You guy's seriously need to do Josie and the Pussycats! It's also got Rachel Leigh Cook in it and is about ladies in a band that gets launched into stardom and its hilarious! I think you guys would really like it, cuz it definitely has a cult following!
Something I feel is overlooked is that nobody in the movie thinks Laney is ugly. The reason Zack is hesitant to bet on Laney is because she's "scary and inaccessible." To be prom queen people have to like you, but Laney is so closed off she won't let anybody get to know her. I think that's what the real makeover is, learning to be vulnerable.

So I hear everybody talks about how Rachel Leigh Cook isn't ugly, which "DUH", she is gorgeous. But in the movie, I don't think anybody ever says she is ugly. It is her kind of antisocial personality and social status that they are talking about. It's not really about her becoming pretty it's about her gaining confidence in herself and opening up a little more.
Was about to comment this but you best me to it. Honestly most of the time it doesn't matter how pretty or not you are if you interact with people the way they might see as unfavorable. (It's also a reason the manic pixie dream girl stereotype character is also usually kind of a loner- not that it has any bearing to this movie, just an observation.)
She was in the music video for Young Dumb & Broke and even though it’s been like 4-5 years since it came out she’s over 40 and I swear she’s barely aged a day. She’s a total 🦊
The Movie Budz are indeed a wholesome duo. They’re spending some quality time watching movies that people may not have heard about. She’s All That is a 90s classic teen flick. Its got its iconic moments that somehow generated a cult following among movie audiences/movie goers. Coming of age films like this are just so easy to watch.
...Which they've admitted to and it's fine, just feels unknown here. Also it's wild to me as an old person that She's All That would be a movie people haven't heard about. Ouch, dude.
100%. If the best friend of a movie isn’t believable then the whole movie falls apart. Secondary characters are just as important to the writing because lot of the time, it’s their actions that affect the plot so their decisions need to be believable
Yes, the side characters are a lot more memorable than Zack or Laney (No shade to either Freddie or Rachael.) Special mention goes to Matthew Lillard as the wonderfully obnoxious, campy Brock Hudson. Lillard was one of the only decent things about "He's All That", in which he played the principal, and still stole every scene!
Freddie Prinze, Jr. was the height of late 90s teen drama. The consistent open mouth shots, looks of terror and exasperated breathing at all times…what a legend.
I think the reason they picked her was the fact that she would absolutely be against anything he suggested so I don’t think it was about looks. Like they know she is pretty but you also need her to want to change into a popular kid and he didn’t want the challenge of doing that.
@@Serenity113 & @Golden Age Of Dinosaurs ok, so I looked into this!! IKWYDLS was filmed in 1997, they met on this set. She's all that was made in 1999 and apparently they started dating in 2000 (according to google), so maybe some sparks flew when she was doing her cameo on SAT!!!
This movie is my guilty pleasure, and it brings a smile to my face whenever I hear "Kiss Me." It seems ludicrous that the stunning Rachael Leigh Cook could EVER be in need of a makeover, since she's obviously gorgeous. This was hilariously parodied in "Not Another Teen Movie."
Dule Hill, Preston, is a fantastic actor and I absolutely love him in the tv show Psych as well as the spinoff movies. Rachel Leigh Cook is also a recurring character in that show for a couple seasons. I definitely recommend the show. Also Matthew Lillard is also known for the Scream movie which I absolutely love and also recommend
Watching this has made me realize how much more language has been sanitized in teen movies nowadays. I really liked this movie and Drive Me Crazy with Adrien Grenier and Melissa Joan Heart. But o be honest Not Another Teen Movie really was a excellent parody of these teen movies, I watched it a ton.
An interesting thing about this film is it was filmed in same school they filmed Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a cameo roll in the school canteen scene. The song Kiss Me was also prominently fractured in Dawson's Creek as well.
I think Paul walkers character liked Lainey from the start but orchestrated the bet to expose Zach and be the good guy. i think he wanted her the whole time and wanted Zach to fall for her and be crushed that he stole her away. That probably would be him winning .

