Perhaps you could try to save said matron who in a form of gratitude would assist in a random role after being given a normal kanohi mask.
I’ve always thought the concept of a true animal-machine hybrid species fascinating, and should be explored more in fiction. The Matoran, (& bionicle as a whole) where an interesting introduction.
Here’s an idea: You should talk about how the biology of the different creatures of the Matoran Universe works and what creatures are purely machine, purely organic, and biomechanoids. It’s sad that Bionicle doesn’t get the recognition for cool lore and great story telling because it’s a toy line, and that Lego doesn’t give it the respect it deserves even though it saved them from bankruptcy.
My favorites are the Onu matoran, probably because Onua and Nuparu are some of my favorite characters. That is why I chose earth as the element of my self moc
My personal favorite are the Su-Matoran, and the Av-Matoran, seeing as my selfmoc is a toa that has 2 minds(due to being fused together with a toa of plasma) and also I might be releasing his revamped version on my YT, with a new ORIGINAL custom torso. I just love Su-Matoran over the others though, because their elemental abilities are so cool. (see some representation of the element plasma in the digital comic Date Night)
Yes they are cyborg, and so are the toa. Actually every creature inside the great spirit robot is cyborg I think except maybe the makuta because the makuta are made of energized protodermus. They're like living energy gas and robot, but everything else is a cybernetic organism. I thought this was public knowledge as soon as like year 3 released.

My favorite matoran type is Fe-Matoran. Largely because they look cool.
