*** AT 38 SECONDS I SHOW MYSELF NEEDLING, THERE IS SOME BLOOD. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT SKIP TO 54 SECONDS!
In todays video I am answering some of the most frequently asked questions regarding microneedling and dermarolling. If you are unable to make it to a professional to get this treatment and you are excited to try it be SAFE! Most important thing is safety:)
In the demo I am not trying to necessarily show you technique as much as I wanted you to see my skin reaction (some blood, pink skin and pin points). This is all normal when needling for collagen. When needling for product penetration (short needles) you will only see pink, and that is great. That pink should subside by the morning if you needle at night. If it doesn't, you might want to reassess your technique (too many passes etc).
I am going to list several things that are helpful to both microneedling and dermarolling, feel free to check them out.
    Products mentioned in this video:
Numbing Cream 5% Lidocaine (if you are doing .5mm numbing makes it MUCH more tolerable!!)

I absolutely LOVE this woman. Thank you Penny. I’m dermaroller but am looking at investing in a pen. I dermaroll once a week. I may have been doing double the amount of passes you recommended. 10 times each way which included vertical, horizontal, and diagonal , both left and right. I will definitely error you causation and do you box method with five passes. I appreciate the affordable and better way to sanitize my dermaroller. I am thrilled to have found you!

@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I just followed your video and used my Dr. Pen to needle my face, neck and chest for the first time. I have two questions. How does one determine that the cartridge is too dull to keep using, can I use a single cartridge to do my face, neck, chest, belly inner thighs and under arms all in one sitting? Or do the needles dull sooner than I can accomplish all of that? I've got a lot of body work to do where weight loss left behind slightly saggy skin. Second question, someone else raised this question- what if a person had skin cancer on their face and didn't know it and microneedled the area and then the rest of the face- would it spread the skin cancer to other areas?
My first treatment went very well thanks to your video! I didn't need numbing cream either, I kept the needle between.5 and .75 the entire time.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share these insights. I actually was using a .75 every 3 weeks for about 5 months now (I worked up to this needle starting with .25) and I have thought (recently) that my face looked a little puffy. Great idea to move it out a week. Never used a serum with Vitamin C (did once and it irritated) and I never use any foundation for at least 24 hours after & I sterilize, sterilize, sterilize.

Such GREAT information!!!! Thank you so much!! Every one of my questions answered!!!! I am getting a “vampire” needle procedure next month. I had Botox last month so I was concerned about the process being too much. You really laid my concerns to rest. Also, I have to go to work! I am getting the needle done 3 times with one month in between.. and I took 3 days off for each one. Now I am more relaxed knowing l could go out in public with a bit of coverage. I use mineral makeup so I am all set! This was very very good-and your calm and relaxed delivery was refreshing! You speak so clearly and don’t get off topic. Very very helpful and informative and interesting. I love your channel!

Thanks for a nice informational video, it's much appreciated! I am using the Derminator, and I like it very much. I'm still getting used to it, and I use it the first weekend of every month, the next time will be my 3rd session. I have it set at a needle length of .75. The directions for that device have you go in little circles, not in straight lines like I'm used to doing, so I think I may be going over some areas twice, because my circles aren't that tiny. I've also drawn a bit of blood - not much at all, just over my cheekbones. I want to say though that I like this instrument, it seems really well built, solidly constructed, and the owner of the company is very active and has good advice. I think she uses longer needles than I plan to use; I'm pretty happy where I'm at now. If I decide to nano-needle in between my major monthly needling, I'll probably use a manual roller at .25 or .3 if I can find .3. Thanks again, always a pleasure watching your videos.

I read that a .25 microneedle does not go deep enough to make your body create collagen but instead helps products to be absorbed. Is this true?

Thank you so soooo much for the information about how often you should microneedle when using 0.5mm and up.💜 I purchased professional derma rollers 0.25mm and 0.5mm. Thanks to you I now am going into this new anti-aging venture having a set plan that I can feel confident in how often I should be using each. My next step is going thru all my serums and other skincare products and reviewing each one's ingredients and then choosing which products will be a part of my aftercare routine. Thank youuuuu!!! 👏😘

This was AWESOME! I have a derma roller I think it’s .2 or .1? Anyhow - this answered so many of my questions and I’m thinking of getting a .5 for 1X/4-6 WKS.
Looking forward to rest of the series!

Because , some videos are showing way to deep needles, on a diy.
What i appreciate most of all , is the science you find,to support what you are telling.

I have just started dermarolling with a .5 needle. I was surprised to hear that you do it only once a month or 6 weekly intervals. I will be amending my routine immediately. I have been doing this every 4 days as recommended by a you tube tutorial. Thanks for the valuable advice. I will be looking at nano dermal rolling

MaryEllen After 60 hi my friend!!
You could get a .2 or .25 and do that every Sunday and on the 4th Sunday do .5. That way you could keep your routine and benefit your lips long and short term 😍

Thanks for the suggestion, Penn. I have a brand new 0.25, and will take your advice. I also use a derma roller on crown of my head. But, I use a 0.5, but wondering if a 1.0 might be better.

Perfect video for today. On Wed I went to my PS office for laser hair removal and my first ever microneedling. Omg. The forehead hurt so bad. The whole thing hurt. They even provided the option for me to purchase nitrous like they do at the dentist office. Was I glad I did. By night time I was in severe sunburn pain. And I have a very high pain tolerance. I kept HA on my face. Thursday I was out of pain just dry and tight feeling. Kept up with the HA. Today I look like I have broken blood vessels. My neck looks like I didn't have anything done to it. I will keep up with HA today and not use any makeup. I sure hope I look better tomorrow. They have scheduled another one in a month. My question is why does it feel like this machine is pounding your face in? I came off the table when she did my nose
But I have had a broken nose in the past. I will say I am simply amazed to see the needle punch but the pores are gone. I mean gone. Really enjoyed this today Penn. Have a great weekend!!
