The Moody Blues define musical perfection as far as human capacity can venture. They have no peers. They stand alone as icons in the genre. Their music touches the most intimate parts of the heart, mind, and soul. They have touched my life in a very real and profound way no other artist ever has. They have an annointing from the Lord on their vast intelligence and abilities. It's lamentable that classic talent and artistic ability have gone down the drain.
I see that you posted this 13 years ago. You have put into words exactly what I have thought since they re-emerged in 1967. I remember my friend (now a brother-in-law) how they changed from the 1964-1965 hip hop music. Justin and John brought out the best of the best. I often think how sometimes a hand reaches down from heaven and from there on, never heaven or earth are ever the same again. You have my vot!
@@MoodyJill I've been "on the journey" since DOFP (fifty seven years and counting). Today I've come across your videos on a bunch of tracks. Quite excellent. Thank you for the videos. Thank you Moody Blues for the concerts and the music. "The last whispered wish of age is to live it all again". Oh, how I wish.❤
What a wonderful song this is. Why can't the songs of today be as melodic as this? Great melody is a major reason that the Moody Blues are one of my favourite bands
You really missed out but at least you love them and that's what they would all have you know, those that sadly passed and those still living, seen them 4 times in my wonderful up and down life, their music literally saved my sanity many times, saved a lot of money on therapy. Blessings my friend!!🙌💯❤
I used to sing along to this to get my oldest daughter to sleep when she was a baby - such a lovely song, and much better than the traditional lullabies. I just played this and she remembers it ........ I don't think I've played it with her in the room since she was a baby - she's 21 in a few weeks!
Thank you for all the music. The Moody Blues they were my wife and mine favorite band. I lost my wife in February. Now all Of these songs have a deepest appreciation for them
This song is like an old friend to me. I was going through some very hard times in the early 90s and this song was like taking a spoon full of good medicine. I always felt a bit better after listening to it. I drove my kids crazy with the Moody Blues. They probably know the lyrics by heart now though and they are almost the age I was when we listened to this in my car... :)
Such a great song and awesome pictures. Justin you have a beautiful voice and it sounds great in this song. Thanks Justin Hayward and the Moody blues you are still great to listen to.
Forgotin Smash hit for the Moody Blues its sad to think there are only 2 members left but the Moody Blues keep going Strong Justin and John Recorded an Alebm called Blue Jays now the Blue Jays are all thats left and I shared a Birthday with the Late Graem Edge there Drumer for all those years March 30th
Oh Justin, you give me chill's, everytime you sing... I feel your feeling's of love, beauty of each and every day. The sun that touche's my face, make's me feel so warm and lovely inside.... You inspire me everyday. I write ✍️ POETRY, it take's me to the beauty of life and love... Thank You, Justin..🥀🥀🥀🥀..2022..
They have been very influential and have touched so many others with their incredible talent. Speaking with a message of true light and love teaching unity and peace. The beautiful sounds they created were other worldly heavenly you might say it was a great honor to have been exposed to them. Having the opportunity to learn many insightful messages from their works. I only wish I could have said to them personally all this they truly deserve it. I am thankful for them I hope they enjoyed the journey. And they know how greatly they have helped to influence positive changes. Many blessings upon you and the power of love grow even greater still.
I recently dug through my pops old Records and found all the albums all the way to octave. I was so exited! I have owned em all on CD for a while now. but something about having the original is just too awesome! I'll always have the moody blues at the very top of my favorite list, I'm 23 years old and they are one of my greatest influences.
Why Justin & Ray didn't write more together over the years mystifies me. When the 2 combine their talent, their collaboration simply said is magic..Awesome tune. Brings tears to my eyes.
Likewise. I've always thought that Justin Hayward and Ray Thomas did INCREDIBLE work together. And like you, I'm also mystified that they didn't spend more collaborative time in the studio. I can only dream of the magnificent material that they could and should have composed. They were and still are my favorite band. They touch something deep in the human heart, mind, and soul. This track still makes me cry -- not a manly thing to say, but it's true.
@Mark Rymanowski Sorry for your pain. I understand hurt and betrayal myself. Music is like that comforting, secure blanket that covers us when we need a sympathetic ear of compassion or something to wipe our tears on.
@Mark Rymanowski Thanks Mark. In the years I've been listening to and playing that song repeatedly, I've NEVER thought of interpret that song that way. Extremely insightful. I have some knowledge in my soul; that's wisdom. Most of my knowledge is in my intellect. I try, not always successfully, to fill my soul with love. For me it drives away the hurt and pain. This way I'm not reprocessing past hurts and pains. I try to eliminate that from my thought processes. No alcohol and drugs is great! Sometime, somewhere, somehow I must "learn to forget the memories that cause you pain". For me, that's burying the past once and for all. There's a great deal of forgiveness and unforgiveness that I must contend with. Keep making strides forward, Mark. It sounds like you've come a long way. NEVER fall to discouragement. You can do it.
Great job, Jill. This song continues climbing the ladder of my all-time personal favorite Moody's songs - the older I get, the higher it goes, and is now very near the top. I too wish they would do this one in concert again. Thanks again, Jill, for posting this.
Thanks for creating and posting this song, sung by Justin, but co authored by Ray Thomas and Justin. I always wish they sang this in duo - one singing the first verse, the other the second, and then culminating with the two together.
I am mystified after all these years since I fell in love with the Moodies that not a day goes by without listening to their wonderful creations on you-tube or in my auto. I, like many other Moody fans wish that Ray was still touring with them and composing great songs with Justin. Ray, I hope that you read all these postings and maybe in the near future you will come back to us. Thought it would happen on the 50th anniversary tour but sadly it has not. We miss you Ray!
I think all we Moodys fans should send Justin a list of songs (like this one) that are not performed in concert...such as Candle of Life, The Actor, Watching and Waiting (my favorite).....the list can go on and on... R.I.P. Ray...we all miss you.
I will add a song to the suggestion list: "Cities". I don't know if Justin's opinion on the subject has improved over the last half century, but the song is both good poetry and a wonderful exhibition of Justin's voice in low register.
I found t❤his after I lost most of the use of one of my legs - learning that even though life may throw you a curve, there are still signs life has wonder in the simplest of things….

Probably could not do this if I were an "employee", you think? Love working from the comfort and privacy of my own home.
No band or group has ever replaced the Moody Blues in my life. Been listening to them for over 40 years.

Makes us feel old, doesn't it, Jerrold?! Thank you for your comment.

Nicely put.
No matter how many times I listen to this awesome song...I still get chills at that last note
It's so cool the way that the slide guitar arcs up like a rainbow!
This song is a treasure that fills the soul with wonder, joy, and sorrow that can't be defined, only felt.

The terms that describe the Moody Blues, and first come to mind, are class and culture.
Moody Jill is at it again with her wonderful "compositions". Keep them coming Jill!

@Mark Rymanowski There's a quality to music that sidesteps the human intellect (essentially speaking) and goes straight to the heart.

Unfortunately, this one is no longer possible. Ray's vocals are no longer available (and would be essential; John's wouldn't work here).
