You're probably the first reviewer I've seen who likes Hugo. Other people I've seen review this game half of them complained about him being annoying or just a hindrance but that's the whole point. Hugo is just a child, a very young child and the way he acts in the game is the way children his age act. He's not going to understand the weight of the situation because he's a child he won't understand and only until he's out in the world with Amicia and their friends does he realize he can't act like a spoiled brat anymore and he can't hang onto his mother and sister. Those who say Hugo was just annoying should actually take time to be around a child his age and watch how curious they are about the world.
People seem to forget how sweet of a kid Hugo was, even if he had his moments. The whole “Hugo’s herbarium” thing was wholesome af and him giving them to Amicia is easily the most awe-worthy moment in a game I’ve experienced in a long time. All he wanted was to find his mother, yes he made bad choices because of that but he’s literally 5 years old. He’s not supposed to be making good decisions lol.
something i really like is Amicia’s really subtle development around killing. she really slowly and subtly grows from being scared and regretful after killing to almost liking it and calling them names and belie being they deserve it.
I love that you did a video on this game. It was my favourite game of that year and one of my personal favourites because of the experience. I can totally forgive the limitation of the studio and game because of the positives of the characters, atmosphere, gameplay and score outweigh the bad for me. Whenever I'm bored I replay the game.
I wish more game developers would use this style of game (meaning story-focused cutscene-heavy games with good character building and progression) for their concepts. As well as having more realistic combat like The Last Of Us 1+2. Just imagine the great games with those elements that could be produced, like Sons of Anarchy or The Walking Dead!
The moment when they're crossing the battlefield and she has to push the rats towards the guy who's locked up to make their way out... really is one of those shifts in the game for me, and it's such an understated movement.
I first found this game through someone making up a song about how badly she wanted Hugo dead, and I got so intrigued that I tracked down her entire gameplay of both games. Best decision I could have made. I bought the game after watching 20-30 minutes of her play. It’s definitely one of my favorite games. Bonus: the way Hugo moves when crouching is just so adorable. That, and the flower collectibles made my time playing so much fun.
I really appreciate this game. On one hand I hate this game, because it is so unsettling and disgusting as I have a phobia of rats. But on the other it's an ambitious title made by a smaller studio and I really respect what they were trying, and mostly succeeding with this game, albeit with a few faculties here and there.
BTW what they did with the rats from what I've heard is that it's essentially using a particle system used for stuff like rain, snow and dust. Except instead of rain and falling snow it's rats
In the mission where u return to the manor if u kill none of the soldiers u get a achievement for not being vengefull. I got it because i didnt want to wast the ammo
you not being smitten by this game i wonder what you'd think of We Happy Few. it's one of the games i adore everything about and hearing little pieces of music or certain words in other games instantly makes me smile and nostalgically makes me wanna replay it, on top of replaying it yearly like the Arkham Games. the game might not suit your gaming style either from a gameplay point or story-wise, as apparently it's divisive (though i believe it divided the player base because of the pricing and expectations people had of it after playing early access), but if you do happen to ever try it out and find it enjoyable it would warm my heart to hear what you have to say about it.
Exactly. I gave it five minutes in English before I decided to switch to French audio with English subtitles, and never regretted it for the rest of the game. Can't say what the English audio is like in the more intense parts of the game, but if it's anything like in the games opening, then French audio is definitely the way to go.

You can save him
Please do requiem. It did everything this game did well better, and turned out to be an actual all around master piece

Nobody tell Vitalis about blood types.
It's even better if you play with French audio & english subtitles - immersive!
Great video. I may have enjoyed this game/story a hair more than you but it’s still fun seeing someone appreciate it

13:17 The Last of Us, God of War, Red Dead Redemption, Spiderman. So many more
I watched Ray Narvaez Jr play this game, and I loved it.
That's some strong ribbon if stayed up from when her Dad was courting her Mom.

Medieval Last of Us

This was my first platinum for ps4
I can't wait for the sequel
The rats returning and now attacking during the day its just awesome!
9:40 Excuse me, but please take a look at Vermintide 2 as it is full of rats. ( And Heretics)
Waiting for ur take on the sequel. Goty material, for visuals and story.
It's a lot more authentic when you listen to it in French
Right!? I did that on my recent play through and I can't think to play it any other way.

Now play requiem, I enjoyed this video so much
Anyone getting any 'Willard' vibes from this game?
I know this is the first time I've heard of this game, but that's what I got from it.
GamingWins I need you to do The Walking Dead.
