This may seem like a small detail to some, a step back to others, but I LOVE the fact Mazda resisted the urge all other car manufacturers seem to have with making the instrument cluster and infotainment nothing but flat screens. Sure that may be the "modern" thing, but I vastly prefer the separate hooded instrument binnacle...regardless if it's analog or digital. Mazda is just all around catering to my personal tastes these days...and a big reason why my daily is a 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch.😉

My only complaint is it does not have lane assist like my old Honda Civic or other competitors. The lane assist works OK under 65KPH with good lanes. It is a nice change from Honda. There is a setting in the infotainment that controls how the door unlock functions. I have mine set to unlock all doors on the first press of the unlock button so that I don’t have to deal with the annoying situation you mention in the video. I also have it set to auto-lock when I walk away. That has sadly functioned pretty inconsistently on my CX-30, though… it doesn’t work right about 1/10 times, but at least with the Mazda app on my phone I get notified within a few minutes that my door is unlocked and I can then lock it remotely through the app. I just bought a 2024 CX-50, and I’m really hoping that it winds up being more consistent on that front.
That’s just to unlock before you go in the door for the first time but once you park your car turn it off and try to open the rear it will be locked regardless of the settings
Killer color combo! That interior is beautiful in that color. Incredible looks, and design. What kills it for me is the torsion beam rear. It’s so Un-Mazda. I also wish they would slim down the wheel arch cladding by at least 50 percent. I’m crossing my fingers for a Turbo Hybrid. ✌️
I have the same setup in my Mazda 3 turbo hatch and can honestly say you rarely notice it. The only time I'm reminded it's not independent rear is like going over a speed bump in a parking lot, or driving on one of those awful stretches of concrete pavement with expansion joints...but those aren't pleasant in any car. Other than that the handling is great, the lack of multi-link rear isn't noticed.

"Who buys a crossover for speed?" - Consider the sales of BMW, Audi and Porsche crossovers for your answer. Yes, there are people who do it. And it's not about top end speed, it's about that low end acceleration and passing power, BOTH of which are schweet to have in any car. Nobody except for the supremely cheap or those chasing the blue ribbon in fuel economy wants a gutless car. The correct skeptical "who buy a crossover for X" is either "family hauling utility" (get a minivan for god's sake if that's your priority) or HANDLING. If that's the priority, get a sport-sedan. If you want good handling FOR THE CLASS, then this is the ticket unless you want to spend 50-100% more. In the end, it's all about which set of tradeoffs and compromises make the most sense to each buyer.

I own one and have 10,000. on it. The dealer-10/10. I have the Bose "Premium" Stereo. It really really sucks. I just use my ear buds now. The most comfortable seats I have ever had(I am 5'1"). If you are small, test this one. It is fast but gas mileage goes DOWN big-time, if you are heavy on the pedal. The front door closes on me most of the time. It is a flaw and very frustrating. If you are not perfectly level or can't open it all the way-the door will spring shut hard. It has hurt my legs a couple of times already. Very frustrating. No rattles! I am getting 25mph overall-but I drive to work on highway on cruise at 65. The Cruise control is great-even in traffic. The lane keep is dangerous. Don't use it!!

How is the highway Road noise for passengers in rear seats in Mazda CX50 GT Non-Turbo in Canada, and in USA called CX50 Premium Plus Non-Turbo? How noise compares to Honda CRV Hybrid 2024?
Truth of the matter is, if you want to evaluate road noise between different vehicles, you gotta put the SAME tires on them, because the two biggest factors in road noise is the road (surprise, surprise) and then the tires, both of which are also wildly variable.
Can do you turn the radio OFF without losing the Mazda Connect screen? And does your audio still never really turn off? This is a weird thing about the CX-5.
I’ve owned three Mazdas with the latest version of the infotainment system over the course of five years, and this also annoyed the hell out of me the whole time. It was particularly aggravating with Sirius XM. I could hit the mute button, which pauses what’s playing… until the XM Replay buffer runs out, at which point it would suddenly resume playing at full volume! It wasn’t until literally two months ago that I discovered you can select “OFF” as an audio source and actually turn off audio altogether, while still being able to use the other infotainment functions.
@@krombopulousmichael3302 Thank you. I have seen this. But I simply want to turn the radio off and then back on without the last-played station coming on. And I think it might still resume your source when you turn the car back on? My workaround for a long time has just been to launch a music player like Spotify in CarPlay, play something briefly, then pause it. So I don’t know what my reliability will be, but I can tell you that I’ve heard of a lot of vehicles from different manufacturers having reliability problems with wireless CarPlay, so I don’t know that we can say this is a Mazda issue per se. I’ve also heard a lot of folks saying that the wireless charger in the CX-50 is weak and doesn’t work if you have any kind of case on the phone, so I imagine I’ll probably wind up using the wire most of the time anyway. My wired CarPlay experience in my current CX-30 has fortunately been pretty solid, minus a few weird bugs here and there that I can tell are definitely internal iOS issues. Those are usually fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the cable or sometimes, rebooting the phone… which is annoying and unsafe to do while driving, but what are ya gonna do…

Debating on the cx 5 or 50! I like both, but I was surprised to see the headroom and storage in the back are shorter and smaller in the 50 compared to the 5!! Some things to think about!!!
The cargo "area" of the CX-50 (rear seats up or down) is wider and a little bit longer than the CX-5, BUT the CX-5 is TALLER, enough so that the TOTAL cubic footage is greater than the CX-50. How often do you stack stuff to the roof? If you do so frequently, then the CX-5 is the ticket, otherwise the CX-50 will have more space where YOU generally use it.