ME TOO! I'm so glad I'm not the only person who feels this way. As much as I love this movie for being the perfect teenage representation of social status and fitting in, so much of it makes me want to cry. Zack's whole entire.....thing brings up bad memories of guys who were interested in me and would not leave me alone after I said no. The same guys who didn't want to keep their hands to themselves and basically used me. That's the kind of vibe I get. A guy who won't take no for an answer and will basically criticize your entire human nature (regardless of their intention or regardless if what they say is true or not) and just keep bothering you after you say no and keep stomping all over your boundaries again and again until you give in. It's terrifying and there's no way this sort of thing would fly with today's society. Most parents would tell their daughters to stay far away from men like this and even pepper spray them.
„Shaggy“ might be my favourite part of this movie (especially the dance scene always gets me), apart from the very classic 90s romcom storyline that might be questionable but still so fun
I also liked how Gabrielle Union's character was nice to Lainey, knowing nothing of the bet. Even Zach's other friend was nice to her (when he really didn't have to be). Even popular kids have nice people. Sadly, I think it put Lainey's guard down a little, causing her to get ambushed by Taylor. Sigh. Love the sponsor today, btw 👑🌳
Props to good hard of hearing representation. You don’t always see kids with hearing aids and as a hard of hearing person, I love seeing almost any representation of that. Also, as a dorky kid and an outcast who got picked on and happened to wear hearing aids brings back some flashbacks.

So there was absolutely a guy that brought a blow-up doll to our junior Prom back in '97. (Brought the same doll a year later to the senior Prom.) He was one of the 'popular' guys and his girlfriend had dumped the week before. Pretty sure he bought it at Spencer's.
I recently saw an interview with Freddie and Michelle and she said she was spending so much time at the set visiting him, that they gave her a cameo lol. They’ve been married 20 years now!
The dancing sequence remains iconic. Also, there is a cutaway line that states that the dance team is on the floor … and, they had practiced those moves.
This and the horrendous remake He’s All That are a perfect example of clueless people reducing something decent to a formula. Rachel Lee Cook worked as both the nerdy girl and the hot chick. You can’t just shove a plastic male model in that role and expect the same impact. You can put a wig on someone like the Cobra Kai guy and give him fake scruffy clothes to wear and he’s still a walking ad for Calvin Klein cologne. Granted, there are other major problems with that sequel, but that’s the first one that sticks out. Want another? Freddie Prinze, even though his intentions weren’t entirely pure, still came off as somewhat likeable. This Tik Tok girl comes off like - well, a Tik Tok girl. Idk why I thought you guys had already done this movie but I jumped when I saw this in my notifications!! when I watched this movie for the first time I wasn't a big fan and didn't catch on to the little things (like you mentioned, Zach's sister saying "the new, not improved, but different: Laney Boggs"). But when I watched it again maybe a year ago I enjoyed it so much more. It's one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies ❤ I think the parodies of this movie in pop culture might've done some damage in how it was perceived, and like you said, it doesn't help that they were juggling themes a bit here. But I find it really earnest in how it depicts friendships. I love Laney and Zach's relationship and how it grew. loved watching it with you guys!!
Usher did say “it’s time for the dance, like we practiced” or something like that when the scene started. So they did learn the dance throughout the school year.
Guys, I discovered this channel only couple of weeks ago and I must say how glad I am. You guys are just incredible. Everything, your reactions, commentaries and movies that u choose to watch.
The hold Freddie Prinze Jr had on young me was strong AF 😂😂😂 what a dreamboat but can we celebrate that dance scene that Matthew Lillard does? It is glorious!
The high school that their filming at is where they shot buffy. So SMG was probably shooting a scene for Buffy and just wandered into this set to fill an extra requirement.
Yay!!! I love it when you do classics 🤗 I'd love to hear your opinions of "Love, Simon" its one of the few high school movies released in the last few years that has the charm of older teen movies.
