I have one as a company car. It’s cheaper for me than a petrol version monthly due to the tax breaks and way cheaper to ‘fuel’ due to home charging. The claim of 5.1 miles per KWhr are total nonsense - I get 4.0 in summer and 3.3 in winter. Yes I know the new version is more efficient but not by that much. However, if I was to buy one myself it would be £10,000 more. That’s nuts and I can see why private buyers are put off, especially as the GT model I have is £35k and that’s almost as much as the MG4 XPower. Saying that there are huge discounts on the e208 if you look for them. It’s a good car but way overpriced - they need to take £10,000 off the list price and stop huge discounts, otherwise MG will continue to eat their lunch.
I think at this point you'd be foolish not to wait for the Renault 5 announcement in Feb. Also you can get a great used e208 for sub-£15k, which just makes the new car look unnecessary.
The new touchscreen looks like a nice upgrade over our 2021 e-2008. Do we reckon the older models will get that in a future software update, seeing as the screens are basically the same?
I cant say how the 2024 version is like driving. But I guess it is pretty similar to the 208 e GT 2023 version. I tried it this weeknd and to be honest I was a little bit underwhelmed… It did not feel quick, tight and fun like a GT in my opinion should do. The brakes need to be pushed in half the way before gripping? The sport seats were soft and plush? The steering was kinda fun and alright. The sport mode did not feel different from normal to be honest and the touchscreen, where do I begin? Confusing and messy, never found what I was looking for and struggled to exit when I clicked wrong. The cruise control? Useless and not intuitive at all. Why is it so hidden and why isn’t it on the steering wheel? So old school that it is sad actually. Since we are looking for a new ev to change our VW e-UP to get one with more range we tought it would be a nice upgrade alternative. Sat down in the 2024 version at the dealer. And the seats are the same, the brakes feels the same, the screen do not seem to be upgraded much either and the cruise control, still the old solution with a cheap lever. It is not a bad car at all, dont get me wrong but it is just so underwhelming. Perfect for getting from A to B downtown. But it stops there unfortunately:(
I have 2021 e-208 gt.Best car I have ever had.Even in cold weather have had range of 213 mlles. I am getting average of 3.7 miles to kWh I top it up once a week at an electric cost of £10.77 Great to drive, very quiet and well built. People who go on about how bad electric cars are have obviously never had one or tried one Yes a new one is expensive Mine was just 2 years old with 6000 miles on the clock It’s the only way to buy an electric car!
I got on well with the i-cockpit straight away but Mike is 1 foot taller than me. Comparing the petrol auto GT 136 to the electric GT shows an 8k difference. considering how long Peugeot have been making the e-208 is is crazy! If the e-208 was a bit more than the petril version dealers could upsell people into them but not at £8k.
To Peugeot's or Stellantis' defense, having a regen that won't bring the car to a full stop and thus force you to use the actual brakes a little will prevent the brakes from rusting and becoming useless when you really need them, which is a known issue for EVs that are driven with strong regen only. Beautiful car inside out, the range is just about good. I'd definitely consider a Peugeot EV in the future. Just look at the 3008 with 700 km of range. :)
In cold or wet weather Teslas employs brake disc wiping. It repeatedly applies an imperceptible amount of brake force to remove water from the surface of the brake discs.
I was thinking about getting a second hand one of the old version, but it's probably not a good idea. The second hand value of the old version starts at 20K Euros (here in Germany), and there are a few people selling them for 25K and more. Which is a lot of money when at the end of next year VW will be releasing the ID.2 for 25K Euros here in Germany. So the second hand value of these e208 will drop through the floor when the ID.2 comes out.
The basic petrol model has not 156 bhp or automatic gearbox so a mlittle bit misinformation about the actual price difference in the same spec.I agree it is expencive though. And it comes also with 11 ac charging.I think you can do better.
Nicola, yet again a brilliant review. And indeed of one of the best, if not THE Best 'small' EV. This would be top of my list. Looks amazing. And does exactly what it says it will do. That said a lot of dosh for the EV. The petrol is so much better value. Things need to change. Thank you.
They do… because they don`t want to lose money with EVs like many other company. Ford lose money with each sold EV at this moment… Good busines? Definitely not! Sellantis seems to try to keep the price so that they don`t lose money… not good for sales, but maybe good for company economy.
@@haukionkannelford isn’t a good example because they make god awful EVs, which is why here in the UK they have only just added a second EV to their lineup after the meh Mach E
I don't think the price would be so much of an issue if it had more range and more power. I fully appreciate that city cars can generally get away with smaller range and power is less of an issue when city driving, but people are unlikely to want to pay that amount, especially when the Citroen eC-3 is going to be starting at £21,000. The Citroen won't be as nice inside or out, but it's so much cheaper that people won't care and they are unlikely to want to pay an extra £11,000 for style and quality, when they can get something like a Volvo EX-30, which offers far more for around the same price as the Peugeot.
