Starfire will always be Nightwings true love, given their history together and how their shipping is more well known outside the comics, unlike the Nightwing x Batgirl shipping. It's actually thanks to Starfire's character that Dick Grayson was able to grow as a character during the 80s in Wolfman's Teen Titans run. If it weren't for editorial and upper management back in the 90s, Nightwing and Starfire would've been together. I remember reading up a few years back that the original plan was to not only have them marry but also set themselves up in a city somewhere fighting crime together. To be honest, in my opinion, Dick Grayson being paired up with Barbara Gordon just doesn't work because their relationship was based on bad retcons. Dick and Barbara weren't even a thing back in Pre-Crisis and didn't stay together long during the Post-Crisis era as they paired up for the wrong reasons. Lastly Barbara keeps Dicks character stagnant whenever they're together, while with Koriand'r, helps Dick grow in development as a person.
I disagree, their relationship didn't really need retcons (i know what retcon you are refering to but I think we all agree it was not needed, and all it did make Dick look bad) Their relationships was working fine without that retcon. They had an age gap but it didn't matter much and she was his was his most prominent love interest through post crisis. Their lack of romance in pre crisis is not really a point against the ship either. And she did help Dick grow (not as much as Starfire, that I agree with you) But Barbara did help ground Nightwing, mature and settle Also imo I wouldn't use more well known as a point. Because by that logic Artemis would be considered Wally's true love instead of Linda. Not all comic book pairs get good representation in other media

It's the fact that him dating a alien seems a bit...….fantastical for a character whose firmly rooted into the 'Batman' kind of stories which don't really DO with stuff like that unless it's like a crossover event with other comics? Like, I'd be more fine with it if they JUST kept Night wing as leader of the titans but the fact they keep giving him his own solo series keeps taking him 'out of that world' so it keeps feeling like it doesn't fit? I am also not that big on Night wing X Batgirl mostly because it's...…it's definitely the Peter Parker x Mary Jane kind of situation where they will make it happen and then un-make it because they want Night wing to be single, to the point they've done it SO MANY TIMES I really just don't want them together anymore at this point. Nightwing and Starfire, thanks to Teen Titans in the 2000s. Batman TAS put a bad taste in my mouth for Nightwing and Batgirl.
