Europe stands with the US against the chinese-russian threat!
It's time NATO starts expanding. Countries like Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand should join and have nuke missile launching sites.

In the promotion of men and women to oversee a nation's ultimate weapons systems, you need personalities and demeanor like this admiral: friendly, polite, and open but resolute and non-ideological or dogmatic. You don't want nut cases like the general Flynn guy hanging on to Trump's coacttail, encouraging Trump to declare "marshal law" (by which they meant "martial law") so Trump could resort to using the mighty US military to "enforce" some domestic political election dispute, etc.
And the BS that the US is falling behind China is just that: complete BS. In another 25 to 35 years, once China has been operating 5 to 8 super carriers and 2 dozen nuclear subs for at least 20 years, yes, they would be on a par with the US Navy.
But right now, the admiral is right: the Chinese "300+ naval ships" are 90% still just fishing boats and mid sized, mid ranged ships that can't do any more than patrolling a tiny strip of China's pacific coast line. The traditional Chinese description for that is "paper tiger." That's what the Chinese military right now is, despite the fact that they DO have very deadly missiles, as noted.
And, yes, they have the capability to shoot American military in orbits, as does the USA.
But even if both the US and China blow up most of each other's military satellites, the US has more ally satellites in space than China; and on earth, the US WILL still dominate the Chinese both on land and on the high seas, since the US's Air Force has over 10,000 aircraft, most being high-end ones... compared to the much small high-end Chinese Air Force aircraft, in the mere hundreds, however many they may have on paper, like North Korea likes to display their 1950s aircraft and tanks and fishing boats painted as real deadly ships.
They don't have dozens of the nuclear subs the US has that could go quietly under water for months at a time, resurfacing only because they need to restock on foods and supplies...

because politcians understand nuance while the meat heads in the military only gives u the preprogrammed narratives they have been instructed by the institutions to give to the public?always the same dumb answers, yes we are ready to go to war or whatever shyt they think they are supposed to say without considering the greater geopolitical consequences or fallout....
these dumbfks dont even realise the power of China.......CHina built 3 prototype aircraft carriers in barely a decade u think to field it?they did it for kicks just to show they could do it.
the size of china's army is nothing but a temporary phenomenon, America is thinking in terms of less than even a decade which is nothing.
let me give u an example......a mere 14 years ago back in 2008 crisis.....China's gdp was equivalent to Japan at 4.3 trillion and usa at 17 trillion, within a mere 14 years China's gdp is at 18 trillion nearly 75% of what America's gdp is.
Within 10 years, the size of China's navy would not only dward USA's her technological capabilities would approach close to 80 possibility even 90 percent parity with USA.
Enjoy and savour this last decade of "imagining" defeating China while u can.

Thanks for your service! I was in the Army myself.
China loves to talk a big talk about how deadly their PLA military is. This is combined with China's world's largest propaganda campaigns using their "50 Cent Army" (Wu-Mao) that sets up thousands of fake user accounts on American social media sites to try to sway public opinion and spread more false propaganda (e.g. non-stop daily fake propaganda trying to cover up China's Xinjiang "re-education" concentration camps that imprison and torture 1 to 2 million ethnic Uyghurs). China also loves to publicize to the world their propaganda videos showing their military drills and how their army, navy, and air force look so menacing. But China's last actual combat experience was about 35 years ago during the 1980s Sino-Vietnamese wars. For better and for worse, the U.S. has been involved in actual combat frequently during the past 4 decades. So if war is compared to a soccer or football competition, China has been practicing football drills only with their own players for the past 4 decades, while the U.S. has been playing actual real football games against different teams in different stadiums every year for the past 4 decades; i.e. China has not even played a single pre-season football (war) game for the past 4 decades. So China's 細菌屁 really needs to remember that as much he wants to invade Taiwan as part of his dictatorship legacy, he should not underestimate the U.S. and he should view Russia's struggles in Ukraine as a ominous lesson about invading another peaceful country!

