no longer get paid for hairpins as winter handiwork." Well, you're wrong ;). Tuuli and Effa being able to still make hairpins for winter handiwork was part of the contract with the Gilberta's company ;). Actually, it's a bit hard to realize, since they doesn't change their lifestyle all that much, but Myne's family's wealth is constantly growing throughout the series and they were likely already, or pretty close to be, the wealthiest family in their neighborhood. Remember that Kamil never had to be babysitted by the old negligent lady because Effa had the insane ( as far as commoners of south Ehrenfest City typical lifestyle goes ) luxury to take three years off work for him ;). Thus, it's likely that Effa, during Kamil's early years, didn't just make hairpins as winter handiwork but all year round... which should have been a great help for the Gilberta's company since they obviously couldn't train new hairpin's craftwomen overnight to accommodate the quickly growing demand during Rozemyne's slumber.
