    Hello! Thanks for being one of the only reviewers for these products that isn't sponsored! I'm only sharing this because this is the only video where the goal seems to be to collect the most accurate information and I'd like to contribute. I emailed medicube because I was confused on which product actually used electroporation since it was the only modality referenced in the research they provide yet there's two products that have similar claims. This is what they told me "The penetration effect of Booster-Healer works with Electroporation. However, ATS, the technology of Airshot device is a similar way to help absorb cosmetics such as MTS(micro-needling)." So I came to the conclusion that the Booster-H was actually the main product using electroporation and the airshot was similar but not necessarily so geared towards product penetration like the Booster-H is, instead I feel the airshot is more about evening texture from the explanation on the product page. So I totally agree that the booster-H conceptually makes more sense as the product is present when the transient pores are created. I also believe I read that the strength of the pulse has to be like 10x more (1000v) than what is actually released by these products (100v) but I'll have to check again but I'm also excited for more products and therefore R&D to be done on this technology as it seems promising! Thanks again for providing a forum for ideas to be shared!

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE

      Theoretically it could be similar. One question I have though-does the electricity *damage* the peptides (if I used the device at the same time as product).
      I’m studying that now.
      It’s certainly intriguing to think we could apply peptides after and they’d penetrate. THAT has me interested (like droplette). 💜

    As always, great information. I love your research! I like this device! When I cosmetic needle, my face does get red. It doesn't stay red for a long time like medical microneedling but it does get irritated. I think everyone is different as far how the skin reacts.
    My concern is that because the skin isn't creating a wound like cosmetic needling does, then we would not be stimulating keratinocytes to release growth factors and promote upregulation of epidermal growth factors. (Skin science by Mira brought this to my attention) So you would not get those benefits. Correct??
    What I do like about this device is the different ways you can use the device. If you do not touch the face, you don't smell it burning. Also many people do not like to feel any stimulation on the skin. So, I like that there are options for a variety of people. Yes, one could argue if those channels are really still opening up if the device is not touching the skin. I'm hoping/assuming they have tested that. I don't know the research on that. But I love the idea that it is a device that most people could use due to the different types of application. All of the products that penetrate serums deeper into the skin, that I know of, stimulate the skin where you feel something and many people do not like that and I think this could be a great option.
    Although I know electroporation has been around, I still find this to a be an innovative device. It could be engineered a bit differently than other electroporation devices. I've tried others and they feel and work differently.
    It could be that if the serum is applied beforehand, the electricity may change the chemical makeup of certain ingredients which is why you need to apply the serum after.
    I like to use this twice a week and cosmetic needle 1 time a week.
    I read in the comments that there is some controversy with Medicube. The only controversy I know of was when Trina Beauty Beyond 40 thought she was getting a microcurrent device rather than EMS because Medicube stated it was microcurrent. (I understood her frustration) since I've been working with some Asian companies, I found that Japan, China, and Korea call EMS microcurrent. I don't think they do this to be shady but rather a difference in language. So far, I've been liking most that I've tried products. Not all, but most.
    Thanks Penny! ♥️🙏

    I got this device a few months ago. Personally I feel that it has helped my skin a lot. I’ve never had burned/singed skin. I smelled a little peach fuzz burning but it went away very quickly. My skin feels tighter (I’m assuming from the products being better absorbed) I can’t see any of the pores that we’re looking very loose/large on my nose around my nasolabial folds. That’s kinda big for me because it’s been an issue for me for awhile now. I enjoy using it, it’s a mild stimulation (mild zapping at times) that has not been painful whatsoever. I haven’t changed anything else since I started using the device, so I really think it’s actually from the device. My skin has been looking brighter overall, and my acne scars have been improving more quickly. I notice the day after I use it especially any acne scars on my face have lightened considerably. Overall I’m enjoying it and will continue to use it. I don’t have $$ to be getting facial procedures done regularly. I’m not the kind of person to continue using something if I believed it was causing damage to my skin in any way shape or form. I’ve only noticed positive changes over the course of a few months, I have moved up to level 3. I used level 1 every 3-4 days for a few weeks, then level 2 for a couple weeks, and finally used level 3 a few days ago. I haven’t had any burned skin, and no lingering pain/redness after. It’s always interesting to see more scientific information on the devices, but as for my experience I’m gonna stick with it because I believe it’s helping me.

