No Leaf Clover Is My all time favorite Metallica Song. It's Sweeping songs, and grand sounds with the San Francisco Orchestra is Amazing and Awe inspiring
Unforgiven 1: heavy verse, soft chorus, soft ending. Unforgiven 2: soft verse, heavy chorus, heavy end. Unforgiven 3: back to heavy verse, soft chorus, heavy & soft end. Geniuses creating a musical trilogy
Don’t mind those “fans” that are unable to see any kind of change and immediately reject it. Good music, is good music, and as any art is subjective to the perspective of any individual, so never tell anyone what’s good and what’s bad, each person makes that choice. I love old and new Metallica, my favorite band ever.
No one in metal has changed more than Opeth from their first album to their most recent and I love them all. Great bands change throughout their career and evolve. We "fans" just don't think Metallica produced music worth listening to after Justice.
I think that #1 albums in a row speak lots to the appeal of their music. But again, music is subjective. I think their first 5 are masterpieces from top to bottom, and the next have lots of awesome songs and some not as epic, but it doesn’t mean is. It worth listening. Everyone has their opinions, and that’s the way is going to be. I still enjoy all of their discography.
@@DannyRobalino Justin Beiber had #1 albums. Popularity doesn't equal good. They became predictable and lacked the raw emotion that made their initial music revolutionary, Hetfield's singing aside.
@@peeweekitt *We "fans" just don't think Metallica produced music worth listening to after Justice* sad that you "fans" are only stuck to one genre of music you use Opeth as an example because they didnt go to a "sellout/normie genre" like rock but im sure if they did you cry SELLOUT as well and it's good that you put "fans" in quotations since its you are barely fans of metallica, just fans of Edgy music. *They became predictable* ell me in 1996 that you predicted they would make Death magnetic and Hardwired after Load and St. Anger? I guess you have some kind future telling powers to predict that change. don't kid yourself buddy. *lacked the raw emotion* Now this is just OBJECTIVELY wrong in so many ways. Shredding and playing fast isnt the end all be all of emotion

2:10 Fail or not, I'm just stoked to see us get name dropped to the reaction of one of my favorite Metallica songs of all time!
@@gvfryguy hell yeah. He's only done it live twice (that I know of) and both times he sounds sad at the end. Probably a little too personal for his style
That's from the S&M album done in 99 (I think). It had a 100 man orchestra lead by Micheal Kamen who had previously done the orchestra in Nothing Else Matters. They were going to do a part 2 to the concert but Kamen passed the year they were gonna do it. Overall phenomenal album.
Lunatic Fringe they should still do it. Imagine a symphonic version of “Spit Out the Bone” or “The Day That Never Comes.” Who knows, they could even do “Fade to Black” or “Welcome Home”. I bet even “Some Kind of Monster” would sound twenty times better with a live orchestra (and an improv Kirk solo 😉)
Lunatic Fringe almost 100% correct on all the facts except they were never going to do a part 2. Lars n James said they already went through the entire catalog up until that point to find the right songs they would do for this concert
Big shout out to conductor Michael Kamen (RIP), who was the initiator for this and also made all the arrangements. Try 'Outlaw Torn' or 'Bleeding Me' of this album too!
Anything from this concert is just incredible, specifically Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, Nothing Else Matters, Call of Ktulu, ect.... They wrote No Leaf Clover and Minus Human specifically for this concert. The conductor is the same guy that did the orchestration that is in the album version of Nothing Else Matters. If you listen to Nothing Else Matters - Elevator Version, you really hear what Michael Kamen (RIP) wrote. It is a mini version of this concert.
My first Metallica show. I was 16. It was just an incredibly epic evening. I suggest listening to Call of Ktulu or even Hero of the Day from this show since those are both songs you've never reacted to. (At least as far as I can recall)
S&M is such a great album. It's one of my favorite Metallica albums and one of my favorite albums of all time. The contrast between the metal and symphony music is just absolutely beautiful. It's worth a listen or a watch from start to finish. The rendition of Master of Puppets and Battery they do are absolutely phenomenal in this album/show.
Definitely check out the whole show. The orchestration adds a whole new element to the songs, many classics with a new twist. Good stuff. Outlaw Torn and Bleeding Me are really good ones.
The entire S&M amazes me and i feel lucky to be alive to witness such an event. Michael Kamen did a wonderful job convincing Metallica to work together.