This is true, female led is the main plan. That said, we’ll have to branch out a little bit over time, and I love that movie, so it’s likely it’ll be done at some point - Sam
Ah, my second favorite Freddie Prinze Jr movie. First being Down to You with Julia Stiles. Such a unique approach to a well-trod, kind of boring story concept. If you two haven’t seen it, I recommend it. The SMG cameo wasn’t planned. If I remember right, she popped over to visit Freddie on-set and the director asked her if she wanted to cameo. Freddie also encouraged the cameo, so she agreed. The reason it’s a silent cameo is because they would have had to pay her film appearance fee if she spoke on camera. Freddie is genuinely on the verge of tears during the “am I a bet?” scene. The director said in an interview that they filmed the scene and Freddie immediately broke down for 30 minutes. He was an absolute wreck. The director called him “emotionally overwrought.” When asked about his break down later, Freddie said “It’s been really difficult to get in this mindset. To understand why he thinks it’s fine to have feelings for her while he is using her. To understand how people like him, the people that made my life miserable because of things I couldn’t control, could not see how harmful their behavior is.” He was most likely referring to being bullied for being the child of someone who committed suicide and/or for his mixed ethnicity. Though he has mentioned in other interviews that he wasn’t a very popular kid and he was kind of the class punching bag because of his interests.
Ahh yes, the movie that made me cut my hair really short (for my usual hair length) in seventh grade because I was hoping I would look just like Laney after her Make-Over 😅 Yep, that didn’t work at all, short (or shorter) hair just doesn’t suit me 😁 End of story: I‘ve never let anyone cut my hair that short ever again 🤓 it’s definitely one of those movies that make me feel nostalgic though 🙌🏻
It's so funny because the amount of times I've seen Not Another Teen Movie I had thought I'd seen the actual movie before, but I realized I never have until now 😂They did a good job spoofing it,and it's interesting to see how many connections from that movie there really are to this one.I thought it was grossly exaggerated but it definitely wasn't 😂
I was wondering when you guys would watch this! It's not my favorite. But it's not bad either. Rachel Leigh Cook is very lovable in this movie. Freddie Prinze Jr. has some nice moments too. I think the ending is really cute too. I love it when you guys do rom coms!
You keep saying, “ The 90’s,” but the simple fact is that these movies/ stories represent the reality that networking and sharing the social cues has always been a huge part of society.
You guys have to watch Drop Dead Gorgeous. It's a black comedy/mockumentary/American cult classic. It also has 90 royalty Kirsten Dunst and Brittney Murphy in it.
I feel like as adults we re-watch the movies we watched as teens, we often catch things that we didn’t see then and go “oh, ya that’s messed up and messed me up” lol
I have not watched this full movie in quite awhile, but unless I am confusing it with another movie, I BELIEVE the “DJ” actually says right before the prom dance sequence that it is time to do the dance he taught them earlier. Now granted, they are still far more skilled than high schoolers would be with that level of last second choreography, but the movie knew it and tried to throw in a quick nod to the fact. Kind of like the makeover disclaimer. Lol.
Wow! I’m so happy you did She’s all that, I had the biggest crush on Rachael Leigh Cook back in the 90’s and this is my fave movie ❤️ Your comments cracks me up, love it 😎😎😎
This channel has really become one of my favorites to watch! She's All That is one of my favorite movies still! hoping you can do "Never Been Kissed" one day!
Yep, this movie was packed with big names! And is a solid movie with great characters. My fave Rachael Leigh Cook movie will always be Josie and the Pussycats! It's also packed with big names, is super campy, and is a blast. It holds up great and I still know all the words to every song 💛🌙🌟✨
I believe that this movie was being filmed at the same studio lot that Buffy was being filmed at and so she stopped by and cameo'd real quick. GOD! I love her.
