I love this. My cousin, Lt John Spahr told us all about it. Unfortunately, he lost his life for our country. He was my hero. True pilot, instructor, father, son, American through and through. Never judged you. (PS., Best babysitter ever!). He is my hero, my strength and my sanity.
I was on the carrier USS Constellation in the 70's with VA-146 and had a chance to get launched off the ship in a C-2 Grayhound transport plane. I'll tell you it's a ride no amusement park ride even comes to ! I mean 0-140 mph in 3 seconds ! You sit backwards in your seat strapped in makes it worse. The plane's crew man said we would launch on the count of 3. Well he was a wise ass and we took off on the count of 1 ! You felt like a crash test dummy. One hell of a ride and landing on deck later was even worse. I'm 67 now and I would do it again in a heart beat !
(" I wondered what this work, looked like. I'll bet the sound, the smells, and the heaviness of the humidity is incredible. Thanks, for your presentation. Robert, thank you for your work, this helps me understand, some of why, you, are such a Bratt ("
Nothing else on earth compares to working the flight deck what a rush , Did it one time in my US Navy days 1984/1988 on board the USS Coral Sea med cruise 7 month deployment , I was stationed with VFA-131 Wildcats out of NAS Cecil Field fla Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd class loved every second of it !

Thank for your service. As an A-4 pilot on the USS Hancock for two deployments in 1973 and 1975. I was at Cecil field in 1970 at my first squadron.
@@PeteVA-212 Roger that and thank you as well sir !
I can visualize my father catapulting off of several different carriers in several different aircraft during Korea and Vietnam.
Pretty cool when you get to see it in person namely if it's not an everyday thing for you AKA stationed on the ship.