I love how you guys make me actually think about songs I otherwise wouldn't. No Leaf clover is just a brilliant song, that and nothing else matters are the best from the concert
I have seen many reactions and have been wanting to see this one for a long time, thank you so much and it is a highly underrated Album, this was originally released as a concert with a symphony
Nice to see you open your mind man. Just because it wasn’t a thrash metal album doesn’t mean it’s bad. If you appreciate music in general then you won’t follow the crowd. Talent is talent. Hopefully those who didn’t like some of their ‘90’s music will go back and re-evaluate now that they have grown up.
Bro, I love your reflection of how the lyrics got into you. You mostly don't expect that a metal rock band can be so deep and insightful about things are in life. The evolution of Metallica is represented here and its a true masterpiece of their impressive career. Only suitable for enriched ears. Great job.
MetallicA was one of many bands that did a symphony type album, but NO OTHER band could come close to the magic MetallicA made with this one. And Vin is correct about how MetallicA evolved the best of any other bands, and that is why I have loved MetallicA since the day I started listening to them when I was 8, I'm 40 now and I still love this band, thanks for reacting to this one.
God damnit S&M is good. I firmly believe this era was when Metallica were at their creative peak and when they were performing at their best. The old stuff is obviously great, the new stuff is good, and the band still puts on a fantastic show, but the Load/ReLoad/S&M era in the mid to late 90's was when they seemed to be most at home with their sound and sorry Rob, you rock, but Jason brought something to the stage that you just can't. Hands down the best live album of all time.
Just a calm laid back song. Well played. No chills down my spine. But the solo fitted well with the classical instruments on the background. Allegaeon - Grey matter mechanics or The Black Dahlia Murder - Nightbringers.
I was into SAVATAGE and to some extent NIGHTWISH when they were developing the Symphonic Sound. I was at this show in Berkeley with a friend of mine. The deep emotions flowing through the audience as these songs came together with the orchestra was incredible. It could have set a record for Goosebumps if the fans stood still long enough to be counted... this song being heard for the first time that night had hardcore METALLICA fans (like my friend) sobbing. Thank you for the Review. It brought me back, bigtime.
When the masses said I'm not listening to new Metallica..I being the rebel- was like I'm sooo listening to the new stuff ..just to buck the naysayers..I'm so glad I did too I didnt miss out on the great music.
The idea that a rock band performs live with a complete orchestra is a bold and creative one. The S&M album gets much hate from many fans, but it is a very good one. The Call of Ktulu version from S&M is not less epic than the RTL version, I strongly recommend you react to it. This one got won a grammy award back then.
that was the famed conductor Micheal Kamen and The San Francisco orceshtra...from the S&M double CD from back in the late ninty's or early 2000's...many of the older songs done during that one time concert they recorded live.. love you 2... merry christmas and happy hollidays
My dad showed me this song when I was kid I would watch him busting out prison style burpee pull-ups , now I can’t workout without my Metallica ! I am now 16 I was 4 at the time
After seattle 89, this is for me their greatest live performance. Kirk solos are on point, James sounds amazing. This is the first time he went to vocal lessons for this show. Scene everything sounds and looks so good!! Outlaw Thorn from same concert next please.Remembering this is the first live concert dvd i bought back in 1999.
This is one of my favorite Metallica songs, and I prefer their older stuff. As a kid growing up in the 90's, this song/album opened my mind to blending genres like this in way I never experienced before. Opening the door to listening to things like vitamin string quartet, and later.......Nightwish
Great reaction! I know you two already reacted to "Bleeding Me live at Woodstock" but I think you should react to Bleeding Me at the S&M concert. The whole symphony concert is truly amazing.
This entire concert is magical with them playing some of their biggest songs until that moment with the San Francisco Symphony and the last recording to feature Jason.
I love this reaction to No Leaf Clover. I loved classical music since I was ten years old. This album made it very easy for me to start listening to metal. I was 16 when this came out. I love love love this song. Could you do The Bee, by Amorphis?
This entire album is incredible. There exists today very FEW groups/bands that can take their music, collaborate with a symphony orchestra and in two days, playing live with no redo’s create this kind of brilliance. Kudos to Metallica AND the orchestra
there's another song that just as "no leaf clover" has been written specifically for this live with the orchestra called " - human", you should check that one out too
I agree with you guys. This song seems to be about someone rushing into things because it's such a good thing but they ignore the long term pitfalls. He knows it's too good to be true but, he looks only at the short term.

This album gave me a better appreciation for classical music, I always wondered how many classical music listeners got a better appreciation for rock after listening to this.
Thank you for this reaction, this song is one of my favorite metallica songs ever specially on lyrics, if you like this one you should try "Metallica_The Outlaw torn" from same show, s&m live performance of this song is awesome!
