My two cents on Wilfred are that he is just not independent or thoughtful enough to rule. Sylvester spoiled him, and Veronica brainwashed him, so he has never had to or even wanted to have an independent thought of his own until Rosemyne came along but the efforts to rehabilitate Wilfred into someone capable of ruling only farther showcases how far behind Wilfred is as a person still. Putting aside Charlotte, Wilfred doesn't even know how to or even recognize when he is being manipulated. He would be responsible for burning Ehrenfest to the ground if he was given the Aub seat. Not every good person should be put in charge of others and Wilfred is a perfect example of why that is.
Wilfred is almost always most influenced by the person to whom he last spoke. With Oswald as a retainer whispering in his ear like wormtongue it's no surprise he makes so many terrible decisions.
(probaly Detlinde) "oh so when Rozemyne passes out in front of Royalty while simply drinking tea, they apologize to her - but when I do it when putting on a splendid performance - I'm a disgrace to the whole duchy? so unfair"
As someone with more than a couple of kids... "unfair" is the guaranteed way to tell who is whining that they aren't getting everything. They think "fair" is them getting the best that everyone else gets *and* the best of what they get, ignoring that everyone else is happy with just what they have. I think that's a perfect summary of Detlinde.
yeah passing in out in front of royalty IN A PRIVATE SESSION with the eyes of close attendants is the SAME as passing out in front of royalty in a PUBLIC, CEREMONIAL setting with members coming from all over the kingdom .... totally the SAME :)
In one case, Rosemyne passed out while the prince demand that she come and talk. The second in front of the young prince was extremely embarrassing and caused an incident. So no, she did get away Scott free. But then again she didn’t pass out by overdoing it in front of the entire royal family.
Wilfried isn't a bad person, but he's an awful archduke candidate. Even back in first year, the story shows he couldn't understand Detlinde being subtly malicious. He tends to take things at face value and can't look beyond what's right in front of him. This volume really starts to show his shortcomings that were there before but not quite as obvious just from Rosemyne's pov. If Charlotte had been male, she would've been the far more viable heir and husband to Rosemyne.
1:50:00 And to be fair, Ehrenfest _was_ being absolutely insane in how they treated Gabriele and especially those who accompanied her. Yes, she was an entitled brat, possibly on the same level as Dietlinde. But that doesn't change the fact that first accepting her marrying Aub Ehrnefest's heir and _then_ demoting both of them was a stupid decision on so many levels it's not even funny. It caused a mana shortage in the archducal family which continues to plague Ehrenfest to this day, pissed off the greater duchy next door to what must have been a bigger extend than if they had simply refused the proposal outright, and sowed the seeds which would eventually blossom into a full-on blood feud between the Leisegang and Ahrensbach factions, bringing the duchy to the brink of collapse. The smart thing to do would have been to either just straight up tell Gabriele (politely, of course) to fuck off right away, or to just bite the bullet, accept her as the future first wife, and then try their hardest to absorb the nobles accompanying her into the local factions. Instead the newcomers, who could have been a massive opportunity to bring tons of outside talent and mana into the bottom-ranking Ehrenfest, were treated with malice and constantly had to fear for their lives, thus had no other choice than to create a faction of their own and bide their time until Veronica would gain power. And speaking of Veronica, her becoming the monster she is today was caused by constant harassment by the Leisegangs throughout her entire life. Those idiots really thought it would be a great idea to mistreat the person who was guaranteed by magic contract to one day hold great power within Ehrenfest and then acted surprised when she gave them a taste of their own medicine. So yeah, the greater duchies have pretty good reason to regard Ehrenfest as a backwater run by idiots, because the only track record they have when it comes to high level interduchy diplomacy proved that point beyond the shadow of a doubt.
And the mistreatement of most either high ranking person or talented person would ofc spread like wildfire ! sooo they're right thinking it's run by idiots D:
Me trying to figure out Georgine's goals, and the best I can parce together is: Screw over Ahrensbach, return to Ehrenfest and take over as Archduchess.

I kind of read the reason Ferdinand gave the cape back to Heissshitze because he didn't think he would be alive to give it back. Just me that interpreted it like that ?
He had several reasons to give it back. It would be unlikely that he would be allowed to play dinner as an Aub. He wouldn’t be allowed to wear it. He was using it as a prop to explain how pissed he was at his unnecessary help.