I very much doubt that the Citroen eC-3 will actually be £21,000 as people are saying, my guess would be £25,000; I'm happy to be proved wrong though. As we have no EV subsidies like the French, and it will have to be right-hand drive you can't just do a straight euro to pound price conversion. Also for some reason car manufacturers think that the United Kingdom is a discerning market where buyers will only buy the premium (i.e. more expensive) varients of car models. Sometimes manufacturers will not sell the base model of each model in the UK. Some cars do not even make it to the UK, like the Dacia Spring electric and I'm not sure if the rebadged Renault Twingo electric will make it here either. We are crying out for cheap good affordable cars in the UK, but the car manufacturers do not want to supply them here. Ermm... eat words time, just looked at the Dacia website, and they say that it is coming to the UK this year.
This huge difference in prices between the ICE and EV versions is unacceptable. Current average cost per kWh of EV battery packs is $139 (this is the whole pack, not just the battery cells), so a 51kWh battery pack by rough calculation should be $7089. Charging £12000 extra for the electric version (and the electric motor should be cheaper than an ICE engine, as it is far less complicated and intricate to manufacture, as seen by the trend of cheaper cars having awful 3 cylinder engines to reduce costs) is just obscene and an afront to us consumers who want to buy a less polluting vehicle. All new ICE cars should have a £5000-£10000 levy applied to them if the car manufacturers are going to behave in this way.
Sorry but Peugeot is taking the p with the pricing. It is not just the £12k difference between ICE and EV identical versions, it is that it is clearly overpriced compared to the MG4 and BYD Dolphin. This car feels like the latest ID3, dead on arrival due to the price - there is no reason to buy this compared to MG4 or Dolphin. This is one for Peugeot fans only - but it does look very nice
Even the dolphin is massively overpriced compared to how much they are going for in Thailand or Malaysia. Not to mention the price in their home country
@@PsychedMedia Couple of points. There is import duty and VAT to pay which means govt. takes roughly 1/3rd of the purchase price, I suspect taxes are a lot lower in Thailand and Malaysia and of course no import duty in China for cars made in China. Also BYD will have set the UK price based on the UK market.
@@justinstephenson9360 in thai the mg4 costs roughly the same as the Dolphin,in the UK MG4 is much cheaper than the Dolphin despite coming from China as well. So there's that
@@PsychedMedia Not sure where you get your UK pricing buy I can get the MG4 SE long range for £29,495 and the BYD Dolphin with the 60 Kw battery for £29311-30,766. So pretty much same price - MG4 has a slightly better range but not as good interior (I like both) - not true that MG4 is "much cheaper" in UK. Would I prefer that they were £4-5k cheaper? Of course I would but they are still undercutting most of their competition by a lot
Agree with you about the benefits and joy of One Pedal Driving. You guys could post more about the reasons why it is a joy, makes driving easy and improves efficiency etc. For me, if I drive an ICE car I miss it immediately and find it hard work to control the cars speed. Just saying. Scalexitric mode for me 100%
While OPD is nice, and a lot of people really like it. The efficiency benefits are really quite hard to prove. It does prevent use of the friction brakes for as much as possible of the deceleration. However, on the Stellantis e-CMP/CMP2 cars the brake blending is very effective. The challenge, of course, is driving style
I currently drive a Tesla Model 3 and yes... One Pedal Driving is really nice. It's comfortable and really easy to get used too. But! It wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me as I'm also used to driving the ICE (with manual gearbox) from my wife.
Something we have known for a while and maybe have forgotten, When making ICE cars, manufacturers used to sell them for a pittance and then earn their profit on servicing and spares. With EVs, they are not going to be able to claw anything back after the sale. Is this how things will be then? Expensive to buy but cheap to run? Well, the Chinese, Koreans and Tesla may throw a spanner in that particular strategy. The legacy automakers have got to get much much much much more efficient at building their cars or die I think. I do like the little Peugeot though. Why can't other cars be as fun to drive?
I think price is THE main focus for most of us when looking at new cars, not just one. They have to get these prices down to match ICE vehicles if they want to encourage people to switch.
That’s a lot of money for such a small car! There are bigger cars on sale for the same price or cheaper. That’s an issue that needs sorting with EVs. £12k difference between petrol and ev models is mad.
