Not one car motor compares to the design of a CCW 440, no fucking roller bearings, can these 540 cid v8’s rune total loss with oil injection with xd-100 with oil injection
*I just bought an '87 cutlass with euro front that has an olds 455 with C heads and big cam. Motor has roller cam, rockers and lifters and this car burns rubber down a whole block with 26" DUB floaters.*
Yep. The 455 is a high torque motor and you dont need the 600 hp and to wind it up like most GM engines. You can go with a healthy build of 450 HP and 550 torque with a 5700 redline on stock C heads and do the same performance as this engine on the street. Putting slicks on it is a different story. My 455 is an actual Joe Mondello motor (This one is not). Joe would definately run the big valve C heads worked over instead of a cheap pair of aluminum heads for street use. Keep in mind to work a set of C heads to really move is 5-7000 dollars on top of the cores and valve build.
@@markperry2827 *Yep Joe has been the Oldsmobile doctor for decades. I used to have a 69 Hurst Olds 455 in the 90s and I bought parts for that car from dick Miller racing and Mondello back then. Aluminum block olds drce converted 2 stroke by joe mondello. What ever happened to it. Its was a uniflow scavenged with ports cut into with ported sleeves. Some of these were converted to poppet valved loop charged 2 stroke like this VW:
I've had a mondello valve train in a set of c cast heads. Push rods will bend. I wouldn't recommend the push rods and rockers from them from my past experience. Valve cover clearance for rockers was an issue as well had to notch the milodens for fitment. Too many issues with olds parts and custom parts working in sync together. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU HAVE DEEP POCKETS
“Oil restricters”. Was it built into the pushrods or is it a plug somewhere like passage to the lifters oil holes? Not clear on the Olds engines where it is done to render this certain thing, it’s good to know for future work..
Oil restrictors are in the main journals feeding up to the cam bearing.he said it keeps the bottom more oiled dont need alot oil going to top due to the drain back if using a high volume pump.only 4 restrictors in the mains
@@samspace81 Hello Sam, Not talking about the One that was For Sale, the One that has the Serious Bottom End with the Four Bolt Main Caps. Thanks Tony 😉
Is that the aluminum DRCE for a 2 stroke conversion? i have heard of this before as a clark cycle uniflow with ports cut in the aluminum block. Are you making a poppet valved loop chared 2 stroke 534 CID like this VW:ruclips.net/video/RoiWpJLokEc/видео.html the aluminum DRCE block could run a dry sump so i can rig up a few VRO pumps for oil injection metered into the intake and i intend to klotz synthetic 2 stroke oil. There is just something about a 68 2 stroke oldsmobile that get me going!
I have A motor just like that but nicer we just built. And the price they are selling this motor at is A steal.
