I have a 2012 Veloster NAV manual. Would like to know what clutch type you purchased and where? Clutch is beginning to slip at 98K miles and would just like to make sure I get the correct clutch kit. Wish you the best in life and hope the stars align for you
I purchased the one I used off of Amazon but I bought a very cheap clutch because I planned on pulling the motor within a year to swap a V6. If I had planned on keeping the original engine I would have bought a higher quality clutch kit.
Mine is a 2013 non turbo. 145k miles. Since the disassembly is so extensive, are there any other parts you’d recommend swapping while I have things apart?
Hi there!!! Thank you for the upload and all your work on the video! I have one question. I have a 2014 version of yours and I am wondering if replacing the pilot bearing is needed. I only see one available for the AT dual clutch. I have the axle shaft trans seals, pressure plate, disc, throw out bearing and a flywheel if needed ready to do it at a Toyota dealership I work at. What are your thoughts on the pilot bearing?
I haven't torn it apart yet but I still have my old transmission so I might do a breakdown video for it later on. I honestly didn't think anyone would be interested in the teardown of that transmission.
I have DCT and DCt should lasts 4x more than the clutch of manual but still interested since unlike a manual I need special tools to remove and install the dual clutch and scan tool to reprogram. Anyway any tips to know if my clutch is worn out like yours? Especially mine since its controlled by computer instead of my foot.
I had a stage 1 clutch installed on my 2013 NA veloster but after I turned on the engine and pressed on the clutch....the gears would not go in....engine off was easy to change gears....but with the engine on and even pressing on the clutch it would not let me change gears....Any idea on how to fix that issue? Thanks.
My velister is not a stick but it’s a manual clutch run by motors I’m sure you know what I’m talking about Anyway the trans intermittently won’t go in gear It seems the ignition has something to do with it because it only happens when I hear the ignition sticking? If I let it sit for a while and start it the trans works fine Any ideas Is in the ignition switch tripping the motors that run the clutch?
@@Erik-cn4tx SO awesome that you answered I took it to the dealer and the only code is a catalytic converter SO COULD A CLOGGED cat cause a sensor to stop the computer from allowing motor and the clutch to engage into drive
@@paulakyle1777 I HIGHLY doubt it. A cat converter is part of your emissions system. Very frequently, a bad cat will affect what your O2 sensor is detecting. This can create an issue in how your engine runs, as the computer uses information your O2 sensors in your exhaust system for your injection. So you might run lean, or the other term I can’t remember at the moment. Transmission issues won’t always throw a code. But with so many computers and sensors in modern cars, anything can happen. I wish I had a more solid answer for you, but I am not extremely experienced with Hyundais.I came across this video because I was looking at buying one and wanted to make sure I didn’t need any special tools (like I did with my VW) I had a 2000 Chrysler LHS that I had issues with. Chrysler had a great idea, if the computer senses some kind of issue with the transmission, it’ll throw it in “limp mode” and you’ll be locked in second gear. Great idea in theory, in practice, any minor issue throws you into second gear and you are spinning 5k going 55mph. If I was a betting man, I would say your issue does not lie in your cat.
5:50 mark in the video. Front center directly behind the radiator mounted to the front of the engine. 8:40 shows the slave cylinder from under the front of the car
hello, how are you, I need help, my car marks E on the dashboard, it only walks in reverse and not in drive, a scanner has already been put on it, but it marks p17c1
You just show the people do it then you get yourself into trouble. I have a veloster if I have something to do a good ride to the dealer don’t listen do you
Thank you this video saved me $800

Nice video. Very helpful. I’ll attempt my replacement within the month. Your video seemed very thorough.

230k miles on a veloster is pretty damn impressive
Great video, have you ever been into the trans? I need input shaft bearing on 2012 manual.
I haven't torn it apart yet but I still have my old transmission so I might do a breakdown video for it later on. I honestly didn't think anyone would be interested in the teardown of that transmission.
Thank you for this video. Your detail is appreciated.
What clutch did you get for the car? I have the same problem with mines

It seems to me like you have either a slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder issue.
very very helpful mate // good work !!!!!

In the research I’ve done you have the DCT(double clutch transmission) automatic. From what I have seen it is mostly a computer or sensor thing.

Where is the clutch slave cylinder located at? In a Veloster non turbo
5:50 mark in the video.
Front center directly behind the radiator mounted to the front of the engine.
8:40 shows the slave cylinder from under the front of the car
Your awesome! Thanks for the video!!!
Thank you very nice video keep up the good work
How do I adjust the clutch pedal?
hello, how are you, I need help, my car marks E on the dashboard, it only walks in reverse and not in drive, a scanner has already been put on it, but it marks p17c1
Did you fix your issue? I have a voloster that is giving me the same error code p17c1.
You’re awesome thank you for this video.
You have a parts list?
Wtf how the hell did you pick up the transmission so easily 17:25
I work out daily and I've been doing car work for over 30 years. Lol
Where is the clutch slave cylinder on a 2013 Veloster non turbo?
You just tell the people if they can’t do it themselves oh to the dealer they’ll do it
And I don’t have the tools for the either
Ive done 3 engine swaps and 4 tranny replacements. I have 3 inch thick book of all things i had to replace on my 2017 Vnav. These cars are terrible.
