Nice car, thanks for the walk around. I've run an peugeot e-expert van for two years which runs on the same platform I believe. Absolutely love the thing. Done 30k miles of hard use in the buildingtrade. Will cover around 170miles with cargo on a full charge. Top up cheap at home. Perfect.
Thank you for a great video Andrew. @10:38mins you say you cannot think why you would watt to ever turn parking sensors off. If you drive down some tight country lanes, they automatically keep coming on and sometimes the camera on some models will automatically turn on removing your navigation guidance or whatever was being displayed on the infotainment system. I love the way that you give the useful stats in detail as you go through the description. Much enjoyed and not as long or irritating like many of the US versions I endured looking into the Polestar and Tesla Y. Shall subscribe to see more!
Have had one for over 3 years. A few minor niggles (the app for example) but otherwise really happy with it. Drove to Scotland and back last month with no issues at all.
Interesting to see the E-208, I have the automatic petrol version of this car although a little older (2020 allure) The gear selector is different but the rest of the interior looks the same to me. You get used to the steering wheel shape, and the cruise control/speed limiter is kind of awkward but after a while becomes quite intuitive. I wouldn't mind having the e-208 as a direct replacement for my ICE one but I wish Peugeot would build something designed as an EV from the start, the electric models are really just ICE transplants.
Nice! You've covered a lot after just one day... sums it up well. I've had mine for 2.5 years and not noticed any degradation in range, handles my motorway journeys well, and the interior still feels special. Worst thing is the Peugeot app (I mostly rely on Tronity) and the lack of % - the GOM seems better on more recent models, but mine is a 2020 build so the GOM can go a bit bananas at times.
I also have the 2020 version I love it did a 2000km round trip to the south of France last summer. sadly My GOM is also strange I charge it mostly with a household plug as I don't drive. that much. The strangest thing is after charging for example to 90% my GOM reads that I have almost 400km of range totally impossible. But if I let it sit for 15 min then the GOM estimates are much more realistic to around 280km's. I received an notification inside the Peugeot app telling me it has to go in for a recall (Software update of the drivetrain with a code MF9) Peugeot told me that this wil fix the inaccurate GOM. You can view it in the Peugeot app in the top right then tap my recalls.
Had one (GT) for nine months now (company lease). I love it - fast, smooth, rides and handles superbly. Range is 180 miles max really - I’m getting 4.0 KWHr per mile currently and the useable battery is 45 KWhr. Unlikely to get more than that unless you hypermile it. Over winter that dropped to 3.2 so range dropped to 150 ish. Small wheel doesn’t bother me at all and cabin is really nice. Space wise it’s quite small in the back and boot not massive but as a second car it’s great. Highly recommended.
You do not need to engage the e-brake when you put it in park. In normal that is 110 ps, ECO about 90 ps. It does give full power with a floored accelerator. Steering weight different in Normal than in Sport where heavier.
Found any way to limit the charge to a set percentage? I had a corsa-e from onto for a while and the only option I found was to charge to full every time (unless you sit there and unplug) - not an issue on rapids but not super for the battery if I’m topping up to 100% at home every night. The corsa was an alright car (if you forget the price) but watch out for those alloys - super easy to ding
The app from Onto, the car subscription service I’m using. You can also see it in the Peugeot app though. There’s actually also a button at the end of the right stalk that, when pressed, briefly shows the battery percentage and efficiency.
Nice and unfussy quick review. Plain and simple it is, which doesn't have to be a bad thing. How is it getting in and out, does one have to double up? Also, am I right in assuming that the EV is adapted from the ICE model? Any frunk? What will Flaviana say?
You should get the % of the battery if you press the button at the tip of the right stalk, it appears with the consumption and the if you press it again you get the information for trip A and B. 👍
Thx for the review. just had my ev a new 2008 ev allure premium good car so far .your info on ev ownership has been helpful to me as this is my first many thanks
As far as I can see it would be about £33k on the road to buy new. I think it would have to be 5k less for me to consider. Hopefully prices will come down with competition in time.
