Great video. I'm going with Stewart as the fastest on a 125 and RC as the fastest on a 250. There were times where Tortelli and Windham could be untouchable, but more often than not, RC was too much for them. I don't think anyone has gone as fast on a 125 as Stewart to this day. Bring the 2003-2004 James Stewart and that Kawi he rode forward in time to 2023, and he would still.smoke anyone's ass today on a 125. Even on today's bikes. If there were a way to do that, I'd bet everything I own on Stewart. 2003 Mxon...RC on that CR250 did something beyond legendary. Only RC could have pulled that off. That's one example of why I give him the nod as the best ever on a 250 two stroke.

@@padna7946 I agree, but it wasn't just Carmichael who beat Stewart when Stewart rode the 250 two stroke. He got beat by other riders as well. Look at the dominance of RC when he rode the 250 two stroke outdoors against the 4 strokes. He straight up whooped Everts on a Euro track while on that CR250 with Everts on the 450 four stroke. He even came from a long ways back in the pack. Stewart got straight up whooped by Everts at 2006 mxon even on a 450 four stroke and Everts 34 years old going into retirement. In a full season I'd bet the farm that Carmichael would defeat Stewart at least 8 out of 12 races if they were both on 250 two strokes.

I don't think the Carmichael era would have had the success that they had, if they had to race with Wardy and Johnson. The Wardy era was way tougher! Especially in Supercross! There were a lot of dirty riders back then. The Wardy era laid the blueprint for the Carmichael era! Here's my top 5 in Supercross! Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, James Stewert, Jeremy Mcgrath, Ricky Carmichael. Outdoors top 5. Stefan Everts, Jeffery Herlings, Bob Hannah, Eric Geboers, James Stewert. This Unadilla race would be Stanton’s only pro race ever on a 125-he was trying to prove to DeCoster he would be a worthy pick for the small bike for the des Nations. He went 1-1, beating that year’s top 125 riders Mike Kiedrowski and Damon Bradshaw. Stanton would never need to race a 125 again, though. By the time des Nations rolled around, Johnson was struggling with the wrist, and Stanton got the 250 spot. Tortelli is the only rider who beat both Everts and RC4 in their primes. Besides he won MXoN race 125/500 on 125 bike.
And I would delete Pastrama from the list and add Michael Pichon who numerous times beat on 250 2t Everts who was on 450 4t

Js, rc, on both 125 and 250. Robbie Reynard had killer corner speed and to ride a 125 like did. Pastrana rips as well. I got to ride with him many years ago down at lake sugar tree at a Gary Bailey School. Yogi, ryno, there were sooo many fast guys could go back further than that. Bradshaw, Stanton, the digger, johnny o and bailey. The list goes on and on. Great watch

JS7 had a flow in his style that changed the sport! He made a 125cc look like a 250cc going big and always pinning it. The fastest man to ever ride supercross/motocross!
RC4 was just as good and his championships don't lie! But heads up with JS7, bubba rode circles around many guys! He could enter a race tomorrow against the new generation and I can see him finishing at worst top 5. He was always awesome to see ride.
Last to first in a couple races with pure determination and another level of skills!

James was by far the faster rider ever 125 or 250. But my favorite rider to this day is pastrana his technique was absolutely flawless and is still what many rider couches teach today-perfect attack position standing more than anyone else. Even James rode flat footed. Ricky was just consistent but wasn’t the fastest and I didn’t like him for taking out pastrana in supercross many times because he couldn’t out-rite beat Travis to save his life. Plus pastranas bikes/ gear was the best looking of that time! Love pastrana broke my heart when he went full time to rally cars.