Hume is always so Humorous! I sure wish we had EVs like this here on our side of the pond. Por curiosidad, ¿te defiendes bien en castellano? ¿o catalán?
Actually one pedal driving is, surprisingly, not the most efficient way of driving. That's because you are forced to decelerate more quickly than necessary. Even with an electric car, gradual coasting is still a more efficient way to show down. But it requires anticipation
I'm pretty certain an electric motor, inverter and various other gubbins (cables etc) would be no more expensive than a complicated engine and gearbox. Plus battery prices are now below $100 per kWh so the cost this one is nowhere near £12000. Stellantis are taking the mickey and should be avoided like the plague.
Stellantis group obviously doesn't want to sell electric cars. Why would they want to price out themselves for a semi okay car. Far too many downsides and specifications below industry standard.
The £12k difference is more than eaten up on the nearly new market. Plenty of examples around as well… All with a fair amount of miles per year, so they must be alright to drive!
If car features a rear wiper the car is designed so badly that it needs one! The 'ex-demonstrator' car that I've owned for 20 years has one windscreen wiper at the front and none at the rear because that is all it needs as demonstrated by 200,000 miles driven with one screen wiper :-)
Carwow dealers quoted £24k for the 2024 model but in horrible yellow colour. The E-Style is selling for £20k on Autotrader! Madness, because Carwow dealers were offering it for £32k back in Dec 2023 and the most discount they offered was £500! 🤣
The cost of the Stellantis cars is crazy and it seems they are not wanting to sell electric cars. For not a huge amount extra, there are so many much larger and better range EV's. When China and Tesla finally bring the similar size cars around £25k it will be a problem.
They don`t want to lose money by selling EVs like many other company does… That is why they are expensive. They are not looking to get market share. Just to have EV option in their broshyres and sell few of these at no loss.
I'm a big EV fan but ... 12k more than the fossil-fuel version?? There's just no way. I wonder if Pug are pricing the ICE ones to shift them while they can?
The new Renault 5 Retro will eat this. The price says nothing about the Car more about the brand is about four years behind. This Car looks like a rushed refresh ahead of the Chinese onslaught. If the price was £24k I’d be clapping my hands but pug still needs to refine mass production.
I do like the front of the older model more with the single "fang" instead of claw stripes for lighting, but the rear of the newer model wins it over the older model. Never liked the design of the rear lights.
Isn’t that indicator noise from the “popcorn” trak…🤔 Manufacturers need telling about this pricing strategy for EV customers… it’s really silly..! I’ve followed EV development from the 50mile range Th!nk cars and for years they wrote how much cheaper EV’s are to produce than an ICE car..! ICE have 1000’s of precision made parts that need experts to assemble, setup and test etc … I know the manufacturers are hiding behind this battery expense thing but jeez they need to get a grip..!
£14,000 buys a used e208 that if you can home charge will save you £1,000 a year on fuel alone if you do reasonable mileage. Home charging is the key though.
@@mikewhitehead50 I was comparing the price of exactly the same car when it's either ICE or EV. That's why I said £14'000 pounds will buy a hell of a lot of free motoring if you buy exactly the same car as an ICE rather than an EV. £14'000 would probably be 3 years petrol for nothing, all the servicing, all the insurance and enough left over for a couple of nice holidays.
@@alunjones2550I was comparing the same car. 208 Allure Premium+ ICE can be had for £19k new. The EV equivalent, £24k. So the real gap is more like £5k, not £14k.

I bet they won't lower the price until the R5 releases. Between this 208 and the Corsa, Stellantis faces almost no competition in this segment. The Zoe is too old tech and the Dolphin grew 20cm for the european version.
Thanks for all the "work" 😁. Nice review. Nice car, but at least €8.000 to high in price. We will wait for what Renault brings with the R5 E-tech. More in the €25k section and V2G functionality 👍👍
Should have come with 65kWh battery and 200-240 HP. Why bother adding 18 HP and 2kWh to your platform? Oh, and the great thing is, you can get the old drivetrain in the new car as well...
I always enjoy your reviews. 👍 I was never a fan of hatches. As soon as you said this doesn't have 1 pedal driving, its a hard pass for me. Otherwise, great review. 🙂
Some reliability issues are reported too, just in case private buyers aren't put off already by the price. In fact without the company car scam I doubt many EVs would be viable in UK
Why are we still being given such ridiculous mileage figures from all the car companies, doing a proper on road range test would be much more helpful when considering spending up to £36K for such a small car 🤨🤨
Take it from me as a current owner, you get 4.0 per kWhr in summer and 3.3 in winter. Even if the new car has a useable battery of 50 that gives you 200 miles ish in summer and 165 in winter. 248 will never happen!