Never buy new unless you get your wages for free If your working for your money ,why on earth waste so much on a new car Get one half price when it's 2 years old
Hi - have just bought one (had it a week) - do you know of or found a work around for the in cars inability to set a charging limit to 80% - it appears just guess work via the home 7kW charger which only allows you to set a time range when charging occurs, but no way of telling it to turn off when it reaches the Holy grail level of 80% - just a niggle that's all. The Peugeot app is equally appalling. Car seems fun to dive though.
Congrats! I couldn't find a solution to the lack of a charge limit although I've read that the battery has a large upper buffer, so even if you charge to 100%, it's actually just charging to 80% of the total capacity anyway. So if Peugeot aren't too worried about it, I suppose we shouldn't be either!
The problem with this is that they are selling a 20k Euro car for 40k... doesn't make sense. There are at least 3 different cars in the same price category which offer far more than this tin can.
I've not had it in winter to test but looking ay EV Database, it gives these real world figures: City - Cold Weather 170 mi Highway - Cold Weather 120 mi Combined - Cold Weather 145 mi City - Mild Weather 265 mi Highway - Mild Weather 160 mi Combined - Mild Weather 200 mi Since I've had it, I'd say that was pretty accurate. ev-database.org/car/1583/Peugeot-e-208
Have commented on Twitter. My wife has the identical model. Needed a car with rear doors as she takes friends around. Range was widely inaccurate in the winter, better in the summer. The lack of any manual is dreadful. We have spent hours on RUclips learning how to use the controls. She never uses cruise control because the stick is out of view so unless you know where controls are by touch it is hopeless. The lane control can be quite aggressive and there are no clear instructions how to turn it off & the Peugeot dealer in Eastbourne couldn’t advise if it could be set to ‘off’ rather than having to switch off each journey. As you say it drives very nicely around country lanes but the sporty wheels do not cope with potholes in East Sussex compared to my Niro with 17” wheels. Getting 4m/kWh means it only needs charging once a week in the summer and on Octopus Go it is costing about 2.4p/mile. I will watch your videos with interest. Try to get the Niro EV next time and my wife and I can then compare & contrast!
The manual can be found online. I read through it in advance, so nothing really surprised me and you learn many useful things that are hard to discover by yourself :-)
The E208 is a very nice practical little car it just falls down on the price. The base model with no extras is £32,000 according to the website. That looks very pricey when compared to an MG 4 at £27,000.
I really want to get the e208. I have a 206 at the moment. If I was to switch to electric I would choose the e208. Did you use the 15% discount code on Onto with your subscription?
@@ohyesitsme I'm sure even if it got to that stage, administrators would give people a reasonable time to make arrangements. They'd not have enough people on hand to do all the collections anyway!
@@MrEVI had mine for 6 months. In summer the range is better on the motorway. So about 130-150 miles in winter you are lucky to get 120. The new 23 model is meant to be better and the Gom has improved. I never got a charging speed over 79 kWh (5% battery) but it charges well to 90%
I've got the e-2008 and really enjoying it and the way it looks. Kind of wish though that it just had a bit extra range for those longer journeys, always seems to just not quite have enough for some reason.
I had one as a courtesy car earlier this week, and I didn't really like it. The interior seemed cramped and cluttered, and I had trouble getting the seat in a position where I could see the driver's screen. OVER the steering wheel (which is tiny)? Driving it was like pootling around in a Fiesta compared to the big smile that came over my face the minute I set off in my test drive for my MG4. I could see the interior was a higher spec than the MG4, and the radio was certainly better, but for whatever reason I didn't like it. The MG4 has a sort of uncluttered spartan simplicity to it that's really relaxing. I guess there are a lot of features I didn't investigate in my short time driving the car, and you do get used to a car, but the "meh" response I had to this compared to the "I'm in love!" response I had to the MG4 was unexpected. (These are the only two EVs I've ever been in.) The dashboard is a truimph of 3D graphics over actual information. I was really, really happy to take it back to the dealer and retrieve my MG4 from its appointment with the software updater.