Hey VinAnd Sori! First we're going to talk about how much *the two of you are truly blessed to be together in more ways than most realize.* It's good for this planet ESPECIALLY AMERICA to witness how humans on earth are meant to be at peace with oneness...no hate, no greed, no envy, and no false pride. YOU'RE AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL COUPLE! :-) Secondly, we were the SEVEN hundredth thumbs up for this upload.... Lastly, we are pleasantly aware of the righteousness that the both of you as a pair use verbals referring to THE CREATOR as ALLAH & mention INSHALLAH when appropriate. :-) Thank you and GOD bless! *:-)*
So glad that people are doing reactions to the S&M album. This is my favor Metallica album since they had the entire backing orchestra. Just amazing stuff. I wish they would do another album like this but I doubt it will happens since the original conductor has passed away. But thanks for the reaction. Hopefully you’ll review more songs from this once in a lifetime event
The Black Dahlia Murder - The Window, The Lonely Deceased, Deathmask Devine, Abysmal, Closed Casket Requiem, I Will Return, Denounced Disgraced, Crucifed in Cruciform, Nocturnal, Funeral Thirst, Miscarriage, Dave Goes to Hollywood, Statutory Ape Moonlight Equilibrium. Please give any of those songs a listen.
As an obsessive Metallica fan late 90s early 2000s, this concert (S&M) and Cunning Stunts were the concert videos my mates and I watched all the time. You must watch The Call of Ktulu and The Outlaw Torn from this same concert. This is Metallica at the peak of their commercial powers.
I thought just like Vin back in 1999 when this album dropped. I didn't give it a chance and didn't even want to hear the two new live songs (No Leaf Clover and Minus Human) because they were "new Metallica". I did the same when the "I Disappear" single came out the following year. After I grew up and learned to think for myself I was stunned by how much I love all those songs. Now even Load and Reload are two of my favorite Metallica albums; I hold them in high regard just the older classics like Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets.
This is my all time favorite album because of the addition of the San Francisco SO. All their most epic songs made even more epic with the orchestra. Master of Puppets off this album is one of the greatest renditions ever. Also Call of Cthulu off this album too.
Yes! Please do all those MetallicA songs in a row haha. This is from the concert S & M (Symphony & MetallicA) it’s actually epic, the symphony add an added dimension to tallica songs you thought you knew, listen to S & M version of Master Of Puppets, it’s pretty special.
With your explanation I finally understand the meaning of this song. Great breakdown. Now, may I suggest you review more of the S&M concert. Cheers.
Do "Minus Human" next! That's the other one that was made specifically for S&M.
I agree. Possibly an album review...

This song was written specifically for the orchestra and it's so beautifully blended that I can't imagine hearing it without the orchestra.
It's awesome without it too, they did it recently and it was great! But yeah, it's just a totally different feel and atmosphere with the orchestra

Metallica - No Leaf Clover Lyrics (from genius . com)
And it feels right this time
On this crash course with the big time
Pay no mind to the distant thunder
New day fills his head with wonder, boy
Says it feels right this time
Turned it around and found the right line
Good day to be alive, Sir
Good day to be alive, he said
[Chorus]
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just the freight train coming your way
[Verse 2]
Doesn't it feel right like this
All the pieces fall to his wish
Sucker for that quick reward boy
Sucker for that quick reward they said
[Chorus]
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just the freight train coming your way
It's coming your way
It's coming your way
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just the freight train coming your way
It's about the music business screwing you
No Leaf Clover and Minus Human are so underated.
No Leaf Clover Is My all time favorite Metallica Song. It's Sweeping songs, and grand sounds with the San Francisco Orchestra is Amazing and Awe inspiring
Love the show. Some of the best vocals from James. Outlaw Torn and Bleeding Me are incredible.
MORE from this concert please. It is SO good!
They arranged “The Unforgiven” the same way. Heavy verses, light chorus.
Agree with everything you wrote, except for the last sentence which I disagree entirely.
@@peeweekitt *We "fans" just don't think Metallica produced music worth listening to after Justice*
sad that you "fans" are only stuck to one genre of music
you use Opeth as an example because they didnt go to a "sellout/normie genre" like rock but im sure if they did you cry SELLOUT as well
and it's good that you put "fans" in quotations since its you are barely fans of metallica, just fans of Edgy music.
*They became predictable*
ell me in 1996 that you predicted they would make Death magnetic and Hardwired after Load and St. Anger? I guess you have some kind future telling powers to predict that change.
don't kid yourself buddy.