Great car but crack pricing will ultimately see more sales go to the Far East. I don't know how you can remove a complex internal combustion engine and driveline and replace it with a simple electric motor and small battery pack and end up with something costing 12K more. Either Stellantis have a massive hole in their pension scheme and are looking at this baby to top it up, or they take the public for fools. Shame, I like it a lot but not at that price. It's a no from me.
This would be a great car at £25,000 but it's not £25,000 so will pass. On the plus side this will probably be 15000 in a couple of years, so maybe get it as a second city/local country lanes run around (if my wife ever learns to drive!)
How does it stack up with tax incentives added on? I'm genuinely curious, not because I want or could buy it, but because I feel like that's so often left out of the equation for most people whining about price (like some comment warriors on this very video) For the record, I've been driving the 2021 model from a family member, it's the most fun thing I've driven. I dislike some things like the kind of tasteless fake carbon, how the AC is a touch control (and the lag of the capacitive row, ugh) and the steering wheel corner that perfectly covers the speedometer when overtaking, but it's just so fun and zippy and leaves every other car in the dust at intersections at half throttle. I've been having way too much fun in this thing for it being a silly little city car, I just wish they wouldn't cap its speed at 150kph because it really starts to struggle with the zippiness on the Autobahn, otherwise it's perfect.
Blood daft that its so expensive, car designed for the younger market presumably, not many mid 25 yr olds i know can afford over 30k on a car, and in the middle of the financial woes we have at the moment.

It's different hardware behind the head unit, so unlikely.
With the pricing they made for E 208, E Corsa and Astra Electric, im not quite sure Stellantis Group really wants to sell these cars???
They sell for 25% discount off list price. It’s a ridiculous sales model - high list price then high discounts. Not fooling anybody.
If I drove that car at 90 miles per hour down the motorway how far would it go before the battery went flat?
I am getting average of 3.7 miles to kWh
I top it up once a week at an electric cost of £10.77
Great to drive, very quiet and well built.
People who go on about how bad electric cars are have obviously never had one or tried one
Yes a new one is expensive
Mine was just 2 years old with 6000 miles on the clock
It’s the only way to buy an electric car!
I much prefer to have the option. Just approach the red light a little faster every so often, meaning you need to use the brake a bit.
So the second hand value of these e208 will drop through the floor when the ID.2 comes out.
the fiat 600e has a discount of £3000 making it cheeper and with a slightly bigger range,
The basic petrol model has not 156 bhp or automatic gearbox so a mlittle bit misinformation about the actual price difference in the same spec.I agree it is expencive though. And it comes also with 11 ac charging.I think you can do better.
Love the humour as always & indicator sound :)
Thank you Nicola for mentioning the price difference and thats why a lot of people will not buy
Nicola, yet again a brilliant review. And indeed of one of the best, if not THE Best 'small' EV. This would be top of my list. Looks amazing. And does exactly what it says it will do. That said a lot of dosh for the EV. The petrol is so much better value. Things need to change. Thank you.
Adaptive cruise will bring to a stop if the car in from stop - I’ve got a ‘70 e2008!
It's almost as if the European car makers are trying to put you off electric for as long as they can. No matter the Chinese will take over.
Love all Peugeot cars! Especially the alluring 208 Pug. Although I would never consider an electric model, and would opt for the hybrid at best.
Is the hybrid version a plug-in or a so called "mild" hybrid?
@@pdebie1982 Mild Hybrids 👍
Is it looks green or yellow in real life?
Thank you.
¿o catalán?
Yeah, the price... it's like charging extra for a vegan sandwich (and then complaining there is not enough demand).
The outgoing model almost new is under £20k at many dealers, a much better deal
That price 🤣😂. Good looking car mind. I wonder if the guys on the indicators were listening to "popcorn" 😜at the time 😁
Actually one pedal driving is, surprisingly, not the most efficient way of driving. That's because you are forced to decelerate more quickly than necessary. Even with an electric car, gradual coasting is still a more efficient way to show down. But it requires anticipation
I have just ordered the 136 Hybrid Petrol. Over 10 grand cheaper and hopefully as much fun as you say
I’m. The “claw marks” remind me if Everton mints. I like the mints, no so much those DRLs.
This is a beautiful little car
The cost of the Stellantis cars is crazy and it seems they are not wanting to sell electric cars. For not a huge amount extra, there are so many much larger and better range EV's.
When China and Tesla finally bring the similar size cars around £25k it will be a problem.
