- In April 2004 (10 years before the We Went Fast brand existed), I traveled down to Cairo, GA to interview Ricky Carmichael for a feature that eventually aired in the first round of the 2004 AMA Pro Motocross Championship TV coverage on ESPN2.
Carmichael returned to riding on April 1, 2004 after having surgery on his left ACL on Dec. 9, 2003. This would have been one of his first days back on the bike.
This is raw footage I shot on my Sony HandyCam. I was just playing around, trying to get some "artistic" shots. I think we even used a few in the TV coverage!

A couple of years after RC went to Honda and I needed a new lawnmower. I stickied that thing up as an RC replica. Then he went Suzuki. I just bought a new mower and weedeater and they are orange and black. Very KTM. The only decals so far are KTM. We’ll see how the factory team shakes out and take it from there. Good video. That sound! 🔥

I loved the 04 crf 450, it did everything well. The 18 was terrible.
NGL, I was a bit skeptical of how well he would perform that year. Lost 6 straight races to Reed at the end of 2003 SX, missed all of 2004 SX because of knee surgery, switched to the unproven 450 4-stroke, announced he was leaving Honda for Suzuki. The cards were definitely stacked against RC. But then he came out and dominated at Hangtown. I learned then to never doubt the GOAT.
