Despite your admonition that one might be disappointed if expecting a workhorse truck with crossover characteristics, I have not been disappointed with my three during 19 years. My first was the original bought in March 2005, released as a 2006 model, and my present when is a 2024 trail sport. I am a professional, forester and real estate broker and Ridgelines have my primary vehicle for land and timber business, as well as use in managing my own Georgia timberland property. They always took me into the deep woods where I needed to go and brought me out safely. I have hauled some of about everything from refrigerators to railroad cross ties to many bags of feed and fertilizer. They have worked well for me with no disappointments as evidenced by my driving nothing else for 19 years. My line of work also necessitated long highway trips to access land and timber and I am sure no other midsize truck compares to the highway comfort of the Ridgeline. That doesn’t mean they’re for everyone, but your comment, in a cursory review was misleading in light of my nearly 20 years experience. Aside from that, during 2005-06 I became so dependent on the Ridgeline trunk that thereafter any truck without a trunk was of no interest to me.
People complain on the price but compared to the new 2024 Tacoma's this is priced well. Yes the TRD Pro and the traihunter have more features but I cannot image spending 55K-65K on a midsize truck!!!! That is full size truck money and you don't even get as much rearseat legroom on those as you do in this. I would much rather have this truck then a new 65K TRD Pro. 90 Percent of americans will use 65K TRD Pro to go get groceries and this will do that just fine and be a lot cheaper and ride way better.
My friend has a 3rd gen Tacoma and it has never seen a day of light 4x4 because he lives in the city and doesn’t do much outdoors adventures. 4x4 on the Tacoma is only part time so everyday driving on the streets will be on 4x2. I have a 2021 ridgeline, I love the Awd because I can use it at high speed or low speed. I don’t do any rock crawling so I don’t care about worrying too much about high clearance. Most of my truck life will be on the streets and light fishing dirt road or camping
Excellent review. I have a 2019 Ridgeline. I really like it because I'm 80 percent of the time using in the city and then hauling stuff in the summer to the cottage. I have worked it hard sometimes, testing it while pulling a pontoon boat on a trailer as well as lugging bags of portland cement as well as lumber. As well, I love the trunk under the bed and I would miss that if I moved to a Tacoma. My complaints are that the info system sucks and disconnects all the time, not enough ground clearance and no real low gear. It's a great city truck for light duty hauling or for a cottage truck like I use it. I've always wanted a Tacoma, but I'm not so sure I'd love the ride as much in the city.
In my decades long experience with Honda products, buy Honda products. Buying this in no way indicates my 03 Element is getting traded in that’s still got an easy 200,000 on top of its first 200,000. Do your maintenance, Honda will be there for you
These 2024 updates should have just been what they did for the 2021 refresh. All of these improvements would've made sense then, now Honda's behind the curve on keeping the Ridgeline competitive
Nice video, we have a 2019 Ridgeline and love it. looking for it to getting a 24 or 25. I have a question, one of the features I did not hear is the right side mirror camera. Please tell me it is still there on both 24 and 25. thanks
What's new? Unfortunately, for another year...not much. The Black Edition Ridgeline interior is lagging behind many of its competitors and surprisingly some of Honda's other models (like the Pilot). The Black Edition Ridgeline desperately needs interior improvements to set it apart from the lower trim lines.
Honda/Acura always had problems with garbage brakes. I know because I owned them. Infotainment center is still way outdated. Was looking into these but I’ll pass on all vehicles for now. Toyota had an opportunity to blow this away but decided to lower quality even below American made products. All are way overpriced. Fuel mileage is poor for that configuration also. Too bad the car market is where it is. It is going to take a couple years for the carmakers to wake up to what people want. I feel the government has played a big part in ruining the car market. Good, honest review! Thanks!
This is is something im really looking at. For most of my uses it is better than my Tacoma, except maybe one. I tow a small camper, 3700lbs, 520 tongue wt. Just wondering about that; the Tacoma does it well.
@@cgreeneblue I did get it set up and towed it. I usually tow at 60 and it did just fine, actually more stable than the Tacoma which was more off roady and a higher COG. I am looking to get my first truck & I think the Ridgeline would suit me best for my needs: comfortable daily commuter that can get through the snow. Haul my fishing gear & 9.6ft kayak in a bed. Thoughts?
I have a tacoma and I drove this Today and hands down it is so much more comfortable then my Tacoma .. really considering this as it’s more comfortable and probably better for day to day use