this one, Bring It On, 10 Things, and Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore (I can't remember if you guys have watched that one but if not it's a classic) were on constant rotation in my childhood and I still quote them regularly.. I think what a lot of newer movies that try to unsuccessfully follow the same formulas as the classic 90s teen stuff forget is making the characters feel like human beings... there's been a few good ones in recent years (Love Simon, Edge of Seventeen, Booksmart) but that late 90s mid '00s period was definitely An Era for totally ridiculous but weird and heartfelt
It is amazing how movie genre era's come and then go never to be seen again. The latter 90's was such a special era of movies made specifically for a teen audience and filled with a cast list of the very essence of famous young star names of the time. This they did their best to make Rachel leigh Cook look plain but - short of tons of prosthetics on her don't think was ever possible especially back then the age she was to make her look different to the stunner she was. And that song Kiss me by Sixpence none the richer - that was literally everywhere for ages back then songs from a movie could make it even bigger prominence still and that was exactly what happened with that one.
I always look forward to y'all hilarious but wholesome reactions I hope you guys do Never Been Kissed or Ever After cause Drew Barrymore needs some love ❤️
I think Disney bought Miramax--I could be wrong though. And Matthew Lillard and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in a few things together. This, Scooby Doo, some sci-fi movie based off a video game whose name escapes me. Probably other stuff too. 😛 Edit to add: Oh! I think it was Wing Commander. Second Edits: Omigod--y'all are right. EVERYBODY was in this. The guy that said "On behalf of all black people, shut up"--that's Dule Hill. He was in like 10 seasons of Psych. And I think the friend (Gabrielle?) is the chick who played the rival cheer captain in Bring It On. Good gravy. And everybody looks so damned young!

Ikr ? I want them to react to all the classic 80s-90s movies in my opinion those are my favorite to watch
Usher did say “it’s time for the dance, like we practiced” or something like that when the scene started. So they did learn the dance throughout the school year.
Fun fact: M Night Shymalan ghost written the script
I think they are only doing female led movies. At least that’s what I am pretty sure they said a while ago.
This is true, female led is the main plan. That said, we’ll have to branch out a little bit over time, and I love that movie, so it’s likely it’ll be done at some point - Sam
@@themoviebud1988 can you guys react to a Taiwanese's coming of age film "Those years, the girl we went after together"
Another amazing video guys 😊 love taking a break and hanging out with you guys 😊
46:00 oh now you HAVE to watch Not Another Teen Movie! They literally call this out!
I don’t know why but this made me really want to see a commentary for Heathers
The woman in the picture of Lainey's mother is actress Bonnie Bedalia, Kieran Culkin's aunt.
omg I’ve seen this movie way too many times to count and just realizing that’s Lil Kim playing the other friend next to Gabriel Union @ 30:06
Foggy knew! LOVE THAT
Y’all brought up how Matthew Lillard plays Shaggy but also Freddie Prinze jr plays Fred
You guys have to watch Drop Dead Gorgeous. It's a black comedy/mockumentary/American cult classic. It also has 90 royalty Kirsten Dunst and Brittney Murphy in it.
Mom still cries whenever she sees a Tilt-a-Whirl or a fat lady in a tube top.
I feel like as adults we re-watch the movies we watched as teens, we often catch things that we didn’t see then and go “oh, ya that’s messed up and messed me up” lol
OMG THE WEIRD AL REFERENCE I LIVE FOR IT!!! Already so excited to watch the rest lol
Lol.
There is a line in the movie that Usher throws out where he mentions the dance club, which is meant to explain the choreographed dance.
Wow! I’m so happy you did She’s all that, I had the biggest crush on Rachael Leigh Cook back in the 90’s and this is my fave movie ❤️ Your comments cracks me up, love it 😎😎😎
I'm so glad you guys did this movie one of my faves also Matthew's dance is the best
This channel has really become one of my favorites to watch! She's All That is one of my favorite movies still! hoping you can do "Never Been Kissed" one day!
p.s. re: the beach being small, most beaches locals go to in CA are pretty small. :) Ensures the tourists don't find em.
That would be a great movie for them to react to! And they're in a band so they would have some extra insights!