Also, I would appreciate it if you could tell me the difference from handling knight's weapons and multiple shields. A. In the past, there was a Zent who had all divine instruments in his hands, so there are many precedents in the long history of Yurgenschmidt, but no one else can handle two schtappe in Yurgenschmidt today. Top notch as always Trash-Tier. I do not know if you have it as a challenge with yourself to make these videos summarize the content within while also having nuggets for those currently up to date at the the time of release, but you do a great job of that regardless. While Brunhilde's little talk with Rosemyne about Groschel was a turning point for some sharp minded viewers like Trash-Tier for myself the prologue of this book is when I found a greater appreciation of her and Leonore to a lesser extent. Due to noble society having retainers in the background combined with the noble façade up at all times it is hard to get a read on some of our less publicly expressive characters. I was surprised on my initial read on just how much they care about Rosemyne personally, not merely as consummate professionals but on a deeper human level. I am 100% on board with Trash-Tier's description of Lieseletta's escort for her graduation "screw this guy". My fellow up to date LN readers know. I am truly hopeful that the inner monologue line, from this book, from Rosemyne becomes foreshadowing, "According to Muriella, she's quite popular with the boys of other duchies." I agree with some of my fellow commenters that much of Wilfred's issues can be laid at the feet of Oswald. I have my doubts on the notion that he is merely using Veronica's methods combined with knowing only bottom ranking interduchy methods. This is purely my own head cannon, unless someone has future untranslated material to confirm, that Oswald is preparing Wilfred in such a manner so that as soon as he became Aub that he would bring back Veronica. My scant evidence is that fact that in a Q&A Veronica considered Oswald "an exceptionally loyal and competent attendant who never disobeyed her" leading me to believe he, unlike Rihyarda, was completely immersed in her fraud and murder plots. Considering Oswald is a close to Ferdinand in age he absolutely knows who the "The Story of Fernestine" is about due being heavily involved in the plots themselves. If he was not involved, due to age or whatnot, in the attempts on Ferdinand I still suspect Oswald in the death of Eckhart's late wife Heidemarie. My opinion of him is that low and would love if true to see Eckart or Lamprecht, since he has had to work with him so long, get their hands on him if ever he is made to confess his crimes.
01:03:04 In Q&A with Kazuki sensei, she said he wanted warn Rozemyne from the royal family having her getting too much attention. I think he was trying to protect her in his noble way.

Agreed, when I got to the side story we all are referring to I found myself feeling I had not appreciated Lieselata enough for who she and what she does for Rosemyne.
My headcannon is that Lestilaut was going to try to explain why he had painted a portrait of Rozemyne before she received it in as exculpatory a manner as possible. That seems to fit his character and the circumstances of the exchange the best to my mind.
I just can't wait for Volume 5 where we get to see the Merchant Saint. Also Volume 5 really shows how incompetent the Royal Family really is with everything aside with the Mana shortage from the Purge and how they want the Grutrissheit but refuse to learn ancient language. Or how they just expect everyone to do everything for them no matter the cost because that's their only purpose in life, looking at you Eglantine, and basically do their job for them.

