The Pro roof rack is poor so that needs to be replaced, Nitto tires bad in the rain. No KDSS option so more body roll, and less articulation for off-roading.
The comment is ridiculously that there is much better ride quality in the PRO. If you take into account that there is much more body roll in the PRO since no option for KDSS.
Have driven both, the Off road premium with KDSS rides better in my opinion.
Off Road Premium , Put on a good rack. Has a 360 camera option, KDSS option, heated steering wheel. Can add aftermarket Fox suspension. Put on better tires, Wildpeaks….premium comes standard with Dunlap AT tires. Add Toyota rock rails.
Conclusion: Off-road Premium with Wildpeak tires etc. much better vehicle, less money. 1:42

I regret getting the kdss version. After 35k miles it developed a leak and they want $5600 to fix it. There are no other aftermarket options to use for anti sway. The off road premium is a better deal overall.

I’m upgrading from my 21 SR-5 Premium 7 Seater that I optioned with TRD Wheels and Skid Plates, but I just upgraded to a 24 Underground Pro. I decided that I would get three years newer and the 360 camera, dual zone climate control, Fox shocks, heated wheel, side view / rear view warning. Plus prices are better now, I got my Pro below MSRP.

Not in my “real world “. I have compared today. Trd off-road premium with the 3K “off road package which gets the nitto AT tires, blacked out, trd pro wheels runs 54k and the trd pro is 58K so 4K difference. So even if you take off the “off-road package, there is a 7k difference

Yeah I was shocked at the rebate I got!! I have an all in, post tax & fees price of $50,500, with the KDSS. Doesn’t have the alloy rim upgrade, but I’m actually starting to think that the regular silver rims looks like a better color contrast anyway since I got it in black. Like the Raiders!!

The TRD OR with KDSS is one of my favorites. Plus you can add the MTM camera. And modify it yourself, not the dealer. That said, my Wife and I need the Dual Zone climate control. And the ride on the Pro is amazing! Plus resale on the Pro is excellent. Just don't pay over MSRP.

It comes down to KDSS on the OR that you dont get on the PRO. The Pro you get trd skid, roof rack, Fox shocks which do ride better, dual zone climate, JBL system with sub. Now heres the real deal. The camera system on both suck balls. The resolution is so terrible its like a 1970's RCA console TV. The interface on the navi screen is laughable. My 2019 tundra has much better graphics and better user interface. The andriod auto is a joke. Continually disconnects for no apparent reason. As the 5th gen heads out Toyota cant even send us off with decent DRL's? I mean cmon toyota you cheap bastards. Now with those being said this grossly under powered engine is reliable AF and same goes for the tranny. The resale is great and better with the PRO. I had the 2018 TRD ORP w/ kdss. Built it up on Kings and front bumper with Warn Zeon platinum winch it was a monster. I decided to bite the bullet to get the 24 PRO only because you wont get another chance to have this reliable truck. The new 6th gen will put a 4 banger with turbo and steep hill climbs will be a problem. along with the issues that come with any boosted powerplant. Look at the issues with the tundra. Crap gas mileage and a basket full of issues. Get this beast before you cant anymore and as you look on the road and see the once great Fj cruise around still going strong and wished you could have one you cant. So the same feeeling will come over you in 5 years seeing a 5th gen cruise down the road and again you'll wish you had one.
    my 2 fn cents.

I don't understand this video. You say "same exact tires and wheels," yet you can clearly see Nittos on the Pro and Wildpeaks on the TRDORP. So, no, they do not have the same tires. Second, you reference the 360 camera as being a TRD pro "plus," if you will, when that same 360 camera can come on the ORP. Then you're talking about ride quality difference without any actual, tangible difference or comment. Fox shocks, I guess? (Which come with their own issues). I like your stuff, man, but this video was a total swing and miss for me. Just did not make sense from start to finish.