I’ve met and had the chance to talk to admirals and upper leaderships in my military career. I can confirm some of them are absolutely menacing on how direct and concise they portray themselves. The current seventh fleet commander gave my helicopter search and rescue detachment a speech / talk while deployed to south china sea. He straight up told us we have one of the most important and exposing jobs. Flying in circles so the jets can take off and land safely. We are the first ones up in the air and the last to land. Man was legitimately appreciative of what we did since we were often overlooked and overshadowed by the jets. Yes we just wait around just in case the worse scenario happens and we have to pull a downed aviator out of the water but I’m glad to this day I have never had to go through our procedures in a real case scenario. I served for 20 years in the Navy, retiring in 2014. Almost a decade later I can attest that we were already seeing degradation of the fleet. Mostly physically but also a small erosion in training. We are still ahead in 2023, but we can not rest on our laurels. Training needs to be ongoing and more practical in nature when possible. Ship maintenance needs to be prioritized and new platforms need to launched in good working order.

Thank you for your service! I was previously in the Army. Also served with the NATO peacekeeping force in Bosnia in the mid-90s.

I was a US Navy Nuclear Surface Officer for 8 years from 2008-2015. The US Navy Surface fleet has a SERIOUS training problem. There is not a "warfighter above all" culture in the non-nuclear surface fleet. I call it a "checkbox and hatch" culture - get through the many random obligations you have then hit the liberty door. In the end, shipboard personnel are pulled 10 different ways and it leaves little time to actually train as real warfighters. The US Navy Nuclear trained personnel have a vastly different culture where training, competence and accountability are EVERYTHING and it has been like that for decades. The culture started by ADM Rickover runs DEEP in the nuclear navy and therefore I am highly confident in our submarine fleet and carrier fleet's ability to actually fight. I just hope the rest of the surface Navy can keep up in a real war...

Real question is what did you do about it, while on active service? Complain, I suspect. The common agreement in the Navy, is the Surface Fleet is where they send the dregs. And this Officer is an example of one. I always told my peeps you can complain, but what is the solution. There are many solutions, but the number one solution is to LEAD. by Example. Deck Plate Management. You don't get what you expect... you get what you inspect.

Right now the Chinese navy only has three aircraft carriers, one of which I believe is a pretty much useless old Russian ship. China has a bunch of smaller, relatively light, vessels, destroyers and smaller I believe. I'd have to do a bit of research, but I think one of our largest carriers can carry more planes than all the Chinese carriers combined. I think we have some thirteen or so carriers, although I'm sure some are in shipyards right now for maintenance.

They are trained to not self doubt. That’s not a good military tool that jumps from your hand to the sand bc it doubts its efficiency. Now Nimitz is trained in free thinking and strategy. A whole different tool. You are comparing a wrench, to an artificial intelligence program for strategic and logistics. No offense to military it’s just that everybody has their purpose and where it fits into the puzzle.

Biden gets in, taliban takes over afganistan, norht korea launches missles, isis comes back, i honestly think these people are working behind the scenes to make sure all these conflicts go and keep going . its just so disgusting.

As a Navy vet I am confident that we have sufficient heart and our sailors always stand ready. War is always coming. Please give our men and women what they deserve to work with. I was on the USS Detroit when it was towed out of the Philly shipyards in 2000. McHales navy would have laughed at us. It was not seaworthy much less battle ready. Luckily, Seattle stepped up and took our Med cruise. We were unprepared and mechanically unsound. But the new paintjob on it looked great.

I think people need to think about the toll of a loss of 2 carriers. Historically when naval ships are sunk very few people make it off. 5,000 people would be gone instantly, from 1 carrier, add that to the other lost ships and people lost in taking islands and repelling an invasion of Twain. Many families lives will be changed forever and they always get forgotten about. I hope cooler heads prevail.