I have been looking for this the last few days. Thanks for being so consistent. These outlines show how much subtext I completely missed on my first read. 😂
I find quite ironic that Rozemyne is always scolded for not talking properly to higher ups. But on the other hand whole country has problem with not able to properly pass information. Everyone always asumes what other party means and can never talk directly to each other unless its close family(and sometimes not even then). This leads to lot of miscomunication like: Rauffen asuming Rozemyne likes ditter, Mistaking bride stealing ditter for bride taking or Relationship between Rozemyne and Ferdinand. Because of that whole country is losing a lot of information without nobody even knowing about it. Only way to solve it is basically what Rozemyne is doing. Being blunt about what you want to say and properly talking with everyone no matter they position.
Sounds great until people get offended and start offing people to protect their prescious pride. Keep in mind that commoners are killed by whims of fancy. This world does not care about working together, they care about power.
They've based all their paper negotiations off what they have in Ehrenfest, because Rozemyne knows what commoners care about. It was an important sticking point for Dunkelfelger's parchment guild as well so it didn't make their entire industry out of date over night.
Ok, so something I noticed just recently while reading the Hannalore Spin-off sequel is one of the more over-looked parts of Wilfried's characterization. We know of course that Wilfried's competence as a noble is just barely held together by the people supporting him, and that comes down to his poor education as a child. What I just realized is that he absolutely learned something during those years though, even if he didn't learn math, or writing, or music, he mastered the art of weaseling his way out of things. Wilfried always managed to escape his classes and avoid responsibility, and this volume shows the more devious results of that. Wilfried almost certainly used a plant-paper contract on purpose, the entire ditter fight was just Plan A for avoiding Dunkelfelger, even if they had won, or no matter the outcome Wilfried was going to bring up the technicality to avoid the situation either way. I'm not really saying that Wilfried is a bad person per se, but this at least shows why he's a poor fit for Hannalore, as a women of Dunkelfelger she has to stand strong and face her problems head-on, no matter what they may be, meanwhile Wilfried will take any opportunity he can to avoid doing anything he can get away from.
just wanted to say thanks for the effort to put these together it is appreciated. I cuaght it almost right when it came out this time but just got through it properly now
In here was something I thought about with Ferdinand. When Rozemyne’s stuffed rabbit got “taken”. It was basically him seeing what Veronica probably did to him often when he had things he liked. Thats why he is vary hung up on it, and another reason for him to hate this fool of a false Zant candidate.
been watching these videos for the last month or so.. kinda sad to have reached the end of the current line. my need for more noble politic in a magical world is not yet sated...
Even funnier was him complaining earlier on that the videos were too long and he should cut them down. But it was wrong. It turns out I would like to hear him talk for two hours on a book.
Thay bit with Wilfred has me wondering when Rosemyne will be able to sence mana and how much of a thing it will be when others sence hers. But I am curious why the Aurnsbach retainers couldn't sence Ferdinand's. Will is it because he's too strong? Will that impact other people being able to sence Rosemyne's mana?
Ferdinand's mana is way above pretty much anyone in Ahrensbach. As far as Roz goes, at this point, she still hasn't developed mana sensing. That comes later. Her body is still too underdeveloped. That's all I'll say on that point.
I've read to p5v8, and don't recall her ever sensing anyone else' mana. She should be able to because [redacted]. But one thing of note, she did once spread her own mana out to search a room in p4, and then sensed other people's mana, but not so much Ferdinand's. If she can already sense mana, but is already too high a level to notice anyone's but Ferdinand's, is his mana compatibility so close that she still doesn't notice?

Considering Oswald is a close to Ferdinand in age he absolutely knows who the "The Story of Fernestine" is about due being heavily involved in the plots themselves. If he was not involved, due to age or whatnot, in the attempts on Ferdinand I still suspect Oswald in the death of Eckhart's late wife Heidemarie. My opinion of him is that low and would love if true to see Eckart or Lamprecht, since he has had to work with him so long, get their hands on him if ever he is made to confess his crimes.
Let's go!!! Love this series

In Q&A with Kazuki sensei, she said he wanted warn Rozemyne from the royal family having her getting too much attention.
I think he was trying to protect her in his noble way.

