Mazda CX-50 12k Ownership Update | Was It Worth It?

- Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
- I love my 2023 Mazda CX-50, but certain limitations have led me to contemplate its successor. The main issue is the low towing capacity which isn’t feasible for towing a vehicle to the track, although the lower control arm failure and transmission’s occasional hesitation is giving me minor pause as well. Do you think this is a good reason to switch from the CX-50? Do you agree with my choice of its successor? Let me know your thoughts down below.

2 weeks ago I went into a local Mazda dealership to test the Cx5 and found it too small and didn't like the interior layout. The CX50 they had in the showroom caught my eye. I test drove it and fell in love with it. It's a nice happy medium between a CUV and sports car. The turbo AWD reminds me of my old Eagle Talon TSI days. I've owned it for 2 weeks only, but absolutely love it. It's roomy, comforable, the seats hug you nicely and I can confirm Android Auto, Waze and Google Maps directions show up on the HUD. There was also complaints on using the center dial for the infotainment system and I've had absolutely zero problems with. Once you get use to it, you don't even think about it. Thank you for sharing your experience. Enjoyed watching the video
I will be getting mine this Monday.. good to hear positive comments. Have driven Honda for last 10 years and all leased. This will be my first financed car so 🤞
@@rdbtumpy You are making a good choice. I bought the Meridian Edition in Zurcon Sand with the terracotta interior and get lots of compliments . Kind of strange for a normal day to day vehicle, but rewarding to hear.
@@rdbtumpyI have had my 2024 CX-50 since February…. 5,000 miles and absolutely love it still. I have 2 kids, plenty of room for them. Zero complaints so far.
Whats the difference between the Cx5 and cx50 interior
Thanks for being honest with your viewers, we all appreciate it.
I prefer the natural aspirated 2.5 four cylinder over the turbocharged.
I think the shifting jerkiness is due to the trans software learning/adaption algorithm, which I've experienced several times after 16k miles on my cx-50 turbo base: it primarily happens after a long episode of canyon driving or holding at low gear, and it goes away after some highway cruising.
I will also say I had the exact same problem with my 19 RAV4 and the dealership did something with the ECU and the software changed helped the habits of the car you're describing
The transmission is covered for 5 year and 60k miles.
Thank you. I should have known 😅
That rolling water container though 🫨😬
I've got 23 turbo premium and had the same shifting issues. Software update solved it at the dealer.
interesting i should reach out to my dealer and ask about update
You just need to do a reset of the Transmission adaptations. You can do it yourself, there’s a YT video guide. Fixed everything.
@@jubbalandcarsjust do a reset of the transmission adaptations, simple guide on YT
Is that a film on your center console to get rid of the piano black or actual replacement pieces? I've been looking to mod the center console to get that matte black finish.
We have a 23 Turbo Premium. Love how it drives and how it looks. We had a rattle on the passenger seat belt pillar. The dealer tried to fix it 3 times then they said it is common on these cars, so they gave up. Went to another dealer and they fixed it in one try. The has has 16k on the odometer. My main complaint is that the seat is just too hard for longer trips and the suspension could be a little softer which they fixed for the 24.
I thought your car got into a car crash from the thumbnail 💀
Same 😂
Click bait not bad
At first I was surprised, but it was worth the watch though, interesting video 😅
got a 2024 cx-50 tpp MRCC is very responsive to cars in front, both entering and exiting current lane. personally I would like less of a hard breaking and more of a distance gentle braking. have drive mazda since 1991 and this cx-50 is by far the best handling.
I really wish Mazda would make a Made in Japan Spirit Racing CX-30, basically like Mazda's take on the Kona N. I need the AWD and ground clearance for the winter but I would want to retain as much of the Mazda 3's handling as possible.
Did you wrap the gear selector area? Looks a lot better than piano black
You're gonna wear out any SUV using it for towing unless it's on a rare occasion. Keep the CX-50 and a buy a pick-up truck that has a motor and trans that were designed for hauling/towing.
OMG! That stupid metal water bottle was clanging around at every turn, how could that not bother you? 😡 LOL
😅 my b
Thats because you cant put any sizeable bottle in the cup holder.... its located directly AGAINST the dash and it blocks your controls.
Can you describe the symptoms of the lower control arm failure? I want to know if I have the same issue is there a specific sound you heard or a different response from the car steering?
Clunking and car pulling to the side briefly on braking
Mazda has its own character just you and driving pleasure without killing yourself
Heard they detuned the stearing due to complain of first gen to heavy
How did you cover up the piano black around the center console?
Matt vinyl wrap
I've owned my cx 5 for 2 years, and i have put over 70k miles mostly through offroading and road trips. Changing the tires from stock to AW/AT tires was the game changer.
The CX 5 is a proven design
Not sure I'm sold on a car that has these issues in the first 12 K.
Get the CX5 that’s the one made in Japan imo. Love mine after 8k miles.
Honestly, random stuff like that happens to ALOT of different makes and models of cars….as long as it’s covered under warranty, not really a problem. Mazda is rated as high as Honda and Subaru in reliability…
I juggled this car and a 3.3T G70, yeah I know very diff cars, I wanted to move from fun sporty cars to a nice SUV, somehow my dad convinced me to get the genesis instead, sometimes regret not getting the SUV because they've gone up in price since. still love my car, but looking for something more tame and more space.