They don`t want to lose money by selling EVs like many other company does…
That is why they are expensive. They are not looking to get market share. Just to have EV option in their broshyres and sell few of these at no loss.
forget 30k, discounts of 10k from dealers make this the best deal right now
Whipability should be a standard testing metric going forward 😂
I have the 2020 e208. I still think it's one of the best looking cars out there 😊
I'm a big EV fan but ... 12k more than the fossil-fuel version?? There's just no way. I wonder if Pug are pricing the ICE ones to shift them while they can?
great vid!
The new Renault 5 Retro will eat this. The price says nothing about the Car more about the brand is about four years behind. This Car looks like a rushed refresh ahead of the Chinese onslaught. If the price was £24k I’d be clapping my hands but pug still needs to refine mass production.
I liked the pre-facelift design more.
I do like the front of the older model more with the single "fang" instead of claw stripes for lighting, but the rear of the newer model wins it over the older model. Never liked the design of the rear lights.
Isn’t that indicator noise from the “popcorn” trak…🤔
Manufacturers need telling about this pricing strategy for EV customers… it’s really silly..!
£12'000 buys a lot of petrol, servicing, tyres and maintenance.
£14,000 buys a used e208 that if you can home charge will save you £1,000 a year on fuel alone if you do reasonable mileage. Home charging is the key though.
@@ISuperTed I was comparing the costs of buying new.
Brand new previous model e-208’s are available with up to £12k off RRP. Same with the Corsa. Check auto trader.
I hate the steering wheel position of recent Peugeot models.
Is it pea green or pee green? 🤣
Im 190cm. Therefore, I hate the icockpit design. I will always choose Opel (vauxhal) or the future Citroen eC3.
Nicola, mettiti dei jeans più stretti, per favore👍🙏
0:19 nope wasn't thinking that at all, I was thinking when was this filmed because it's def not the weather for what you're wearing in england, it's a F siberia over here what are you on about bruv
I bet they won't lower the price until the R5 releases. Between this 208 and the Corsa, Stellantis faces almost no competition in this segment. The Zoe is too old tech and the Dolphin grew 20cm for the european version.
The outside looks too weird and dont like those odd shapes for the LED strips. Wheels are nasty and look like spiders. Interior is lovely tho
Thanks for all the "work" 😁. Nice review. Nice car, but at least €8.000 to high in price. We will wait for what Renault brings with the R5 E-tech. More in the €25k section and V2G functionality 👍👍
Thanks for the heads-up about the e-style model. That's just a rubbish move by Peugeot. The car looks really great though.
0-100km?????
Should have come with 65kWh battery and 200-240 HP. Why bother adding 18 HP and 2kWh to your platform? Oh, and the great thing is, you can get the old drivetrain in the new car as well...
I wouldn't be surprised if it was software tweaks for both the motor and battery.
Nicola looking gorgeous as always❤
I always enjoy your reviews. 👍
I was never a fan of hatches. As soon as you said this doesn't have 1 pedal driving, its a hard pass for me.
Otherwise, great review. 🙂
Nice car 😀
Some reliability issues are reported too, just in case private buyers aren't put off already by the price. In fact without the company car scam I doubt many EVs would be viable in UK
Why are we still being given such ridiculous mileage figures from all the car companies, doing a proper on road range test would be much more helpful when considering spending up to £36K for such a small car 🤨🤨
I love it but a nicely specced GT is getting seriously close to Tesla money. The price is just to high.
An extra 2kwh hour battery at 3 miles per kwh means another 6 miles there no way ever outside of a lab it will get 248 miles
Take it from me as a current owner, you get 4.0 per kWhr in summer and 3.3 in winter. Even if the new car has a useable battery of 50 that gives you 200 miles ish in summer and 165 in winter. 248 will never happen!
The new motors are more efficient than the old ones, apparently.
I like the look but the price……
Can someone please pass Golem the ring 👀😱
This would be a great car at £25,000 but it's not £25,000 so will pass. On the plus side this will probably be 15000 in a couple of years, so maybe get it as a second city/local country lanes run around (if my wife ever learns to drive!)
The reality is you can buy them for £25k anyway and £15k a year old. Not a buy at that point but I wouldn’t get a new one even with a big discount.
How does it stack up with tax incentives added on? I'm genuinely curious, not because I want or could buy it, but because I feel like that's so often left out of the equation for most people whining about price (like some comment warriors on this very video)
For the record, I've been driving the 2021 model from a family member, it's the most fun thing I've driven.
Her review is detailed and complete. But i can't focus on the car. She looks incredible in those jeans. Oh to be young again.
i have a 2023 e208gt range is 150miles in the real world

Hi Nicola
Lots of alternatives at that price that are better