Good “first impressions” video. Had a 307cc and loved it so Peugeot could be a contender. The dashboard seemed a little laggy when changing views but that’s not a thing to be done when on the move so not critical. Didn’t see the rear floor so assume it’s got a tunnel due to sharing design with ICE cousins. Looking forward to full report from the family.
This is the car we're looking at to replace our Toyota Yaris (our second car). Unfortunately, we need two cars due to where we live, our work schedules, kids' activities etc. but this would be a good fit. Our other car is a BEV with good range ... so ideally the second car would have a decent range so that it does not need to be charged each day allowing us to rotate cars in our single charging spot. It is why a cheaper secondhand older EV often doesn't work, as the range is at the level that (how we drive) we'd have to charge it almost every day. Anyway ... cheers for the review. Looking forward to more videos.
We have one as our second car and would highly recommend it - lovely car to drive/own. It’s got reasonable space but quite cramped in the back though fine for 4 people. Boot again not the biggest but okay. Range wise realistically my version does about 180 miles in the summer and 150 in the winter, though I know the latest version does a bit more. It shows about 205 miles when fully charged but best efficiency has been 4.0 KWhr and with a usable battery of 45 KWHr that gives 180 miles. Overall though it’s a great small car especially in GT trim. Expensive new but depreciation is quite high now so a one year old is a pretty good buy in my opinion.
I looked at one when thinking about an EV city car, like most of the Peugeots, nice looking but a stupid steering wheel/dash layout, where for me the wheel obscures the instruments unless the wheel is on my lap. Honda E in my opinion was better and that's what I bought and drove for a year, before trading it in for a hybrid.
@@MrEV agree it's too expensive new now. Paid sub £30k at the time and considering the high spec, I thought was ok, but at near £38k today, not good value.
Great little car, this was on my short list when replacing the fiesta. ZOE came top only because of practicality/cabin size. Infotainment, nav etc seems a bit better too (i don’t use carplay!)
@@MrEV you’d probably find the ‘fixtures and fittings’ more posh in the 208, the ZOE has a basic feel comparing them side by side to be honest. Still perfectly fine for a 2 hour drive though.
@@MrEV Peugeot 208e allure, bought it in Jan 2021 and now with 84.600km. I added the peugeot navigation system and its realy reliable (tom-tom), but no charge stop planning. so i use abrp in advance
@@MrEV you can get a battery certificat with your inspection at the dealer, they have a "battery health team" at peugeot ;-). Following the data in the Peugeot 208 forum on going electric, there is a loss of 3-4% in the first 10.000km and then about 1% for every 10.000km.
Brilliant that the charge port is in the right place, assume the Astra is the same, driving a Hyundai tho it’s second nature I automatically change the regen with paddles without thinking, I also like the idea of a smaller car but wouldn’t want to keep dialling thro touch screens to go up/down/off with regen settings…looking forward to the Renault e5 or e4 to get made … 🤔
Be very careful of Onto…. I’ve been customer for 18months and I’ve had so much stress and unexpected expenses and constant price increases. I now pay £120 a month more for a lesser car (they have just made me swap my GT for a lower model with no price reduction). They also put car prices up by £50 and reduced mileage by 250mikes a month, which will cost you £70 to add on…..
As with all peugeot car's it still suffers with uncomfortable seats. They have a horrible hard spot in the seat base in the middle of the driver and passenger seat. The base model of the car is still to expensive.
A smartphone isn't always better for navigation. I prefer the on-board navigation on my Model Y, it also automatically includes chargers and adapts to real world circumstances. The possibility to look at possible chargers along the way and how occupied they are is great if you go on a road trip or on vacation over 500 miles away. I really wouldn't want to use third party apps or have to be busy with calculating percentages and looking up charge spots when the car does it on it's own. It should soon begin calculating not only the available chargers but also the cars on their way to a charger, insuring an optimal use of all the chargers and a minimum of charging time for all who use the Tesla chargers.
Had one for just over 3 years now - just love it. Drives great (had a Fiesta ST prior to this), feels nippy, quality is excellent and it's been hugely reliable. My only criticisms of it would be the massive difference in Summer/Winter efficiency (I know it affects all EV's but it seems particularly bad in mine), and the Peugeot App for the car, that has been awful since day one. Great first EV.
