Unfortunately, I served on a US aircraft carrier……. This don’t happen, that’s what the battle group is for! Nothing moves within a 200 miles that doesn’t get several fly bys and has a destroyer headed to’em…..

24 years plus retired Navy and you are correct. The ships which make up the battlegroup are there to protect the mothership at all costs. Airwing will almost always have aircraft on the catapults in Alert status, armed and ready to go. The real threat is the communications our enemies MAY be able to intercept and this is a big maybe since we always know they are there. Our adversaries mostly like to observe ships movement and operations for their own future benefit. The modern day battle group is the most powerful and capable mobile fortress in the world and they can learn a lot simply by watching. By the way, FORTUNATELY you did serve on an aircraft carrier! Thank you for your service.

I am a little bit suspicious of this video. Carriers are usually positioned in the middle of a "carrier group", that is, they are surrounded by other ships who shield it from external threats or attacks. It is hard to imagine any foreign ship slipping into the midst of the carrier group and getting close to the carrier itself. If this really did happen, then somebody wasn't doing their job and ought to have their asses kicked.

When I was in the USAF, the Cambodians captured a US freighter, mistaking it for a spy ship. (1975) The freighter was the Mayagüez. The US Navy, together with the Marines, had to go and rescue the ship and its crew.
The USAF helped by having its SIGINT station in Thailand monitor Cambodian and other communications and issue SITREPs during the rescue.
We may have inter-service rivalry, but when the rubber hits the road, we work together to accomplish the mission.

The US commander and his staff can then learn more about what the Chinese ship is up to and defuse tensions at the same time. Don't get me wrong I can't remember which general said this , "when a US Aircraft carrier shows up power changes hands quickly." It's a mobile military air force fully loaded with Navy officers, Seals and surrounded by battle ships. Let's not forget there could be a couple subs in striking position. Nobody wants to cross that line even if we go to war with them.

there's a reason why there has been peace so far and thats because china and usa have respect and understands the outcome. Most war happens because of instigations or misinformation but you have to respect one another because war is bigger than our country, and its bigger than russia, bigger than us itself because if war was a person than we/us wouldnt stand a chance. When I see the things going on right now in our country it reminds me of our soldiers that are out in such as south china sea, or baby sitting for israel, or trumpers who thinks they are still living in the wild texas in 1455 with professor graham shining down his 6 shooter. The world is bigger than that. It is so important to be a man if yoiu are a leader because a leader who acts as if he just woke up in the past obviously lost reality. Same people who says they are there for you are the first people who will leave and close that door and care less about you. That is just how things work. Is not a movie. Just ask any military official who serve out somewhere international. You will respect the calmness, the fairness, the boldness but with respect, and if you ask why most of them acts that way is because they know reality.

I was cruising though a naborhood in Philadelphia on time following someone else . The naborhood was quiet , and nothing a little patience won’t take care of , when suddenly the car infront of my pickup truck stopped a layed on the horn of his car !
All of a sudden the naborhood came out , determined it wasn’t me , and they turned the offending car over in the middle of the street with the driver in the car !
I backed out of that situation real quick . The guy behind me wasn’t to happy either . But I was able to get around him . Fortunately .
So I can see where the Chinese navy gets a little nurvous when we’re in the naborhood .