      @@kaylabillings785 I do when I do it often enough, mind you I’m not sure if it’s the actual device or the skincare I’m using since the absorption is increased by like 432% (which is because of the device) I think good skincare is important with the device. Sometimes I use the Peach and Lilly snail mask after, I find it reduces any irritation (which usually there isn’t much at all) and really adds to the tightening brightening effect. ✨💕

May I ask if one was happy to use any of the options below for cosmetic needling, all at 0.25mm, in your opinion which one would offer better results for product penetration: a. Derma roll with 0.25mm needles (example Angel kiss) b. Derma pen with 36pin cartridge at 0.25mm c. Derma pen (example M8) with nano cartridge at 0.25mm? Is there any advantage in considering the stainless steel environ 0.1mm vs the above? Thank you so much and keep up the good work. x

    I have the air shot device and I got it about a 4 weeks ago. I’ve been doing it twice a week (which is what it says to do in the instructions manual) so I do it on Wednesday nights and Sunday nights. Upon using it for 4 weeks (8 times total) I have noticed a slight change to my pores. Having big pores due to sebaceous filaments on my nose and cheeks has always been a big concern to me. I had one pore on the top of my nose that definitely stood out more than the others. It was quite big and I noticed that now it’s about to same size as the other pores on my nose.
    I also noticed that the pores on my butterfly zone (cheek area) is smaller as well. I think what helps to enhance this device and get the most out of your buck is to be consistent with it, and also using a serum afterwards that helps with oil production and reducing pore size. I just started including retinoid (la roche posays adapalene) to my nighttime routine and I think that for sure helped in aiding my oil production, and by using this device it aids in helping to tighten up my pores!
    once a week I take a break from my retinol, and apply a BHA chemical exfoliator (cosrx BHA blackhead power liquid). My skin definitely feels less oily now as well, but I make sure to use a strong moisturizer so then I don’t start to peel from my retinol!
    (if you guys don’t use retinoid, I highly suggest doing so! A lot of dermatologists on RUclips SWEAR by it).
    final thoughts:
    I’m not sure if I’d recommend this device with active acne just because you do feel a little tiny pitch sometimes when using it. I’d say it feels like when you accidentally shock yourself when you touch a door knob 😂 but slightly less painful lol
    I only have clogged sebaceous filaments and blackheads here and there, no active pimples

    Excellent information, I have did a lot of research trying to find out the exact mechanism of action and found similiar to what you have found. Love that you found the large pore vs small pore information. I do not like the marketing at all, I do really like the device, however. I apply serum in sections. I will do my forehead, ,then immediately apply my serum. I have used copper peptides. Not anything thing like growth factors, till I use it more, I have used 1 month. And still evaluating it. I do believe (for me). It has helped with product penetration. Thanks again for your research!

    I use the Leaf for Electroproration and LOVE it for superficial penetration quickly - it does sometbing very similar to Rezenetate type devices. I also you a professional Electroproration device in clinic. I have a Microneedling pen with EP that I’ve used for several years. There you need to be far more careful as to what one penetrates because of the strength and depth. With the Leaf and this Medicube Booster the penetration is far more superficial. It’s like a lazy shallow cosmetic needle without needles. There is quite a lot of science behind EP. It’s far more effective than the expensive and often broken Droplettes I have. The burning is the plasma which honestly I don’t bother with

  • @patriciasodaro8670
    @patriciasodaro8670 2 года назад +4

    Having performed a number of IPLs on patients, the burning hair and mild erythema sound similar to what happens during and after an IPL. But I’m sure the energy is probably different. Do they indicate a level of joules delivered? Or possibly like the old Syneron Candela E-Matrix that would send fractionated and electrical energy to the epidermis in an effort to reduce mild acne scarring.

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  2 года назад +7

      It is that smell-yes!
      But no they don’t tell the joules, spot size, pulse width duration etc etc etc (although you’re exactly right, totally different energy, this is electricity vs broad band light of IPL). The lack of specifics make it hard to pin point much honestly (specific to this device). I should look up their 510k 🤦‍♀️ (not sure why I didn’t!!). I’ll let you know what I find!