"Small but perfectly formed"... thought you were set to eulogize your missus. It is a nice looking car, but, cars with sub 200 mile range really do need to come with very fast charging in 2023. We need more fast chargers and faster charging cars if EV use is to expand.

Hate the small steering wheel. drove a manual 2008 hire car and the pedals box felt too small too. I am 6 2 so the extra height was a help. The steering wheel would put me right off.
what is the judgement of your wife - the most important one, cause that is usually a quite short one nailing it. I can remember that French Megane or so and she was not convinved at all. Would be fine to hear her first impression too and it she starts with an alora, then we all now that she is not convinced or even worse. Might also depend how she pronounces or emphasis alora cause she has different aloras , a nicer one and a clear bring it back, pronto !
The best word to describe the e208 is dreadful, basically a completely half baked petrol converter car, with very poor range and no proper knobs and buttons for the basic heating function's. And a big ungly bonnet... And piano black is the worst finish in any car, just looks cheap and nasty and mark's very easy.....
Very fair points about the knobs, although despite all that, I'm rather enjoying it. I'm also finding the range not too bad... although I hear in winter it's far worse.
The question is why? Why waste the money on this peugeot when the price difference to a tesla 3 is insignifiant, and there is a gigantic difference in what you get with a tsla. Of course this is a sponsored video and nobody should follow this video as it is skewed to push the product. This is not an objective video
Well, the Model 3 is 60cm/2feet longer and still has no boot while this does. That's why people would rather spend their money on this than the Model 3. Not aimed at the same crowd. This is for people who want a simple, easy to understand, practical commuter car. The M3 doesn't fit that bill.
Not everyone wants a Tesla though. Many people want small cars. For most of the driving I have to do, I'd honestly rather drive this than a Model 3. If Tesla make a small hatchback, that'll obviously change things a bit.
Forget long journeys in it. The cost of charging on the pubic network is high. The car is not the most efficient. Only around 150 to 180 miles if your lucky, on a charge. Around two and a half hours of driving . It's a town car. Only saving grace is if you go to France, the French will have more sympathy for you, than if you break down or run out of charge in an Audi.

The dashboard seemed a little laggy when changing views but that’s not a thing to be done when on the move so not critical. Didn’t see the rear floor so assume it’s got a tunnel due to sharing design with ICE cousins. Looking forward to full report from the family.
3:17 👀 😀
7:02 is the commando socket for backup if the charge point isn’t working?
I'd love a Honda e. It's a design classic. Far too expensive though!
@@MrEV agree it's too expensive new now. Paid sub £30k at the time and considering the high spec, I thought was ok, but at near £38k today, not good value.
Always enjoy a your reviews :)
Aren't Onto closing down? Or am I thinking of a different EV leasing company?
Chance of entering Administration
They've had funding pulled but hopefully there'll be some good news.
Hi, my partner does not want to watch with me unless there is Flaviana, we would appreciate more videos with her.😂
Have you driven a jaguar I pace.
Not yet but I would love to. It was my dream car for a long time.
I mean it's a decent review but you know who we all are waiting for..
Great little car, this was on my short list when replacing the fiesta. ZOE came top only because of practicality/cabin size. Infotainment, nav etc seems a bit better too (i don’t use carplay!)
I really need to try the new Zoe. Based on my experience with the Megane, I'd probably opt for the Zoe as I love what Renault are doing.
@@MrEV you’d probably find the ‘fixtures and fittings’ more posh in the 208, the ZOE has a basic feel comparing them side by side to be honest. Still perfectly fine for a 2 hour drive though.
I'd heard that Onto were in trouble. Hopefully they survive as it does seem to be a great service.
I have a 92% SOH of the battery after 75.000km in 2 1/2 years. over 90% charging at home.
What EV do you have?
@@MrEV Peugeot 208e allure, bought it in Jan 2021 and now with 84.600km. I added the peugeot navigation system and its realy reliable (tom-tom), but no charge stop planning. so i use abrp in advance
@@MrEV you can get a battery certificat with your inspection at the dealer, they have a "battery health team" at peugeot ;-). Following the data in the Peugeot 208 forum on going electric, there is a loss of 3-4% in the first 10.000km and then about 1% for every 10.000km.