“Increase ehrenfest population”
Well, guess we know what our gremlin’s next trend is gonna be. Aphrodisiac.
Maybe she can extract some something from a certain Eunuch from a certain Apothecary show that would work?! D:
Lewd love stories.... scandalous books.. well like Cinderella.... that scandalous book.... :) (And now knowing she is from Japan... she definitely has read unimaginable things for Yurgenschmidts society.... just to mention it ;) )
I just feel bad for Wilfried. He's too trusting and straightforward to ever have anything to do with playing politics. He'd be better off doing literally anything else.
I truly hate how stupid Wilfred is. I want the best for this boy but he has the critical thinking skills of a sponge.
and that's a insult to Spongebob
Thank you!!!♥️ Ive read until vol. 9 already but i still listen to your narrations... Its just calming... 😂😂
Looking back, I still can’t believe how much everything popped off in only 5 vol.
waiting on vol. 9 to come out officially. It has been torture. (Also why I’m not reading prepub, because god know I will devour it too fast and stare at the site for more like a crack head. Not that I’m not already :()
@@mingchen7704I am anxiously waiting Vol 9 myself. I like listening to these recaps because I can't see all the links that the video covers. Really adds to the depth of the stories.
1:13:32 When you can tell someone is caught up with all of the books 😆
Made me lol straight away 😂
Agreed, when I got to the side story we all are referring to I found myself feeling I had not appreciated Lieselata enough for who she and what she does for Rosemyne.
My headcannon is that Lestilaut was going to try to explain why he had painted a portrait of Rozemyne before she received it in as exculpatory a manner as possible. That seems to fit his character and the circumstances of the exchange the best to my mind.
I love the animations you keep adding. Especially the bus
The editing for the twirling scene is so hilarious. I love the way you put it together and how it encapsulates who stupid detlinde appears
I literally thought you were gonna upload next month since you have done this before 😂😂 exited for the new vid
35:02 that smile literally could inspire nightmares!😲
I just can't wait for Volume 5 where we get to see the Merchant Saint.
Also Volume 5 really shows how incompetent the Royal Family really is with everything aside with the Mana shortage from the Purge and how they want the Grutrissheit but refuse to learn ancient language. Or how they just expect everyone to do everything for them no matter the cost because that's their only purpose in life, looking at you Eglantine, and basically do their job for them.
I can forgive the king who is seemingly killing himself to keep the country afloat... but man does the rest of his family need to step up.
@@Kyla-Stormhazard spoiler but he’s also been drugged into thinking he’s not good enough to be king
I feel bad for and pitty Detlinde in a very similar way to, say, the demons in Frieren. Utterly irredeemable, but it isn't really their fault.
The animation of the magicschool bus running over Rozemyne, not once but twice, broke me, lol!
Nice! New TTW video.
*checks timestamp
Oh... I'm gonna need some snacks for this one. Feel like when the whole story comes to a close these are going to be like 3 hours long.
1:16:09 Don't know why, but Ferdinand popping up really got me.
Welcome back Ferdinand radiant smile oh how much i missed you 😂😂😂😂
The smile can't hurt you..
Meanwhile grinning Ferdinand
I’m a really big fan of this whole reading process, I really appreciate you doing this. It makes my day every time.
Always so well done, truly a highlight of my day anytime they come out.
I must confess I enjoy the little animatics you put in when you're describing the story
31:53
You mean the father/family isn't willing to let her go, right?
Family/current engagement partner. I did misspeak, yes.
I’ve been checking every day to see if this came out and it finally did and I didn’t even find out from checking. It just popped up.
Your video didn't show up in my recommended for some reason.
Very much hyped.
GREAT NEWS: Ascendance of a Bookworm is now on audible.
I'VE BEEN WAITING!!!
49:00 I thought contracts was done per county, not per country, so I thought the parchment only contract was only a thing in myne county.
They've based all their paper negotiations off what they have in Ehrenfest, because Rozemyne knows what commoners care about. It was an important sticking point for Dunkelfelger's parchment guild as well so it didn't make their entire industry out of date over night.
always a joy to see these videos pop up on my feed! happy myneday!
Love this channel. Keep it up man.
Thanks, I love the recap & look forward to part 5 vol. 4.
Hell ya new chapter.
Another great summary from the Trashlord himself
A trash tier video + Apple Watch + a day of chores = ✨PERFECTION ✨
been watching these videos for the last month or so.. kinda sad to have reached the end of the current line. my need for more noble politic in a magical world is not yet sated...
Just yesterday I was looking for this upload. Glad I wasn't off by much.
What I look forward too every month
Our host is a Sherrif, giving the Lore to this community.
This video is like an early Christmas gift.
I was waiting for this.🎉🎉
As in all things Wilfred, I blame Oswald
Yay, my favorite book report!
Love this series!!
Where we started: 35 minutes
Where we are now: 1 hour 56 minutes
Yes! :D
Even funnier was him complaining earlier on that the videos were too long and he should cut them down. But it was wrong. It turns out I would like to hear him talk for two hours on a book.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Guys I think ferdihand gave his name to rozemyne because of the hair pin she was given before Ferdinand left!!!
I've been checking for this every day thx soon much!!!!
😔i hoped that u would reach part 5 vol 5 , just got vol 6 and wanted a good recap on vol 5, i barely even remember the characters in it. From the looks of it ,at least another 30-50 days right ?

IWNXISJISNWJE I HAVE BEEN WAITING!!!
Kamini Inoriyo!
the fucking miss understanding between duchy are crazy
Is it not obvious he gave his name to Sylvester?
Ferdinand protects his identity by hiding it.
His name is currently awaiting discovery.
Don’t spoil it for me, but no, I hadn’t considered that. But it would make sense.
@neilkurzman4907
That's just my assumption, I'm not 100% sure, but it seems to be the obvious answer.
@@SheetMan
Your theory does make sense. I guess we’ll have to see how it plays out.
He did specifically say two “women” asked for his name. He didn’t say the number of men. But I imagine he would’ve offered it to Sylvester. I can’t see him demanding it.
YES!!!!
TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1:16:10 😂
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssss!
I been summon
Wilfried honestly gets on my nerves
My guess is that it is part of his character arc. So hopefully he will improve as the series goes on. But that’s just a guess on my part. Don’t spoil it for me if you’ve already read past.
