    I switched from a 2007 toyota tacoma trd 4x4 with a 6 speed manual for a honda Ridgeline rtle. It is better in literally every way. 10mpg better on the highway, much more comfortable, and a much easier truck to work out of. 95 percent of the people here claiming to buy the tacoma for its off-road capabilities will only test them when they park in a field at a county fair.

    I don't think most people who are debating which vehicle to get narrow down to the ridgeline vs Tacoma. Idk but to me they just have two very different target audiences, the Tacoma is more for people who actually want a higher ride with a more traditional "truck" feel and use. Vs the ridgeline which is more for people who really just want a mid size suv but occasionally need a truck bed for those larger items/furniture etc. This is subjective but to me the ridgeline is infinitely more comfortable to sit in/drive especially as a taller person. Like i said, it's hard to compare them because their target buyers are very different, i think honda was trying to cross over into the off roading market of people with this trailsport trim, and its cool but i think they'd really need a few more things for people to seriously consider this over a Tacoma solely for off roading. But between the two of them for an everyday driver. Ridgeline all the way, for me it's more spacious, rides smoother, feels more robust and just overall is a more pleasant vehicle to drive.

      On a side note the turbo four cylinder on the Toyota is making people look elsewhere. People just don’t trust those engines yet.

      I really don't think they're trying to compete with tacoma, they'd need to do a lot more off road focused upgrades, it's more likely they just want to give some more off roading capabilities to people who are already leaning towards a ridgeline but wished it was a little more "off road friendly"

    There is no way you’re actually going to pick a ridgeline over a Tacoma. The ridgeline is basically a suv with a bed. It has a dual axel in the back which is not ideal for off-roading (while the Tacoma has a straight axel) which makes it better for road commutes. The clearance is only 7.5” compared to the 8.5+” that most trucks have. The Tacoma may have went down to a 4cyl but that doesn’t meant the performance is worse. Yes the ridgeline does have some cool features like the tailgate and the backseats folding. But everything outside of that, this truck was made as daily point a to point b truck while the Tacoma can make daily commutes while still being able to haul and be used as a work truck and have different truck models for your needs.

    I have a 2023 Ridgeline but it’s my last one. Five reasons I’m considering a 2024 or even 2025 Tacoma over a 2024 Ridgeline:
    1) Honda removed the rear USB ports. Bad move.
    2) Toyota has a handy power tailgate
    3) Honda added a crappy Civic instrument panel for 2024. You can barely see the digital speedo.
    4) Honda reduced the size of the middle storage console by 40%.
    5) Honda got rid of the best selling RTL-E.
    6) Honda only has a 5000 pound towing capacity. The Taco has a 6300 pound capacity.
    Honda’s advantages are a smoother ride, a 3.5 V-6, in bed trunk, a dual action tailgate, and wider cabin and bed.

    • @crawdaddct
      @crawdaddct Месяц назад +1

      Good luck towing more with less cargo capacity. That’s a fake number. No way you could pull 6,300, unless the truck was empty. Of course I would not tie 5K with my Ridgeline. People are loving the new center console.
      I will agree the interior need a major update. Looks like it may get it in 2025. Riglines are an afterthought for Honda. They use left over parts. They are still using the old eco buttons from 10 years ago. I’ve owned Toyota trucks, they are great. That little banger turbo needs to prove itself still though.