  • @davec8894
    @davec8894 9 месяцев назад +5

Good video and appreciate the information presented. However to me it came off very biased in my opinion, but that is why we all have opinions right haha!
The TRD PRO, well yes I do agree, top of the 4Runner food chain, and commands the price.
TRD ORP (Factory Optioned CORRECTLY, please hear me out people).....is the exact same as a Pro, minus dual climate controls, +6 speakers and a subwoofer(Pro has the 15 speaker JBL), the Fox suspension, PRO weather mats, roof rack, and that is about it!
Ordered my 2020 TRD ORP (Non-KDSS) with every option but the aforementioned details. Came in at MSRP $48K vs. PRO at $54K, and the dealership would not budge on the PRO price. They were very agreeable to neg. on the TRD ORP! Cut a deal for $43,500 (+TTL $46,300 total) on the TRD ORP fully decked out from Factory (TRD Skid plates, PRO Exhaust, TRD Interior package, Predator steps, PRO Rims, heated mirrors and wiper strip heat, dash cam and more). I honestly saved over $8K to play with hell yeah! Why buy a Fox suspension (or KDSS on ORP for $2K-ish), JBL stereo package, and a roof rack just to toss it away when I already plan on building my own Runner? Now I have $3K in suspension and tires (mild upgrades and BFG K02 33's), still have $5K extra for the stereo of MY choice, camera upgrades lights or whatever, and well dual climate controls.....never bothered me before haha! Heated steering wheel would be freaking nice though (wasn't an option in '20).
Soooo.....I have to disagree with you Ben by labeling the TRD ORP as a "faux PRO" or "no PRO". That is not entirely true. People that want an "off the shelf, out of the box" VERY WELL done package, THEN YES.....The PRO is for them.
Those that have a plan, know what they want, and how to execute said plan to customize as they wish.....the TRD ORP holds WAY more $$$$ value on the front end. That is why I chose the ORP over the PRO, and I am just doing it my way.
Again, very good job with the content and appreciate your time in providing the information. The rest is just simply, buy what makes you happy and fits your purpose. Just my $0.02 (opinion) LOL!
    Happy trails everyone!

The ORP is a better buy if you’re gonna do a build. But the Pro is actually a great buy if you mainly keeping it stock. Totally agree with your point of view, I know many off-road fans don't care about those features at all, such as the interesting exhaust sound, JBL speakers, automatic headlights, 360-degree cameras, etc. (but I think the front camera and side cameras are a bit helpful when off-road) Moreover, these functions can also be added later, but KDSS cannot be added later. I like the performance of KDSS very much and I am looking forward to the new E-KDSS of GX550! I also hope that the new generation 4runner will be equipped with the same! But at present, my driving feeling still makes me choose PRO, but it is not worth buying it if it costs too much. My experience is that too many dealers in New York increased their prices, and they never seemed to worry about not selling... So I called various dealers and finally chose one in New Jersey about three hours away from me. I bought PRO solar octane from a dealer but still paid an extra thousand dollars... But even so, I still find it very interesting and enjoyable every time I drive it. By the way, this was last year. Some of me heard that many dealers this year have stopped increasing the price of PRO. This is definitely good news!

This guys idea of ride better is just softer very subjective and he’s not comparing to KDSS as obviously they’re like completely different cars at that point. I wouldn’t use him as a point of reference for how it drives at all.

I upgraded the sound system ( I would have even if I had the JBL system), added the TRP Pro Exhaust, Skid plate, and cold air intake. Blacked out the valences. Mine came with the TRD Pro wheels and Terra grappler tires. Except for the roof rack and badging, my TRP ORP looks like a Pro. I would have gotten a Pro if one would have been available, but it was not. I am very happy with my TRD ORP as it is today.

The trd premium is actually a better deal for alot of people that go offroading .there are alot of better suspension available than the FOX suspension (remember earlier versions of the 5gen trd pro came with bilstein suspension) .Why pay for the fox suspension then take it off ? The exhaust does nothing to the performance like you said , the rims that come on the premium is actually wider than the TRD rims by 1/2 inch so putting on the trd rims is a down grade . The slide out tray in the cargo area usually gets taken out also . The only thing the pro has over the premium is the trail cam maybe and the graphics are really poor . IF your all about cruising in the mall parking lot the the Pro is the thing(look at me look at me) if your a serious offroader or semi serious then the premium is the way to go.