*lacked the raw emotion*
Now this is just OBJECTIVELY wrong in so many ways. Shredding and playing fast isnt the end all be all of emotion
2:10 Fail or not, I'm just stoked to see us get name dropped to the reaction of one of my favorite Metallica songs of all time!
The song is literally about himself, and his fame, and yeah.... I can relate completely.
Try out Low man's lyric from Metallica
YEAHHH
yes! That would be awesome.
You just want to see both of them crying, don't you.
@@mfree80286 I do. Haha
I love this song but always after two weeks. Relaod is so underrated.
Mama said
yes, I love that track so much... it was a big part of my life for a while, after I found the "stone" waiting for me.
Absolutely!!!! This track, even if a bit country-fied has such deep lyrics, and the end you can almost hear the pain in James' voice.
@@gvfryguy hell yeah. He's only done it live twice (that I know of) and both times he sounds sad at the end. Probably a little too personal for his style
those delayed vocals with that instant cutoff hit's the hardest. type of thing to make you inhale after hearing it.
@@OneTrueVikingbard they should to To live is to die, one of the unforgiven and fade to black for sure
Imagine Metallica doing S&M versions of Orion and Fade To Black.
Lunatic Fringe almost 100% correct on all the facts except they were never going to do a part 2. Lars n James said they already went through the entire catalog up until that point to find the right songs they would do for this concert
@@stevehuang2612 oh OK. I thought that because Lars says "same time next year" at the very end of the album. But it is half jokingly so..
S&M is just so fricken epic. Call of the Ktulu, Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, Until It Sleeps. All so awesome
This whole S&M album is amazing
My first Metallica show. I was 16. It was just an incredibly epic evening. I suggest listening to Call of Ktulu or even Hero of the Day from this show since those are both songs you've never reacted to. (At least as far as I can recall)
SofaKingWhat00 wow, lucky you.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? so fucking lucky
Metal and Symphony orchestra together. Two of the most bad ass music styles ever. I love this so much when it happens. Righteous and wicked.
S&M was Genius !!! Cliff would love it I think this is the biggest tribute to his legacy because he loved classical music.
Definitely check out the whole show. The orchestration adds a whole new element to the songs, many classics with a new twist. Good stuff. Outlaw Torn and Bleeding Me are really good ones.
The Call of Ktulu is an epic masterpiece with the symphony
The entire S&M amazes me and i feel lucky to be alive to witness such an event. Michael Kamen did a wonderful job convincing Metallica to work together.
A lot of his lyrics reflect his struggle with alcohol and drugs. I'm so glad he found sobriety. 5 years for me this Dec 31. \m/
I love how you guys make me actually think about songs I otherwise wouldn't. No Leaf clover is just a brilliant song, that and nothing else matters are the best from the concert
Thank you so much for doing this song, THANK YOU!

“He lost his icon status when he left Metallica”.
Love this reaction! Love how much vin gets into it and dude you nail the fan base so much haha
There is plenty of great "new" Metallica
Yeah apparently "new" is anything after 1991. Crazy metal elitists.
I love the load album. I was 14 when it came out and their sound changed in that album. Heavy and lots of blues influences
@@jinzoslegions 5 albums before 1991, 5 albums after 1991, so yeah anything after 1991 is new.
@Rj Simas Pretty much yeah.
Rebel of Babylon (Beyond Magnetic)
I'm extremely acquainted with Metallica and metal in general, and No Leaf Clover is one of their best songs regardless of anything!
Yes to all! and to add something, Bob Rock is great great great producer, in my opinion the fifth member of the band.
Just a calm laid back song. Well played. No chills down my spine. But the solo fitted well with the classical instruments on the background. Allegaeon - Grey matter mechanics or The Black Dahlia Murder - Nightbringers.
Omg thank you for getting Metallica. They are the GOAT
I'm so glad you reviewed this. The S&M live album is their finest work
React to Metallica - Damage inc.
that was the famed conductor Micheal Kamen and The San Francisco orceshtra...from the S&M double CD from back in the late ninty's or early 2000's...many of the older songs done during that one time concert they recorded live.. love you 2... merry christmas and happy hollidays
Alice in Chains - Nutshell (unplugged)!!
worst song ever
One of my absolute favorite Metallica songs! This song is a Masterpiece!
My dad showed me this song when I was kid I would watch him busting out prison style burpee pull-ups , now I can’t workout without my Metallica ! I am now 16 I was 4 at the time
Thanks for the reaction!!