I drove the CX-50 after it came out, thinking I might upgrade to it, but my 30 handled better and seats were more comfortable so stuck with the 30.
@@johnrobinson9974 yeah, the seats are ok at best. This is why we lease before we buy. At first she loved it, but now not so much. She wants to try out the CX-90 now😂
"Who buys a crossover for speed?" - Consider the sales of BMW, Audi and Porsche crossovers for your answer.
Not sure if this is in America but Terra Cotta is available without the turbo. I just seen one 19 mins ago lol
Was fully expecting a list of the "18 things" I should know. Was I supposed to keep reviewing your video to find them myself? Maybe the title should have been "18 Things You Should Know - You Itemize Them Yourself" !!!
I think you’re ok, keith
wait 11:55 mine never applied automatically parking brakes..
I’ve driven both CX 5 and CX 50 and cx50 rides better. I bought a 2025 cx50 turbo premium plus. Machine Gray very nice looking car. My friend has a 2023 CX 5.
Does it read the speed limit signs? Or is it in the navigation system?
It’s in the nav, it doesn’t read signs. You need the Mazda nav card
Mazda TSR system: ruclips.net/video/-LKcNICkGyY/видео.html
Does it have remote start?
Yes thru the app
What do you mean that the lane keep assist is dangerous? Can you give an example I’m curious. Also is the Bose premium audio really that bad?
You can set it to unlock all doors in the infotainment system
I have the CX-50 and the wireless charger does not work, went to dealership told me ya they’re having problems with the 50 and the 90 so guess I’m not using that!!!!!
It works but it has compatibility issues with the NFC technology on a lot of phones, not all, but still considerable. Consider turning off the NFC, which should be a click on your quick settings.
Also the Apple wireless CarPlay is very inconsistent. Even when the phone is plugged in Apple CarPlay doesn’t always work without a lot of button pressing.
@@jefft9729Yeah, I’d also like to be able to do what you’re describing, but sadly I haven’t figured out a way to do so. You can turn the entire infotainment system off-can’t recall how off the top of my head, I’m not with my car at the moment. But that turns off the clock and everything else, too. And I think it might still resume your source when you turn the car back on? My workaround for a long time has just been to launch a music player like Spotify in CarPlay, play something briefly, then pause it. This way the audio will work for other functions like maps, but shouldn’t auto-play or randomly resume at any point. Really silly that there’s not a more elegant way to do that, though.
As for wireless CarPlay reliability, I just purchased my first model (a 2024 CX-50) that has that feature, but it hasn’t arrived yet as it’s being shipped from out of state.

I’m condisering to get the Cx 50
Wish it had a "J" VIN and independent rear suspension.
It's strange that Mazda went with a torsion beam rear axle instead of a multi link suspension
@@markwilliams6378 Apparently a limitation of the platform which it shares with the CX-30. Both have torsion beam rear.
I've almost ripped the door off my cx-30 in frustration because of its inconsistent auto door lock/unlock/sometimes lock bs!!!
I think I may get this for my son. I'm wondering if the seat design is a problem with that strip in the center. Looks like a nice car 🚗
Owned one for 5 months now you don't notice it at all
Wow a $40,000 car for your son? I wish I was your son
Some people say it feels awkward in your bum but I've driven it many times now and I never feel anything, they're just comfy seats
Debating on the cx 5 or 50! I like both, but I was surprised to see the headroom and storage in the back are shorter and smaller in the 50 compared to the 5!! Some things to think about!!!
50! It’s more luxurious
@@JakeBayCity Got it and thanks!!!
@@johnsanford3596 I ended up with the CX 50 and I really like it! I much prefer having more elbow room! It’s just me and my boyfriend and he has his own vehicle…we have no kids here and no grandkids here or pets! We drive each other’s vehicles sometimes and he fits just fine at 6’1!!!
Sucks they have these in Australia 😭
No premium gas or turbo for me.
Sounds great!
Weird interior design. What's with that strange vent in the middle.
What color is this one?
Polymetal Grey, around $500 option.
I went to one showroom to test it, but unfortunately the sales person was so stubborn, he did not ask us to sit also not sure if it is because of our nationality as we are not amercians, he told us to check the features online, then he told gasoline is not there for test drive. We did not book appointment but this gave us very bad experience on mazda, will we be facing the same issues until we buy it fully, so thinking to go to Nissan rogue instead as the everything was so
Smooth, we were treated like human beings. Not sure how people are expecting that who dress brand clothes only can buy this type of cars. In my opinion, if you see our closets we have so much dresses when compared to normal amercians that why we dont go for branded things
We need cultural outfits, then office outfits, causal outfits..most of us have so much cultural outfits when compared to other nationalities. In our cultural outfits, we have atleast 3 types of outfit styles. so only we dont spend on casual outfits and buy non branded ones. I guess only name matters ..humanity sucks...
Yes...Mazda does a fine job with Their cars.........If They ever build a serious Electric, It'l be the best.......Don't care for any of the electrics now being offered..............Rivian RX3 comes close.............Paul
Aint nutn rugged about it
Rugged means more plastics.

Something about the proportions/styling looks off from various angles. Certain styling/materials decisions also give it somewhat of a budget look.
bring back the mazda5 minivan in an actual design and i buy another mazda
It would be awesome if they make this as an EV
Zaddy Likey
why u put a bottle in a cup holder?😆
I love using touch with Android Auto. That's how it's designed to be used.
Mazda likes to make touch difficult... So they've lost me.
Love the Look and as we know, Mazda drives great
