6:44 with the Kobo, you can actually just slide up and down in the left margin within a book to change the brightness. That way you don't have to go into the settings.
Great review. Thanks for taking the time to do a detailed review like this. I didn't learn anything to sway me from my Scribe. But was glad to see the details on this alternative.
I bought the scribe, people told me it was to big to read on but I actually love reading on the big scribe, and it’s probably not as heavy as some hardback books.
I’m not a fan of the new cover. It only protects the front so I will have to purchase a third party cover for it, and now you have to purchase it separately. Thanks for the vid!
Because of the totally free eco system I'd go with Kobo, always. The price of the sleep cover is beyond ridiculous. Also, Kobo will never spy on your content, and never delete titles.
Great review. Thanks for sharing. A quick question - can we have notebooks to write notes /drafts or is it simply for annotation? If note writing is possible, can we export in PDF or Word format to computer? Thanks
Hey Tech Spurt, thanks for the review! I have just bought the Elipsa 2E. Have you found that the eraser is sitting a little loose and moves slightly when using? Or does yours sit in there solidly if that makes sense.
There seems to be little difference between this and the old model. The extra templates will most likely come in an update but other than that there is just the warm light missing from the original model. The new pen doesn't need batteries but its not that big of a deal
I want a great e reader that you can write on anywhere on every page. The scribe failed at this for me.... I'd go with Kobo, but I can't leave the kindle store.
"Rechargeable pen in 2023" :))))) ...and this thing is a "Kindle Scribe killer"? P.S: Don't forget your charger when you found your pen, it will be completely empty :))
I realise that they do their market research, and I'm the only person in the whole world who wants this- but I would love a version that was £100 cheaper without the writing capabilities (and preferably with page turn buttons and a micro SD slot). I just want a big screen eReader!
@@Beefers26 I bought a kindle fire HD 10 in the latest sale. Key points: 1) I saved about £250 2) It is excellent for manga with the £2.50 comicat app. 3) full colour display 4)micro SD upto 1TB 5) I must have massive hands because it seems small, yet the 10.3" elipsa looks huge in the video! Tbh, the page turn buttons on the Kobo sage don't even work half the time, you get used to tapping the edge of the screen.
so... was this "the unboxing and reviewing of the Elipsa 2E" or was it "yeah, this one is good...-ish, but Kindle Scribe is way better"? biased, in my humble opinion
I don't get the point either. It costs like a good tablet and is slower and worse. I can't believe anyone is buying this at that price. I would personally consider this one if it was priced at $100
"File support pretty equal to Kindle Scribe" Tell me you know nothing without telling me you know nothing about file support. Kindle only supports Mobi and KFX, their own files. You need 3rd party software to put files on it. Be fair and say the truth, Kobo supports all free file formats and doesn't need me to teach every non tech person how to operate an ebook manager.
227ppi is a deal breaker, And having to charge a stylus sucks, all it takes is to forget about it once. They should have went with wireless charging directly from the device.
The 10" 300ppi display you were thinking of likely has its availability restricted under the terms of an exclusivity agreement signed between E-ink and Amazon, as I had seen similar things happen with the 2017 Oasis and 2021 Paperwhite displays.
It's competitive when it comes to capability. The scribe doesn't have handwriting recognition, copy / paste, any way to insert space in a notebook, shape recognition, third party cloud storage support etc etc etc. As a note taker it's the worst eink device on the market. By a long long way
This would have been a great device...in 2021. Why would anyone pay $400 for this woefully inferior screen when a Kindle Scribe with 300 PPI can be had for $339? And with access to Amazon's book store, and the ability to easily send personal documents wirelessly. Kobo should drop the price on this to $300 if they want to compete with Amazon. Otherwise, sales are going to be abysmal.
The Kindle Scribes note taking features are abysmal. You can't write on books or annotate pdfs on it easily. Also, in order to export pdfs you need to send it through amazon's servers for processing. Not the greatest thing to do if you value your privacy. If you just want a big ereader though, it is superior
350 pounds, that’s way too heavy for me.
£ being confused for lbs 🥴

good thing you still review this kind of tech

Can you flip flop between a note screen and a book?. I like to build family trees of characters as I read.
Could someone answer this
3:14 "takes a considerable amount of force to yank it off"
Because of the totally free eco system I'd go with Kobo, always.

I mean you never know anything could happen, true free is linux
no one is spying on anything
@@sadenessamazon does
i'm not too sure of the "no spying" anymore since kobo is owned by rakuten.
Never delete titles? What does that mean? It can't be deleted after reading?
How it is the writing recognition? It is possible to write a long college essay on it?
Nice 👍😊 I'm interested so thank you so much for the information. Well done indeed.🥰👍👏🌺

Had the first elipsa. It was nice but the lag for writing was an absolute joke. Switched to the boox note air plus 2 and much happier
i see no lag but it flashes after your done writing which is a tad anoying
Couldn't wait for your recommendation on best midrange phone on the first quarter of this year
Great video! 👍
You get a like and a subscribe just for having Tharg and the Mekon on the same screen.
Hey Tech Spurt, thanks for the review! I have just bought the Elipsa 2E. Have you found that the eraser is sitting a little loose and moves slightly when using? Or does yours sit in there solidly if that makes sense.
Almost worried with what you drew 😅
Good review thanks
is this still the best on the market right now ?
So, is the same as the regular Kobo Elipsa?
Sadly you lost the pen. Will you do another review when you'll find it? At that price point, people pay for the note capabilities.
I think ill wait a few generations. I could definitely use this sort of device for university. The remarkable 2 still is the best looking.
Is there a dark mode?
I own the Kobo Aura 1
Bought it for 20€
Any browser in this ereader?
There seems to be little difference between this and the old model. The extra templates will most likely come in an update but other than that there is just the warm light missing from the original model. The new pen doesn't need batteries but its not that big of a deal
The processor is also faster, which results in faster writing experience
No water resistance?
Does the pen require Bluetooth to be on?
Awaiting the Lenovo smart paper….
How can i charge it up it dosen't come with a damn cord. But i sure do like grabbing a textured rear end.
Wonderful for Readers
Another great video and review
Nice but case should be included for that price
My mate Chris, hope you're well 🤝😎

I'm sorry, what do you mean with "the scribe failed at this". Can't you write everywhere with the scribe?
"Rechargeable pen in 2023" :)))))

Thanks for the review. it would be nice to also point out the difficulties and weaknesses of the device.

Why u need that, its an ereader no tablet
I bought one kobo once, and I keep reading in my tablet s7. Not impressed with kobo technology, too slow no colour etc etc.
