In case it wasn't clear, the game is $45 on Steam and $49.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. Thank you all for watching! I love you all! LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE VIDEO!
After playing Hellblade I've become keen on trying out and supporting any passionate AA game, smaller studios need to get more of a chance in the often corrupted industry
I agree. This industrie gets more and more unsympathetic every day and we need to support such developers. Where money is, there are rats. A lot of rats.
This looks like the most original game I’ve seen in awhile. That’s such an obscure idea for a game but it’s such a good one to use rats like that with real history behind it. I love games like this and I’m definitely giving it a try. Thanks for showing us this, I’ve heard nothing about it before this.
Finished it today and I simply loved it from start to finish. This game is such refreshing one in a sea of average run of the mill copy cat AAA Games. Gotta give the devs and Focus Home Interactive major props for keeping the AA gaming alive, because HERE (and in the indie space) is where we will get games such as these, because no one in the AAA space cares about single players experiences anymore and everything has to be a freaking GAAS game.
It’s absolutely insane how an AA game has a lot better graphics and optimization than odyssey. I have 50fps in Odyssey and it looks nowhere near as good as this game I consistently have over 100 in
Just completed the game. It was an incredible journey from start to finish. Loved the stealth mixed with puzzles within the level design. I’m now playing through Requiem.
It's funny how people complain about the game having minimal and hand-holding gameplay, while there are a lof of other games on the market that do the same, and they are high praised. I got the game yesterday and already sunk 5 hours into it. I can confirm the devs put so much love into this small title. It''s really unfair to bash the game, because it has a very detailed world, stunning graphics and good story. Those are more than enough to make up for the gameplay and I don't even think the gameplay is bad. I don't usually play games like these because I value gameplay the most, but A Plague Tale is one of the exceptions.
I’m not gonna lie I got emotional when I saw you posted a video about this game! Omg this was a beautiful experience except the rats lol but seriously 40 people did this game and they put so much love into it, the story was good the game play and the kids! Ugh I just wanted to protect them the entire time.
I am actually impressed the developers adressed almost any of your critiques and worked on it for the second game. My favourite thing in Requiem is maybe that the game actually encourages your playstyle and give you feats according to it
Ok, I was looking to get this title as soon as it launched its page on steam. Thanks for the video, I am taking the leap of faith, the overview you provided is enough for me to take a risk. Thanks for the video, and thanks for giving a different style a chance for visibility, I personally miss these kinds of games.
Thanks a lot Luke, I actually discovered this game only because of your poll that you did few days back. (P.S - Yeah it has flaws, but it's nevertheless a experience worth having)
I’ve heard about this game before, but nerver gave it a second thought. This video convinced me to try it out. After playing it all day today I was definetly not disapointed. Thank you Luke for swaying my opinion with this review.
Hey Luke I dont usually comment on youtube videos but I just wanted to say great work as always! Your one of the few people on youtube that actually gets the facts right behind financials in gaming, while still providing the best content on single player narrative games.
I find that I value your opinion of games quite a lot, so it's a pleasant surprise to see a review like this come out! I'm genuinely thinking of buying this game simply because you liked it so much! I hope to see more reviews, like this one, in the future! Thank you for being so awesome!
I certainly agree that I and others definitely enjoy an occasional shorter video that only scratches the surface of a game's design and narrative, as for its convenience. moreover, it helps us avoid spoilers when deciding if a game is worth playing/buying which is not unhelpful. Thank you for the video, even if you decide to curtail these videos in the future
Yes, I'd definitely like to see more reviews from you. It was very good. Length, opinions and important information were well balanced. Maybe I could only get to know the gameplay and story better. Not the spoilers but I feel I have no idea what kind of storytelling to expect from this game. Is there any more story than in new RAGE? Or is it more of some puzzle/action game? I'm not sure yet.
I'm excited to play this. I'm getting it today. With all the hand-holding it reminds me of "ICO" but with a different plot & setting. When the full "Praey For The Gods" game gets released I hope it's as polished as this game appears to be. Same holds true for the eventual physical release of "Vane".