Brilliant that the charge port is in the right place, assume the Astra is the same, driving a Hyundai tho it’s second nature I automatically change the regen with paddles without thinking, I also like the idea of a smaller car but wouldn’t want to keep dialling thro touch screens to go up/down/off with regen settings…looking forward to the Renault e5 or e4 to get made … 🤔
huhuhu!! Quelle surprise!!! Le cruise control she's hidden!! oh the French.
Andrew have you heard that ONTO may be going into administration as Legal and General have withdrawn it's finance?
Yes, I've heard. I'm sure there'll get a lifeline from someone else though.
@@MrEV Let's hope so as I think that the industry needs to have this type of alternative to get into EV motoring.
As usual a decent car review with Mr EV, but where is the super star car reviewer Mrs EV. Also far better looking than Mr EV…😂😂
They are a good looking it’s shame about the cost really.
Could get one of these for 1+23 for £299, pretty tempting if I can live with the dog on the passenger seat instead of in the boot in a cage.
One of my favourite small EVs. But not that colour blue or yellow in GT TRIM would be my choice.
I always think the fang thing going on the front looks tacky.
So much better than those stupid huge and heavy electric SUV trucks.
It’s certainly a much more sensible size for most of our roads and car parks.
I need Flaviana's take now.
As with all peugeot car's it still suffers with uncomfortable seats.
They have a horrible hard spot in the seat base in the middle of the driver and passenger seat.
The base model of the car is still to expensive.
Agree it’s far too expensive. I don’t think the seats are too bad actually, but I’m driving down to Italy next week so I’ll report back! 😬
Lovely little car.
Great review as always.
Shame about Onto - will be missed.
They're not going anywhere just yet. Hopefully!
Definitely. Nothing beats the Tesla experience for route planning and charging.
That's great to hear! And yes, I've been pleasantly surprised with the efficiency in summer but have heard many complaints in winter.
Tax included with EV; I bet that changes when it isn't free anyway !! Apart from that, still enjoy your vids, even without the bosses input ! 😂
Voice control button doesn’t work unless your phone is already unlocked…😬😬😬
Frunk?
Nope. 🙁
@@MrEV thanks I suppose in such a small car it was a bit of a tough ask!
"Small but perfectly formed"... thought you were set to eulogize your missus. It is a nice looking car, but, cars with sub 200 mile range really do need to come with very fast charging in 2023. We need more fast chargers and faster charging cars if EV use is to expand.
Who is Wes Anderson? 😂
Seriously?? 😀
@@MrEV I clearly don't do enough popular culture! 😁 the other meaning of G.O.M. perhaps.
@@peteglass3496 He's a director with a very distinct style and there was a trend online recently of people doing things in a Wes Anderson style. People either love his films or find them irritating and tedious!
@@MrEV yes, I had to look him up! 🙂
I have always liked the E-208 but not heard good things about it’s range. Good review as always Andrew, just wouldn’t like to think how much money you’ve spent on cars in the last few years 😊
Probably less than the depreciation on a new car!
Man with reversing camera, looks over shoulder...
I trust my eyes more than I do cameras; especially with the tricky hedge we have!
IPOD!!? 2023?
Funny isn’t it? That was probably already out of date when Peugeot made the interface years ago.
EV's are not automatic. They are direct drive.
An important distinction, thank you!
Good looking little car , so much choice out there now .
Hate the small steering wheel. drove a manual 2008 hire car and the pedals box felt too small too. I am 6 2 so the extra height was a help. The steering wheel would put me right off.
I've heard a few tall people telling me it's unsuitable for them.
Not suitable for family. Leg room at back us not good..
what is the judgement of your wife - the most important one, cause that is usually a quite short one nailing it.
I'll try to get her review filmed soon!
Too short for my purpose. Huge ugly fake grille on the front.
Aye, but this doesn't break down as reliably as an Audi.
I'll be going to France next month so I'll test that theory!
