Dan you are always a pleasure to watch. I have recommended your channel to friends and family. What shocked me the most was when I learned that my Grand nieces and their friends varying in age from 8 to 12 are avid watchers now and have asked me to take them out to sites in my area. My favorite comment from one was when she useded the phrase "he's a rock Santa" I laughed so hard. Great job in both entertainment and generating interest in the younger generations and maybe creating future prospectors or avid rock collectors. TY for all you do and letting us tag along.
@@Danhurd I wasn't sure if it was an Olight or a Streamlight. Both brands make some great products. I have a few streamlights, but only because I discovered them first. Next time I will try Olight.
Oh wow… ok those crystals that Sebo found in the mine were amazing! I’d absolutly love to see more from the inside of that mine!! I know the floor was gross but maybe there’s a way to open it up and clean it out a bit and explore it further!!! ❤
Envious of Dana because I would love a day in the mountains like that. I would be scouring the ground for any type of pebble. I have a great eye for interesting things.
Sebo is like Quint (from Jaws) except for prospecting. “Sebo puts on a hardhat. Hardhat goes into the cave. Sebo goes into the cave. Gold’s in the cave. Our gold!” 😅
What a great video!!! Thank you Dan for the great information on independent prospectors through to the major mining companies! I never knew how that worked! Always a pleasure watching your videos!
With that much iron present, the orange muck on the floor is probably the iron dissolving bacteria that can also be found in rivers. You can actually collect that stuff, dry it out, and smelt it to recover a large amount of iron. Would've loved to have seen the results from the bags of loose that you snagged.
Another awesome claim, Dan. I recently re-watched the vid Jason did when he visited the site with you. Been re-watching much of his extraction and smelting, trying to figure out how to proceed on his ore. I roasted a big metal bucket of it yesterday, or at least gave it the old college try. I didn't think my temps would be up enough, but what had appeared to be sand and silt prior looked more like ash when I peeked last night. Today it'll find itself in some water to see what's what. So much fun! If I wasn't all busted up and mostly comprised of arthritis and artificial parts, I'd be poking around for a claim to play on myself. Only an hour and a half up to Republic, there's a bunch of old digs all over....... Keep up the good work, always learn a bunch.
@@UncleBildo So much interesting content. Between Dan and Jason for my adventure / smelting and some of the channels that chemically process gold/silver out of 2nd hand jewellery / setting up a silver cell. Man I wish I was 20 again! So much more accessible knowledge.

Love the crystals and stuff you shared in video. Wish I could get some. I collect rocks of all types and have since childhood. Love my rocks and crystal and y'all too.
Goin out for two days in the california motherload on some nugget ground with a garret at gold detector. Hopping for a fingernail but happy with anything. Thanks again dan for getting me into this hobby. great video as always.
I imagine lots of people fall into all those categories at once you mentioned as they progress into the field. I find it hard to believe someone just focuses on gold with all the amazing minerals you can pull from ground. I think the hardest thing with any mine is to know if its profitable to even mine. Even if you get a big $ amount per ton, the cost of getting it out could be WAY to much.
Hi Dan , Hope you get to see this... Can you please consider holding a weekend class getaway or just a day where you take a couple of people on one of your treks for gold and teach us what you are doing? I think it would be an awesome thing and it could be a thing lol... Please reach out to me... Thanks Michael

Ooooh The geologist and mineralogist in me REALLY liked this video! I hope you someday put some of the Arsenopyrite - Pyrhottite -Chalcopyrite and the mine crystals on your site for sale, Dan! The white feathery sprays might be calcite, and the delicate black manganese crystals remind me of a mineral I just bought a couple of years ago: Romanechite (Ba,H2O)2(Mn4+,Mn3+)5O10. That complex formula is a very hydrated complex of Manganese and Barium (or water) ions in a silicate structure; just my first guess for a water-soluble mineral.
Dan, this is fascinating and brings back many memories (of launching hang gliders from moutnaintops in the Okanagan and prospecting with my dad, who was a geologist in B.C.). Nothing like being on top of a mountain and simultaneously being at cloud base watching the wisps stream by. And the beautiful smell of the plants and dirt up there. God's speed.