I changed the audio language to French (with English sub), because I thought that that was the way the developers intended to make the game. Didn’t notice any lip sync issues. Great review btw.
I didn't know your channel, but I'm glad I found it through this review. Really solid, ballanced and in-depth enough review, extremelly more informative and knowledgeable than the lazy crap reviews of mainstream media I've seen so far about this game. And you're 100% right, Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice is my favorite non-AAA game this generation, and as soon as I watched the first trailer for this I wanted to check it out, so it's great to hear from you and many other critics on RUclips, that it is something that I'll most likely enjoy and it is definitely the kind of effort I want to support in this industry. So I just bought it, can't wait to play it.
just finished on pc. impressive game. very epic feel to it. Hugos eyes are soooo real looking like he really has a soul. the rat animations are impressive im wondering how asobo did that. all the rats do different animations and looks like real rats would. great soundtrack too
I'm so glad this game is getting positive reviews. It just sort of appeared on my Steam recommended out of nowhere and it looked good. I'd have thought I'd have seen some marketing for it before. I definitely think I'll get it, but it's £40 here in the UK, which is pushing it a bit. I want to support smaller studios who produce great, bullshit-free games (loot boxes, etc. can die a death as far as I'm concerned) that have been given due care and attention. That said, the Steam summer sale is likely to hit in a month or two so I'll probably wait until it's slightly discounted.
I loved Hellblade, like narrative focused games and when I saw the early previews of this I got excited about it. Purchased it, and feel as a story experience is so great. Love the characters and the visual story telling. I AM KEEN TO HEAR MORE REVIEWS, I think you would give the big boys a run for their money. You got a charm and style all your own Luke. Run with it for a bit and see....
I'm French and the French voices in AC Unity were ATROCIOUS... like most French dubs unfortunately. I tried playing the game in French because it made more sense but i had to stop and change to English because i couldn't stand how wooden the voices were. Only psoitive thing was the people in the streets speaking French.
Great review, Luke! But you kind of "spoiled" that the story was great when you said a long-winded critique of the game was coming. ;) Otherwise, I had never heard of the game before and will most likely buy it at some point! Good job!
so i should keep trying to give it a chance then? watched rad brad play a bit of the beginning and not much was grasping me as much as i was open for it too mainly for the AI system of the guards you mentioned. But if there is a good story sewn through out it i might just have to treat it as a interactive movie more than a game.
Just bought it today. Chose it over Assassins Creed Valhalla among others. I wanted this game more than any other anyway and I'm glad the store had a copy. I put my faith in it that it would be amazing. I'm tired of how games are not unique anymore and this fit the bill for something special.
For your critique, do replay it in French with english subtitles to appreciate better voice over, acting, lip sync and immersion, it's set in France after all.
Luke you should try out kingdom come deliverance man I just bought it and am seriously hooked. I know you like games set in medieval times like me so I think you’d like kingdom come!! Would love to see a critique review with your thoughts on it
BS Player so far I haven’t ran into anything but I have heard that back in the day on launch it was super buggy but I think they’ve patched most bugs man. I just finished the opening intro part of the game so I’m not too far in to know if it still has a lot of bugs
I enjoyed the game immensely but I think the big flaw of the game is the overt linearity. Often times, there is only one answer to go through a given stealth section. Which breaks immersion. The game doesn't have to go full Thief (1998) or Deus Ex but it could really learn a lot from the Styx series, which is coincidentally also published by the same publisher, Focus Home Interactive.
Looks good, but the price point is too high for this type of game. Most people are likely to only play it once, and for a 10-15 hour game - 50$ is too high. I'll have to wait until it's 30$-40$.
I got a random advertisement on RUclips for this game and thought it looked interesting.. you’ve sold me on it. I (my girlfriend) need something to break me away from Apex.
Luke don't insult the intelligence of rats. Those buggers are annoyingly smart. Garage door broke and was ajar in the winter when I lived with my old roommate.