The TRD Off Road is a better buy. You have the same drive train, locking rear diff, traction control etc. For the price difference you can add RCI skid plates that are better than the pro, a better upgraded suspension and keep the off road wheels. The TRD Off Road wheels are better for off road than the Pro wheels. The TRD OR wheels protect the valve stems from trail damage that can quickly ruin your day by ripping the stem off, the PRO wheels do not. The TRD OR wheels are 7.5 inches wide the Pro wheels are 7 inches. Basically the PRO is a mall crawler and the TRD OR is made for off road.

    2024 4Runner...
TRD Off Road Premium vs. TRD Pro...
New Year's Eve 2023 went to dealership
to check how Flat The Cargo Area Is w/o
the Sliding Rear Cargo Tray... It's NOT Flat... Not Flat At All! Well, That's That!
Originally, looking for TRD OFP w/ Premium Package, Moonroof, Sliding
Rear Cargo Tray AND KDSS in Underground approx. US$50,000... They
    Had One...But NO MOONROOF... SOL!
then an Ice Cap TRD Pro caught my eye... Checked It Out... Not Bad, Not Bad at All... Its Now or Never, Last Of The 5th Generation... Don't TRUST THE RELIABILITY of the forthcoming 2025 6th Gen... it's the Luddite In Me...!
DECIDED TO BUY IT...! A Genuine TRD Pro not the TRD ORP Faux...!
It is the Sales Tax and Vehicle Registration that Puts You Over the Top! Wish California Had Zero/0% Percent Sales Tax like Oregon... The Asking for the TRD Pro was a base msrp $54,920 + 2,569 dealer/port prep install, delivery... And a 5,000 Dealer GOUGE MarkUp!
    The Negotiation:
    Immediate 1,995 discount Without
Asking...? then I said I'd "thinkabout it..."
Went Home, measured height of my garage... Hah! Salesman called next
    morning... went to dealership, measured
height of TRD Pro WITH That Useless
Roof Basket... It Cleared... Barely. Then
I literally took a " 'Round the Block" test drive and I said... "Cut 1,500 more off the MarkUp or Counter Offer and You've Got a Deal...!" They accepted my Offer...
    No Counter Offer!
So I paid MSRP 54,920, + 1,574 install, prep & delivery + 2,500 MarkUp, down from 5,000 pure cash gouge Dealer MarkUp...! 5,921.31 was CA Sales Tax and DMV Registration... I paid All Cash,
No Financing. I think that because it was 31 December 2023, New Year's Eve, they were trying to make they're End of Year Toyota Allocation Cut... I Hope They Did... Another SR5 also sold that day...
Anyway that's my Story 'an I'm
    Sticking to It.
    Happy New Year!
    Happy Trails...!

You didn't really win because you still paid the $2500 markup which sounds like their target. The fact that they took off $1995 without asking proves that. They also made a nice chunk of change by charging you $2569 for the "dealer port prep install fee" They made it seem like they did you a favor, but they made that money back. That resale value claim has just gone down. No one should be paying any markups at this point even right around Dec of last year. Your already over $60k for a 4Runner. Should of went with a GX instead. But, as long as you like it, thats all that matters.

Lmao I have an SR5 that is build up better than both of these and I paid 22k for it. It is a used 2015 with 64k miles. I added mods. So lift kit 3.5 inches, wheels and tires, new led lights front and rear. As for inside, I put leather seats, added heated steering wheel, added heated and cool seats, added a new led tablet screen, added piano black trims. I also put a black headliner and re did the seatbelts to black (it was tan before). So the color inside is tan/black. I took out all that silver like color. Oh I also added led interior lights, heads up display. I even added the harnesses for blindspot monitor and keyless entry with push button. You have to take it to Toyota though. They will have to program it... but yeah all in about close to 12k in mods. So for 35k I got me a fully custom 4Runner that surpasses the TRDpro imo. I always do that with my vehicles though. I buy the base model and add my own stuff to it. 💯

People who say the ORP is better than the pro are just high on copium that they couldn’t get a Pro…. And overpriced? If anything the ORP is overpriced… For a few more grand you can get a Pro that has WAY more features and actually somewhat resembles a modern vehicle. If you’re spending that much already, might as well spend a little extra to get the pro. By the time you upgrade everything on your ORP it’ll be more than the base cost of a Pro.