What about the transmission troubles this truck is plagued with (as well as the Pilot)? Has this been solved with the newer models? I have a 2019 and it has slow, delayed shifting, so not upshifting and it gets stuck at high RPMs.
Seriously, how many people need more 5,000 lbs of towing or off road rock climbing. this vehicle is more than enough for the suburban weekender, work with the tools, you need a full size....
The slight noise around parking lots is normal. It's simply a nearly deadly silent click of the AWD system allowing for very tight turns This is why the Ridgeline can do such right uturns and other trucks can not. My 2017 has done it since birth. Amazing truck I owned now with no issues ever 😎 even towed my travel trailer across Canada
I think the location and size of the spare tyre is going to be an annoyance for some people. It's hidden in the bed, so you might need to offload whatever you have in the bed if you get a flat tyre and you need to replace it. Also, it's a space saver with a steel wheel which means you won't be able to carry heavy loads or tow for long as it might affect the tyre. Other midsized trucks have their spare tyres underneath the truck, and they offer a full size spare with an alloy wheel.
I think the non full-size spare would be a nuisance if you're offroad for sure! Though I've owned a truck with the spare underneath the bed and it was NOT easy to get down (due to rust and the cold). While it would certainly be a pain if you happened to be moving mulch or something when you needed to access the spare, outside of that, moving half of the stuff to get to it doesn't seem like a big deal. Especially considering this is not a work truck and the beds aren't constantly full.

I understand the sentiment but Honda wasn't trying to build a worktruck! And most who buy mid-sizers aren't using them for that to begin with (unless it's for a utility company). I'm still a Tacoma fan for its capability offroad and MT option but the Honda makes one great argument. I'd like to add, in the rare instance that you need the spare, moving half of the stuff that might be in the bed doesn't seem like a hard solution when you're already forced to stop. My spare tire on my old tacoma was located under the bed and breaking off the rust to get it down would have made that nearly impossible if I wasn't in my garage! (my bigger complaint about the Ridgeline spare is that it isn't a full-size).
@@saltyt.1886exactly, I son😅compla. And if I’m going to load the cab with a lot of heavy stuff, I would get the spare before and put in the rear seat or upside of the cargo.

Of all reviewers you almost had it correct, it is IN FACT a Pilot with a bed, you threw the Crossover term out there, which is exactly what the Ridgeline is, a Crossover with a bed or more accurately a Minivan with a bed as both Pilot and Ridgeline are Odyssey based. It is registered as a Crossover and NOT a truck in half the states. It's carlike in ride as you mention, because its a car. The issue I have with all Ridgeline reviews is that they give credibility to the Ridgeline that it simply does not deserve. It's a GREAT product, but it's NOT a truck, it can't do what a truck does other than perhaps moving a large overstuffed chair that would not fit in the back of a Pilot. Just state that facts and take the squirt bottle and stick it in the "trunk", Cars have trunks, Trucks DO NOT. If I ignored the downsides to unibody underpinnings, then that would be misinformation. I don't care what other people call it. SUV, Crossover, Truck, it loosely applies to all three and none of it changes what the vehicle is or does. I'm only left scratching my head by people who get offended by labelling it a truck.
Tell us where the ridgeline hurt you? Haha. Seriously do some research on them. They are actually not built on the odyssey platform and have a subframe under the bed. Thicker, beefier shocks for a high payload of about 1500 lbs. Til last year, a TuRD tacoma had a 950 lb payload lol. A truck hauls things and a ridgeline definitely is capable. Even Land rovers and jeeps are unibodies, but I bet you call them real trucks.
Why the fuck do people get so upset about the word "truck"? Walks like a duck etc etc. It's got a cab, a bed, it tows slightly less, payloads comparable or even better, it's got a V6. Not body on frame. That can be a pro or a con depending on what you want from the vehicle. I don't care what you call it but it's so weird to get so upset about it being referred to as a truck. Just use your eyeballs and look at it.
You are a great reviewer. Not just the facts, but a sense of how things feel.
That’s the goal! Thanks🤟
Damn that V6 has pipes
They really didn't need to make it scream like that🤠
I'm sold. Mid-sized truck capabilties with the ride quality of an SUV...and it's AWD!
That's why people are buying them. Gotta be real. Moved from a Tacoma to a Ridgeline RTL. Ride quality is night n' day.
The power transfer to the rear, and torque vectoring, makes it very capable off road.

Not body on frame. That can be a pro or a con depending on what you want from the vehicle. I don't care what you call it but it's so weird to get so upset about it being referred to as a truck. Just use your eyeballs and look at it.
What truck do that Ridgeline couldn’t? None!😂😅 stop being butt hurt 😅
