I agree, these seem too vulnerable for actual combat situations. If they're able to make them a lot quieter I could definitely see them being useful to a special forces operation, but it seems unlikely since it's a mini-jet engine.
The fact that the jet suit requires the use of both arms to control it and with the very limited payload capability, I wonder how a combatant can fight in mid air with both arms fully occupied in controlling the flight. I imagine they will be taken out in seconds by CWIS.

It's still a great invention with many applications, but no need for such hyperbolic nonsense.
British inventor, hisbBritish company and private venture capital investment. Nothing at all to do with US Navy or research. Check Gravity Industries to see the real thing.
I could see some applications for the jet suit but they have to get them more stealth. Also may be good at flying below radar but getting shot down in one would suck.
Tony Stark had a reactor with the power output of about 4 fission reactors in a module that fit inside his chest. That would pretty much solve all the engineering problems related to the building rest of the suit around it.
Stan Lee still showing people comics are not just kid stuff, it gives you imagination. Thanks lord Stan Lee for showing the primitives the light. You are pure fire!!💥💥💥💥💯

This invention has nothing to do with the US navy or any other navy. This guy invented it himself. There's a video showing how he did it. He tried all sorts of techniques before settling on this solution.
The pilots are fairly stiff in the air, so maybe it wouldn't be too hard to make decoys. That could be pretty confusing as normal drones were swarming in and half a dozen suits showed up overhead, two of which were real soldiers. I see a lot of potential in an integrated strategy.
Very cool, but maybe it would be better to focus on how to defend against hypersonic missiles and evaluate whether aircraft carriers represent the future of warfare.
This is the UK company "Gravity" working with the Royal Navy although I have seen US marines and media watching and using the Gravity system for the similar if not the same operational requirements and uses when either in a policing manner or for litoral mission etc...etc...

Need thrust mechanism at sides of or below legs. Free up hands and arms. Much more versatile to have use of hands and arms while flying. Legs and lower body are better designed to handle thrust forces. Single, dual, tri, or quad thrust vectored engines would provide directional control and rotation. This concept has amazing potential.
Once the suit is worn,.. hands are occupied until back on the ground and they can free their hands. They're very vulnerable in the air. No ability to protect themselves or target enemy actors. That's a serious issue in combat. As for the use in Medical/Rescuers in rough terrain,.. awesome! Moving a group of soldiers into an otherwise inaccessible strategic point at mission launch could be very useful but not active attack/defense.
I think these suits are amazing. I do have a couple of concerns like if it failed during flight then wouldn't the person drowned if they were flying over water? They should find a safety feature to make sure that does not happen. And another concern is if somebody is picking up something 200 lb and the hydraulic brakes wouldn't that break their arm or leg? And I feel like they need to find a way to keep using their muscles so they don't get out of shape because there are relying on machines. But if they can work out the Kinks it'd be pretty efficient and allow them to do more.
This is not a US Navy thing, it has been developed by a former Royal Marine and is currently used for mountain rescue, and is employed in a limited capacity by the Royal Navy. Have even seen it demonstrated in person at the RNAS Yeovilton display in 2019