I love this song, always gets me pumped up
Bolt Thrower - When Cannons Fade
After seattle 89, this is for me their greatest live performance. Kirk solos are on point, James sounds amazing. This is the first time he went to vocal lessons for this show. Scene everything sounds and looks so good!! Outlaw Thorn from same concert next please.Remembering this is the first live concert dvd i bought back in 1999.
Awesome guys..finally got this one down. Need to do Pink Floyds On the Turning Away from the 1988 live version. Its amazing!
So excited to see this.... THANKS!!!
Low Man’s Lyric or Mama Said would be interesting reviews.
Also, still waiting for My Friend Of Misery.
That whole concert was amazing
This is one of my favorite Metallica songs, and I prefer their older stuff. As a kid growing up in the 90's, this song/album opened my mind to blending genres like this in way I never experienced before. Opening the door to listening to things like vitamin string quartet, and later.......Nightwish
Finally!!!!!!!!!! Yes! One of my fav song EVER!
Yeah! One of the best songs ever in history! Great reaction!
Great reaction! I know you two already reacted to "Bleeding Me live at Woodstock" but I think you should react to Bleeding Me at the S&M concert. The whole symphony concert is truly amazing.
iron maiden - flight of icarus
This entire concert is magical with them playing some of their biggest songs until that moment with the San Francisco Symphony and the last recording to feature Jason.
When Vin loves a song he is smiles giggles and movement
Absolutely love this song. It's freaking awesome
I love this reaction to No Leaf Clover.
I loved classical music since I was ten years old. This album made it very easy for me to start listening to metal. I was 16 when this came out. I love love love this song.
Could you do The Bee, by Amorphis?
Thank you guys !!
This entire album is incredible. There exists today very FEW groups/bands that can take their music, collaborate with a symphony orchestra and in two days, playing live with no redo’s create this kind of brilliance. Kudos to Metallica AND the orchestra
there's another song that just as "no leaf clover" has been written specifically for this live with the orchestra called " - human", you should check that one out too
Please do the metal classic: Accept- Balls to the Walls
I like the new and old metallica..I even like James hetfieds' screaming when he was a baby
Ohhh wow. This song was every day on TV Here in Germany when I was a Teenager. A great song and a awesome performance
Die hard old Metellica fan here, yet this is actually one of my faves by them! - Lisa
S&M was the greatest live performance ever. No other band could have sounded near as great as the Kings Metallica
I agree with you guys. This song seems to be about someone rushing into things because it's such a good thing but they ignore the long term pitfalls. He knows it's too good to be true but, he looks only at the short term.
OK you FINALLY got into Metallica S&M now you have to do the other new song from that album. Minus Human awesome song!

@@goodboyotone4092 DO you need Ritalin or something and are you referring to Jason? Wat does that have to do with them doing more from S&M?
northlander30 no leaf clover is just that good
S&M is one of my favs all time. Michael Kamen (who sadly died a couple of years later) arranged that beautifully. the orchestra gives the music some extra emotion, makes it even more powerful. thank god Metallica arent afraid of experimenting and trying out new stuff, otherwise this epic epic concert wouldve never happened. great reviews, keep it up. greetings from germany
Secondly, we were the SEVEN hundredth thumbs up for this upload....
Lastly, we are pleasantly aware of the righteousness that the both of you as a pair use verbals referring to THE CREATOR as ALLAH & mention INSHALLAH when appropriate. :-)
Thank you and GOD bless!
*:-)*
S&M 2 IS COMMING SOON
So glad that people are doing reactions to the S&M album. This is my favor Metallica album since they had the entire backing orchestra. Just amazing stuff. I wish they would do another album like this but I doubt it will happens since the original conductor has passed away. But thanks for the reaction. Hopefully you’ll review more songs from this once in a lifetime event
Best song in the world. Period. Chills everytime
Iron Maiden-Phanom of the Opera (live at the Rainbow or live at Ullevi, 2005)
I forgot how majestic this song is. Cheers
All the classics are on S&M and they're performed to perfection
This is my all time favorite album because of the addition of the San Francisco SO. All their most epic songs made even more epic with the orchestra. Master of Puppets off this album is one of the greatest renditions ever. Also Call of Cthulu off this album too.
My all time fav song of theirs. So good
Yes! Please do all those MetallicA songs in a row haha. This is from the concert S & M (Symphony & MetallicA) it’s actually epic, the symphony add an added dimension to tallica songs you thought you knew, listen to S & M version of Master Of Puppets, it’s pretty special.
One of my fave Metallica songs. Great job breaking in down you guys! New fan of your channel.