    I clicked on this video to find out if there was an alternative to microneedling that was safe for deep skintones like mine. I appreciate that research that went into this video especially the education about Daltons! It's definitely useful information to have. However I won't be purchasing this device or any other that causes skin injury. The risk with microneedling ARE "a thing" for deep skin tones because we have reactive melanocytes. "Redness" for deep skin actually equals scarring and keloids. This chanel is a fantastic resource! Keep up the good work

    Some other results tested this device for 6 weeks, which means that you'd have to do an additional 4 weeks for comparable results. Some other youtubers have mentioned that this device may not be attractive to those who don't have large pores, as reducing their appearance is one of the device's marketing points.

      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  2 года назад +6

      Yes but I wouldn’t recommend this device regardless-I do not think burning skin/hair is good.
      Pore size can’t be changed. We can affect the way they look by clearing them so that they’re not distended but I don’t need a device for that.

      They are similar in their idea of penetrating products across the skin barrier but their methods are quite different.
      Droplette uses a pump system to propel micronized
      products across the barrier and this uses (if it works) electricity to open momentary pores allowing products in.
      But I totally see how you would draw similarities!

    So If the molecular weight of our serum has to be 500 or less daltons- collagen, hylaronic acid and growth factors do not penetrate at all? Unless applied after microneedling, because the skin can absorb up to 300% more? So around 150,000 daltons? Or are the molecules still too large/heavy? Trying to justify pricey PRP/growth factor spa sessions. Also, thank you for the videos and getting me into the science 🧪 🧬 of our skincare ♥️

    • @blackraven4756
      @blackraven4756 Год назад +3

      I doubt that micro needling allow penetration of products as the body’s response time to trauma is instant, it will block up and heal the microscopic hole in seconds. Unless you microneedle with the product already on, nothing happens. Probably 99% of skincare products does NOT penetrate the skin. There are far more research showing that electroporation does not work.
      The reason why people look better after sessions of any skincare is the bare massage and touch create relaxation, increased circulation, removal of excess lymph, and stimulate the skin and muscles. You can roll a rock or stick across your face and look better.
      I doubt that there’s any kind of “business” that lies more to their customers than skincare and makeup. People are gullible and it’s a complicated subject so few of us can ask the questions that need to be asked.

      I tried it. Literally burned my skin off my face in 2 places. I had oozing, scabs. Someone advised if I had LED to use it, it's supposed to aid in healing. I did, and thank goodness, I never scarred. Customer service wasn't very good either. I sent back within first 2 weeks of having it, but I didn't receive a full refund, they blocked my email address so i wasn't able to ask questions. Too many videos show absolutely no results, and I've seen some where the person was also burned. Not an ooh, I've got the setting too high, this removed the skin on setting 3. That's not too high of a setting. I also had no advanced warning. It just zapped me and I no longer had flesh there. Be warned if you proceed. 🤷‍♀️

    Hi there, this is kinda off topic but about micro needling. I micro needled my keloid scars and stretch marks on my body last night with a Dr. Pen A6. I started with the shortest needle but couldn’t feel much, and eventually worked up to the longest needle. It didn’t hurt at all, felt like a lot of vibration, almost felt nice. I was very surprised. I had 0 blood, except for a very small spot on my stretch marks. I used numbing cream on some scars but then realized it wasn’t needed because it didn’t hurt at all. I was kinda confused since I saw lots of blood in videos on micro-needling, and since I was on the longest needle (2.5 mm), I was expecting it to hurt more, so I’m wondering if I did something wrong? I also micro-needled for a good amount of time, making sure to go over the scars and stretch marks many times using light pressure. Today my skin feels totally normal like nothing happened, although the keloid scars were pretty red this morning, although it has now went down. Also had some swelling on only one area but it all went down. I’m wondering if I did it wrong, if there’s anyway to do that? The pen was working fine. I also used the 36 pin needles as recommended for stretch marks on Dr. Pens website if that matters. If anybody can let me know if I’m doing this right it would be super helpful! I don’t wanna wait another 4 weeks if nothing is happening since I did it wrong! Thanks :)