Hello I’m a new subscriber and I own a 24, CX-50 that just turned 9,000 miles, that has developed an annoying rattle in the driver’s side front end. Is this what you experienced with the faulty control arm? I have at the dealership to locate the rattle as I’m writing this. It’s the second time to try and locate the issue. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I love to drive mine. I do notice the difference in power output between 85 octane fuel and 91.
Trigger warning: the water bottle clinking as it rolls back and forth.
🫠
I've been trying for months to decide whether to buy another Lexus or give Mazda the opportunity.
What are your genuine wants? Name brand or what meets your expectations?
That's an odd jump. I bought the CX-9 instead of an RX350 due to the value and dealership experience.
I'm thinking of getting one of these soon and also getting a small camper to pull with it. Is installing a trailer hitch afterwards as reliable as buying one with the hitch installed?
Do you think it would be a big mistake for me to trade in my GR86 for an upcoming CX-50 hybrid? As much as I love having fun in the GR86, I miss going snowboarding and it's so loud inside which becomes hard to live with when you're exhausted after work going home. It also gets tiring almost dying and getting stuck in the snow in the winter even with winter tires. Does the handling of the CX-50 compare at all to the GR86?
I have a GR86 too. Just keep and use the CX50 hybrid as a second car
HUD maps instructions work with Android Google maps as well... I recently bought a CX-5 and was torn between it and the CX-50, in Mexico the CX-50 was a lot more expensive, now that they lowered the price, feels like a good deal, but anyway, I got the CX-5 and don't regret it (CX-5 ruclips.net/video/IV4N6tspvSA/видео.html) (CX-50: ruclips.net/video/qhue0HmmxW4/видео.html)... my reviews are in Spanish of course. Man!!! people drive so slow in those bends hahaha
I also got the cx5. Didnt even try a cx50, but if I recall they were more money
Sunroof only opens six inches? Wuh?
Explain more in my other cx50 videos
Next time avoid the bottle on your passenger seat.
agreed
Nice video. I’m pushing my gf into this, with the NA engine. Since she’s coming from the 2012 Sonata. I drive a Supra, so the Turbo would be nice. Are there any issues with the turbo motor, do you think it’ll last?
It’s. Cx-50 or 2025 Subaru forester, or Bronco Sport
Haven’t heard of issues with turbo except for early first MY vehicles
@@jubbalandcars nice to know! We drove the NA today, enjoyed it
What color tints do you have?
25%
You can turn off adaptive cruise control in settings
It’s a useful function. Just not as well implemented
Take the CX-70 for a test drive when it arrives next month.
That’s the plan!
lol CX-70 is a big joke and instead get a CX-90
Watch check?
Mazda has to upgrade its technology package, what’s up with the 2025 Mazda cx-50 model sometimes the touchscreen works and other times you have to use the rotary dial , Kia products are blowing Mazda out of the water with their technology packages.
I got mine GT Turbo (Turbo premium US) 5 months ago (put 6.800 km - Canada I'll visit mazda next month).. only issue it's a little "crack" sound at stop sign in a little momentum when I floor I don't know if it's a wheel noise or not...
Any updates on suspension cracking noise?
@@AndyTN64 no.. seem's nothing serious.. I'll ask about it next time has only more 6000 km..
I'm already at 100k miles, no problems
Wow 100k.. which year is the make?
Agree love it Minus ACC which is madening
Great looking vehicle, but the seats are too hard. So we got the CX5. Happy with the CX5.
I think Mazda is missing the boat by not introducing a fun to drive cool wagon!!
The 3 hb turbo. Is basically the same vehicle just a hb and lighter
The amount of black cladding on this and the cx 30 is just insane. They ran out of paint.
I love the look of it. Super aggressive and rugged
utah life elevated plate?
Standard plate in Nevada/Vegas
My only complaints are: cabin noise and cheap paint.
Interesting cabin noise seemed quite good to me
Try this for transmission fix at low speeds ruclips.net/video/TxU0y1DqTUc/видео.htmlsi=kg2n4NqNr-Xc_uqu I did it myself and fixed my transmission hesitation. I also have a control arm bushing problem on my front passenger side doesn't seem to be as bad as yours is, but I am going to get that checked and replaced hopefully I have an appointment this month the 24th unfortunately had to move and live about 2 hrs away from closest dealer.
So I liked his thought pattern from his comments until he said he was going to go to a Beamer 5 after this Mazda. Hahaha.... obviously he has lots of money. A used Beamer is the epitome of the expression: "A Used Car is Somebody Else's Problem". Used Beamers are Moneypits, and at 60K they begin to fall apart, and everything is twice the cost of any other manufacturer! Of the top ten vehicles you DON'T want to be stuck with after 60K Miles, 3 of them are Stellantis (Chrylser Jeep), and 3 more are BMW ! NO Thanks.
Not necessarily… Wife has a 2017 Mini Countryman with the 1.5 three cylinder. Bought it new and now has 115k miles. Not a single issue so far (knock on wood). As long as maintenance is done on time, newer BMW stuff is pretty solid
Love it, is the comment that counts
Forgot to put the seatbelt on for his stupid and loud water bottle on the front passenger seat!