I love your reactions! You are so funny and witty with the comments :D I think you should react to Ever After. I think you would enjoy it very much.
Ever after is one of my fave Cinderella adaptations
@@jaberjaws00 same!!
22:36....just wanted to point out the Milo Ventimiglia cameo in this....lol
There were so many iconic performances in this weird 90s teen "mess" - it amped up so many awesome careers.
My organs dont count!? WTF why an I chuckling this much over that?
Can I just say, I love so much you guys dropping the Weird Al reference.
And that song Kiss me by Sixpence none the richer - that was literally everywhere for ages back then songs from a movie could make it even bigger prominence still and that was exactly what happened with that one.
this explination of prom queen by zack at 7:51 reminds me of Geek Charming just gender flipped
I always look forward to y'all hilarious but wholesome reactions I hope you guys do Never Been Kissed or Ever After cause Drew Barrymore needs some love ❤️
Yes to both!!!!
I think Disney bought Miramax--I could be wrong though. And Matthew Lillard and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in a few things together. This, Scooby Doo, some sci-fi movie based off a video game whose name escapes me. Probably other stuff too. 😛
Edit to add: Oh!
Literally the best ad for a sponser ever haha you guys are so funny 😂
It was one of my fave 90s movies when I still in elementary school, but looking back at it make me realize they have stellar cast back then 🤨
If anyone ever says “you look so much better without your glasses on” I always reply “so do you”
That’s actually a thing people have said to you? - Sam
@@themoviebud1988 sadly yes 😂 people genuinely encourage me to not wear glasses when I need them to see. A man in his 60s said it to me at a bar I worked at as well which was just wild
@@laurajaynenolan2149 That's stupid. Some people really can't tell the difference between their opinion and a fact. They honestly think they're helping you, but they're actually just telling you to be what they want you to be lol - Sam
OMG now you guys should watch a walk to remember!
I appreciate the effort gone into your ad break🤣🤣
Thank you 😊 I did not think it’d get accepted when I was writing it 😂 - Sam
Another good one for you both to check out along these lines, is The Duff.
Def should watch Can’t Hardly Wait, my fav comfort movie. Has the same vibes as SAT(didn’t feel like writing it out 😂)
I think that 3/4th of the Scooby-Doo gang being in one movie was nice. This movie was incredible and the remake should never have been made.
God I love both of your energies, I hope this channel blows up!🙌🏾
I’m sorry, I can’t stop myself because I always notice it but at 18:57 that’s a HIDEOUS hair extensions LMAO
When they said they couldn't imagine Gabrielle Union being a bitch I coughed lmao. She has some movies where she is portrayed as the mean girl
She's that in general
I love me a Weird Al reference. Starting strong 😂
I just love your videos so much. You two are so funny and kind and you make even movies I'm not usually that into like the hunger games so much fun to watch. You're by far better than a lot of other reaction videos. Wish you guys the best and hope you keep growing
Thank you so much 😊 - Sam
I absolutely adore that Sam has Dallas Mavs merch- as a fan, I never except that but it’s awesome
Got that merch on a trip to see Dirk play his 20th season a couple years ago. Not a great year for the team, but my sister and I had a great time. He’s pretty much her hero so we made sure to see him play irl. The staff even ended up moving us courtside for our last game while there cause we had a sign saying we came all the way from Sydney 😋 - Sam
@@themoviebud1988 Oh my gosh_ that's so cool, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip!
I don’t know if you guys have watched this already, but I think you’d like The Craft
This is not my favorite movie, but I'll watch with my favorite reactors :)
Kevin Pollack is one of the best characters in this movie lol such an iconic one too and well worth the hype it got for the time period
MUST WATCH “THE CRAFT”
omg yes one of my favorite movies. I actually discover one of my fav songs from this movie (kiss me- sixpence none the richer)
You guys have to see not another teen movie
This movie came out 5 years after I was born and I spent so much of my pre teen years trying to learn that dance lol
Omg this movie is iconic the serial of Netflix don’t talk about 😭😌💕
